i can certainly see both sides. i certainly understand what you're saying about it being exclusive, ms whitney...
but still...
as a customer, it sucks to know they don't care about you.
and, of course, it would be entirely different if there was a set of criteria that was black and white.

i'm sorry that you feel that way kallison, as any customers who are super nice to me, not even talking about loyalty as we are a tourist store mainly...get the best i can give them

and that's simply free shipping if it's not available in the store, 2 days or overnight, i try not to do ground, esp. if they are tourists.

i always grab the bag that is spankin' new versus rewrap.

if it's a bag that is not there, and they describe it, i'll do my best to look it up and see if i can order it.

if it's needed right away, i'll look up other stores, right down the info so it's easier once they're at the other store to get what they need versus wasting any more time.

my manager always says, "never say no" because we don't want you to leave disappointed.

and if its someone i know well, and does spend that much, like superstar said, even without one you can have no worries.

i'm somewhat shocked by what i've read, i really do feel that coach does the best to have their SAs be courteous at minimum.
i'm not saying anything against sa's. the girls i see here and fantastic- as well as the things i've ordered from sprinkles. i have never been treated badly at a coach store (well, the outlet. but that's different) and i would never badmouth anyone from the boutique because they're all really fantastic, honestly!
i'm not attacking the people who work at coach. and, heck, i'm not even attacking coach as a company. (and "they" is referring to the company as a whole, not the sa's, btw.)
i just think a preferred customer event cannot be random. there is no preference in that.

Additionally, do the invitations have - electronically - a name attached to them? In other words, do they have a barcode that identifies who it was sent to?

The invitations do state, "This card is valid for one transaction only and will be collected at the time of purchase. Valid for the invitation holder on the above days only. This invitation may not be reproduced or transferred, including eletronically or via the Internet. Any reproduction of this card will not be accepted by our stores. Valid only on purchases of Holiday 2006 merchandise. Not valid for purchase of gift cards, special orders, merchandise holds, coach.com, and phone orders. International and factory stores are not included."

So would it be rejected if a person purchased one on eBay?

no, it won't

so someone can give you yours. but buying it on ebay is silly, i'd just go into the coach store and talk to the SA you fluently buy with.

and you can share, there's no limit on how much you can buy with one card.

Just anothery FYI, I have been buying alot lately. When I bought my whiskey Mandy, which had to be shipped, the SA had asked me to bring it in to show it to them. I made sure they saw it when I went in to window shop.

I have gotten one for the last two and spent about 1k both times...does this mean I might not get one this time or once you get them you keep getting them...does anyone know? I love coach and spend lot's of money but it took me about 3 years to get my first card and now I would hate to not keep getting them. So for you that have got them do you always get them? I hate went I start to panic about things others might find silly but I enjoy getting my 25% off. thanks

Hello;

I received my discount invitation today in the mail. It was rather ironic because yesterday I called a couple stores to see about getting on the list and none of the SA's seemed to know about this-I was told it goes through the corporate office. I was looking at a couple of the Legacy bags, but told the SA that I wanted to wait to see if I got a card in the mail.
I did spend about $450 in the store at the beginning of the month (although the majority of it was store credit). I got a thank you in the mail after this purchase at my mailing address, then today at my permanent address (completely different), I got the discount invitation. I therefore, have no idea how I got on the list.
One other interesting thing is that the discount cards that I saw being sold on Ebay looked different than what I received in the mail. Somebody said that the Ebay discounts looked like they came from the "corporate" office and looked more like corporate discounts rather than the discount for the event.

Mine came today too, or should I say my Mom's. It was in her name, and I can thank her for most of my collection. I was invited to the last two, and may be to this one as well.

I should also mention, we have a great relationship with our SA (and another one if she is not there). We always stop by to say hi, and she mentioned if by chance we didn't get it, not to worry.

I know some people don't like to interact with the SAs, but it will really benefit you in the long run to do so.

They are already up on ebay. You have to figure out what the coupon is worth to you, if you are going to buy one on ebay. They usually sell for $30 & up. The most important thing is to make sure the coupon will get to you before the Coach Discount expires. So make sure you check the auction end date and the shipping options. At this time of year, watch the Priority Mail option if it is close to the auction end (I had one that did not get to me in time because I didn't want to pay express and priority took a day longer than I planned).

I would try asking the SA first.

Next, make sure what you spend on the coupon & shipping is less than the discount you will receive. Surely you must have an item in mind before bidding on a coupon.

Finally, someone posted the Macys Family Code here on TPF so you can get the discount, on-line, that way. You get an ebate too if you use that. So you don't need a coupon to get a discount on Coach if you use FF at Macys. (the on-line code posted was FFMACYS).

I've only been shopping at coach since the end of August - Legacy drew me in. I've just added up what I've spent roughly - $3,548.00 excluding tax, etc. - and I shopped at two different stores for my purchases. Usually I have had the same girls or guys help me, but I will tell you, there was one girl at my usual store who does say "no" to the customer (which was me). As far as she was concerned what I was interested in wasn't available and she wasn't going to do anything about it. One other girl stepped in and easily got the item, which was in the store. Also, when I first shopped, I got thank you cards - now I don't. Even when I went to the other store a little further away and spent close to $1,000.00 in one purchase, I did not receive a thank you card. Do I think I'll receive an invitation to this event? Nope. Why? Overall blanket trend of declining customer service. As one stated, part of the determination of who gets picked for this event is SA entry of info and what I can tell, especially with the younger SA's, that conscientiousness is not their strong quality. OK, maybe my age is showing a bit and I am no longer young and carefree, but when I was younger and working in the service trades if we didn't deliver the customer service the boss was all over our A%$^! Nowadays?......."OH WELL!" Some of this tarnishes my view of the brand, but honestly, I have to say that I'm really in it for one line only. The rest is just sort of BLAH to me, so considering the amount I have already purchased, I won't miss out on much. Which is a good thing for my pocket book!

Kallison, before I say anything else, I want to say that I completely agree with everything you've said. I think the current system is horribly unfair and very insulting to their loyal customers who aren't included.

However, if those loyal customers keep buying from Coach year after year despite not getting an invitation why would Coach send them one? The marketing gurus at Coach know that those people will keep buying regardless of whether they get the invitation so why waste it on those people? Wouldn't it make more sense (from Coach's perspective) to send one to a newer customer who recently made a big purchase and try to lure them back into the store to make another big purchase or perhaps even get them hooked? I don't know if there is any validity to this theory but I could see it happening. I am just glad that there are some good SAs out there who recognize the importance of keeping their loyal customers happy by extending the discount to them even if they didn't get the invite.

Another funny thing is that some of us shop at King of Prussia. Somehow I don't think my few bucks spent can compete with all the Main Liners who go to the Court & Plaza as opposed to the Ardmore Store. My $4000 spent is probably nil compared to the thousands the wealthier spend! Maybe I should go to a different store?

I was thinking that, too, and I think you bring up a valid point. When shopping in a store like that your $4,000 purchases could be a very small amount compared to what some others spend. If someone spent $4,000 in my local Coach store the SAs would probably fall over dead on the spot.

Well, apparently I'll never get one since I shop at more than one boutique (one of which is KoP so I'd NEVER be the big spender there!) and even though I am always "chatty" with the SAs, I never seem to get the same one - even when I come back to show them a bag they helped me order. The part where you have to frequent only one store and get close to a particular SA frustrates me - I seriously don't get to boutique shop too often, and I often have to work it in when I have others with me, so I have to pick the store most central to where we all need to go, rather than where I try to shop most.

And, as many others here have said, I'm not whining either (and cerainly do not need another bag right now), but I also feel like I've spent quite a bit on Coach, and just feel it would be more fair if there were some actual criteria to go by. Right now, it's like you have to have "inside info" somehow to qualify.

Willow, kind of like Kohls MVP or whatever it is called. If you charge so much a year, you get the coupons next yr. Kohls also tells you how close to goal you are. now that they have sold their CC Business & raised their rates, I will pay it off or transfer the balance to a lower rate card.
