I got mine in the mail today, also. Now I have to figuare out what I want to get. :wlae:

It really is completely random and it's a complied list made by corporate and not the stores, we sometimes see whose on it and it doesn't make sense. Just to let you know my top customer who generally spends a minimum of 3k everytime she shops wasn't invited to this event and it doesn't make sense. It does help to be in the system and be recognized as a Coach customer but unfortunetly not everyone gets the invite and it wouldn't be as special if everyone did.

Also, it isn't just a discount card or coupon. It's a preferred customer event to a random selection of very loyal customers to Coach stores, it doesn't count for online shopping and etc.

I called two different Coach stores, including one that I spent about $500 at in the last month to find out about this. Both claimed that there was no criteria for who receives a discount card and that it is determined by the Corporate office and is completely "random". I know that I am in their computer system and have received the latest catalog, so I am assuming that I am also on their mailing list. Normally, I wouldn't care so much, but I would like to purchase the Legacy shoulder bag for my sister for Christmas!

now, i'm going to sound like i'm whining here (and i'm really not). i don't NEED a coupon/discount right now, so that has very little to do with what i'm going to say...
but doesn't it seem sort of wrong to have a preferred customer event at random? i mean, it should go to the top spenders- doesn't coach "prefer" them more than the people who spend less?
i've spent a fair share of my money lately at coach...and that is NOT to say i feel like i "deserve" anything for that- it was my decision to buy it all and i love it.
i really think they need to make a specific rule, like the top x% of customers...i mean, sprinkles' customer who spends 3k doesn't get one? what sense does THAT make?
i guess it just makes me (and probably anyone else who doesn't get one) feel like coach doesn't care. you know? like it's almost a personal insult (which, of course, i know it's not...but it almost hurts, in a very weird way to love the products of a company SO MUCH and them not care).
but like i said, it has nothing to do with "oh, i needed a new bag so i had to have that discount". thats not the point...
sigh.

I filled out the survey the last time I bought on-line. If you get a chance to fill it out, tell them what you think. I told them about the discount coupons and how they should do something different if they want brand loyalty. All they are encouraging at this point is the sales of the coupons on ebay. I am hoping my card shows up monday. Otherwise I will use the cyber monday ****** & Macys to get the bag I want...

i agree with you and i said the same thing in the survey...

and didn't webec (?) say that the extra % wasn't valid on coach purchases via macy's?

Right about the card not good at Macys. What I am saying is that I will pay the full price at Macys but use the cyber monday ****** deal and get more cash back... Beth
seems webec can't get a definitive answer on whether macy's is allowing the cyber monday stuff on coach.
she keeps changing her posts (one says yes, then no, then yes again...). or else it's just the regular 6%.
but, hey, if it works, go for it!

I understand where you are coming from. I've been invited to all the events this year. But I've been a loyal customer for years and recently have gotten invited. Like I've said before, it doesn't matter if I get one or not my SA's always take care of me. (Thanks Christina and Janice)

and i understand that, and that's great.
but i've talked to more than a few loyal coach customers (on tpf and otherwise) who have been EXTREMELY loyal for years and years, moreso than myself, and they take it as an insult when they aren't included.
and do you blame them?
like i said, i'm NOT griping. i just don't think the system in place is fair for the people who should genuinely be included. because if people know this is out there, and they're not included, there's no extra 'motivation' to be loyal. no one recognizes it. so why bother?

sometimes people get confused - i myself too.

so let me explain what i've accumulated so far about this event since everyone's interested.

every coach store has different clients first of all. there are stores that rake in a lot of moo-lah, and some that don't. or just not as much. let's say store A averages 800$ per customer, while store B averages only 300$ and so on...

this is based on the people who are in the system btw, a system that is done part computer and part human (as the entries are typed by humans) and therefore there are chances that an error could occur!

and these people who are entered in must have all information

and every purchase must be tagged with their entry into the system

in order for corporate to keep track of a store's clientental (sp)

and the rules of the event are

750 people per store, of the top buyers.

THAT can be complicated and vary from store to store. it's not a list that an employee or manager makes, so it's not personal at all.

and coach wants to be known for great customer service if you get my drift...

but like sprinkles said, it is something special, if given to everyone, then it's not so much anymore?

sales are always tricky, and i view this like a sale even though coach never has sales....

back to 750..the reason why it's complicated is that store A with the higher spenders, the chances are much harder to get one even if you do spend more then 250$

it'll be easier at store B

what's worse, if you go to several coach store and do not designate one store, one SA or two as your personal choices, it really gets hairy there.

and also, for those who spend thousands.

if it's from the same store

and it's never an exchange or return

and you haven't return the merchandise

and it's in one or two transaction versus ten, i doubt you wouldn't get it, UNLESS the area you shop in, there are a lot of high ballers.

in that case they beat you to it.

online orders, unless through coach stores, dont' count like mentioned.

factory doesn't count and FPS do not link with factory

and gift card purchases (purchasing one for another not to be confused with using one as that counts)

that's all i can think of now.

as for the random thing sprinkles is talking about

that may be referring to the "regional" PCE, where not all stores, at once, like this one, has a PCE event.

it goes from one region to another.

i know mine had it right after the PCE for winter, therefore, the previous PCE couldn't attend - i tried my best not to even mention it to them, or around them as they are always around in the store!

but this was completely random, in an attempted to draw back some people, supposedly big spenders, but i was on it, so i doubt that since i know i only dropped a couple hundreds.

THAT one i cannot explain.

but this one without a doubt, is a thank you. think of it as a F&F (don't all retail companies have it around this year?) but it's exclusive. you're a coach f&F, and we strive to make you like a guest in our store. aka home

I agree that they cannot call it a preferred customer event if the customers are chosen at random. There is nothing preferred about that. I agree that they ought to have standard criteria.

I'm not whining for a coupon, either. I bought my legacy bag and wristlet and scarf and charm in the last two months and I wasn't planning on making another large purchase before the end of the year anyway. But in the interest of brand loyalty and justice, their system makes no sense.

i'm sorry that you feel that way kallison, as any customers who are super nice to me, not even talking about loyalty as we are a tourist store mainly...get the best i can give them

and that's simply free shipping if it's not available in the store, 2 days or overnight, i try not to do ground, esp. if they are tourists.

i always grab the bag that is spankin' new versus rewrap.

if it's a bag that is not there, and they describe it, i'll do my best to look it up and see if i can order it.

if it's needed right away, i'll look up other stores, right down the info so it's easier once they're at the other store to get what they need versus wasting any more time.

my manager always says, "never say no" because we don't want you to leave disappointed.

and if its someone i know well, and does spend that much, like superstar said, even without one you can have no worries.

i'm somewhat shocked by what i've read, i really do feel that coach does the best to have their SAs be courteous at minimum.
