I'm interested in how long the lines are today. All the reports of standing in line all day yesterday only to be turned away sound terrible!

Per posts on Mizhattan's site, the line is almost towards 9th Ave, which is shorter than yesterday but that's not really saying much, is it? It all depends on how long people spend inside and how the line moves. Also, the same commenter is mentioning people cutting the line, so....

I went with my girlfriend yesterday and was a lot calmer. We were there around 1:25 and took about 45 min to get in. Here is my haul...

Five scarves limit is very tough. I got a 90 twill, a dip die, a jersey, a 45 and a beaded.

It was not an easy trip for us to go to the city during the week but with sales like this, let say we are happy girls at the end of the day.

You got nice things!
[emoji173]️ them all
Worth the trip[emoji4]

Good sale for me yesterday. I went at 10:30 and got in at noon. I went with a dear tPFer who helped with my scarf quota as he didn't buy any...:smooch:Anyway....I got mousselines..including a special beaded one, twills and some enanels. At these prices, it was hard not to buy more!

They were restocking and hope they continue to do so....I hope all who brave the lines are rewarded!!! Good luck!

Mousselines:

It was a good day for you
Great purchases!
Enjoy wearing them!!

I visited the sale yesterday, Thursday October 22nd. There was an issue 3 people in front of me while on line. A woman and her mother bribing a couple to feign friendship in order to cut the line, at that point, because it affected me, I walked up to a company employee, who insisted they leave the line and they complied. All in all, my experience wasn't a bad one, with that said, I am a "time equals money" type of gal. The amount of time I spent on line for (I am embarrassed to say-5 hours, I got there at 6:30am and made my way into check-in at 11:30am) saved me $1,355.48.Yes, I did the math!!!

I was an 1.5 hrs late to work, but working in the 'industry' they all understood (another sad reality).

When I got upstairs, there was no chaos, everyone was quite pleasant. Things were buzzing by the scarves and jewelry, but I find that if you are a civilized person you will be treated accordingly. I greeted each SA with a smile and exchanged pleasantries and they personally took care of me as if I was inside an Hermes boutique. Which was nice considering how long I waited on line. It was a pleasant experience, not being rushed and making purchases you may soon later regret.
On the other hand, I knew what I wanted so I was out of the sale in 25 minutes or so. There was no need to belabor the process. I bee-lined to the bracelets first, where I met the most knowledgeable SA, Tina, an older woman who knew Hermes in and out. I told her what color I was looking for, I thought I wanted 3 thin enamel bracelets in the same colorway, different patterns and sure enough upon her suggestion 3 different width bracelets worked best on me. She was so good, other women, who she had assisted earlier, returned to ask her opinion on other items.

As Tina was walking out the door to have her lunch, I asked her if she thought I should get a Twilly to wear with a watch on a more casual day, she told me what she thought would be best for me, which was the 90cm Carre, classic print. I didn't disagree, I thanked her and made my way back to another pleasant SA in the scarf section. She willingly went through several trays and a box of scarves, searching according to my chosen colorway and together we found me the most beautiful 90cm carre, Les Laboratoire des Temps in the most beautiful sage/deep green and grey palette.

There was no line at check out, I paid and was out the door!! Again, I knew what I wanted and got what I came for. I do believe people should be able to browse and carefully shop as they choose and not be timed while shopping, that's such a crude way to spend your money.

The company facilitating the sale, Soiffer Haskin, I find at this sale and others that I have attended to be professional people.
However, for top sales, such as Hermes, they may want to devise a ticketing system to better facilitate such a crowd. This may be a lesson learned for them, we'll see what the future holds next year.

Tina is a Soiffer employee and I've had the pleasant experience of working with her before at H and non-H sales. She's helped me find some truly fantastic deals -- many of which I've shared here on tPF in various subforums. I'm so glad you had a good experience and shared it with us.

I asked about a ticket system they don't do that. Hermes needs to change this. I agree, the Soiffer Haskin staff is very professional.

Professional line holder? Seriously? Ph.D.? I guess I shouldn't even make the effort to walk over for lunch. It's not worth the stress. Rather pay full price.

The limit is 3 bracelets (including jewelry) and 2 scarves. [emoji17]

The items you chose "must" be purchased in 1 hour or they are returned to the floor.

I didn't see many scarves. The enamels were plenty and there were a few leather bracelets.

The shoes, boots, ties a Rtw were in abundance.

Good luck ladies and gentlemen!

I worked with her, too, yesterday, and I was deeply impressed by her aesthetic eye and directness. Soiffer is lucky to have her. Hermes should hire her!

Very interesting details. Thank you for posting about the change.

What time do you think u will get in??

I was in at 9. Which was shocking because after the first 10 at 830 there was a long delay. While inside I noticed many people on the phone buying for other. They literally couldn't decide which bracelets to get and the SA were not happy with the people on their phones.

They are likely to get in right at 9. I overheard the organizers say that yesterday, the first set stampeded in...(the tone in the voice saying this was of disgust), so they might change how that first set is handled...

They let us in 10 at a time. I was in the first 60 to go in (when I first arrived I was 30th), I met lovely ladies on the line, we ate breakfast together while waiting for 3 hours!

Good luck today!
I didn't think anything could be worse than standing in the cold rain for hours last year...but yesterday sounded worse! :nogood:

Thank you! Aww I can't imagine.

Your finds are magnificent. How fortunate to have a friend to help with the quotas... There were so many beautiful scarves early in the selection.

Thanks, A! I wonder if we bumped into each other....probably!!!

I did pick up a few scarves for my sister, who was not invited to the sale, so technically, I was under the limit! I feel very fortunate to have been able to go and find some nice things! You certainly did too!!!:D
