Thanks! How do I do that without spending tons?
you will still have to spend a good bit, just you are doing it gradually lol. if you just basically want the bag, just go through a reseller so you can get exactly what you want. you may go through the trouble of buying a lot of stuff (that maybe you don't really want) and get offered bags you don't want.

these "games" are so ridiculous LOL. i think i'm ready to hang up the hat in obtaining a bag through a store (or getting another B at all for a llooooonnnggg time). i tell friends about all this effort and they think it's quite funny

Thank you. I do want the 25cm birkin as I am a small handbag used and it costs the least. Would they give me an answer if I call maybe? I plan on doing that when I get home.
you will have a hard time finding a b25 in the US. do you mean they will give you an answer on the phone if they will sell birkins to walk ins and/or clients w/o a history? then they won't give you an answer or just say no.

I`m pretty sure the policy is no Birkin or Kelly discussion over the phone. And the 25 Birkin is probably not likely to be available in the store as a walkin just because the size is not as popular as the 30s and 35s.

Ok I'll ask. Sorry for another dumb question, so I can be put on a waiting list for a birkin as a new customer then?

It depends on your store. Some say they have no wait list or won't take names, some will and some will only put down established customers. Sometimes you can get a bag just walking in. The best thing for you to do is go to the store you plan to buy from and get started with them by asking.

Remember also that you will pay whatever the price for the bag is when you receive it, not the price when you put your name down. So if it takes a year or two (or longer) factor in annual price increases. These have been in the vicinity of 5-8 per cent on bags but can vary.

Thank you for the advice. I really appreciate it. I plan on going to one that's outside of LA in Orange County as that's where I do most of my luxury shopping. I'll see if I can find a recommended SA from here on tPF for there. I do want two twillys and a bracelet though as I've been wanting the twillys for the birkin and just recently fell in love with the Kelly double tour bracelet.

Great! I believe there are three stores in SoCal so you are probably best off to pick one and see how it goes. There are also the Las Vegas stores. It's sometimes easier for walk-ins to obtain bags there because of the heavy tourist traffic. And of course, you can just decide to work with a reseller if you don't want to be bothered with the wait. Good luck!

Sweet thanks! That's true for the tourist traffic I didn't even think of that. There are a lot of tourists in BH and OC. Of course LV too. If no luck in the BH and OC stores then I might try San Diego and LV. I'll update what happens.

i've heard (and experienced) that scp is not a very nice store. i would try to establish a relationship with BH, they get more inventory than scp (and sd) and the SAs i met were nice and helpful. BH had the best inventory of the 6 west coast stores i visited.

Thanks! Great to know, I will try that. I just hope I can establish a relationship with an SA there without spending so much money. Do you happen to know anyone at the BH store? Not sure I want to buy preowned. Everybody on eBay overcharges for the bag. It is ridiculous.

In the world of Hermes, "establishing a relationship" IS spending a lot of money. Sorry. That's how it goes. Again, some people are lucky and get a bag quicky without spending much. But it isn't that common.

That's why people go to resellers. By the time you add up what you've spent in Hermes (and there is no guarantee of getting a bag or the bag you want) you may as well work with a good reseller. I have found many who do not "overcharge".

I suggest you do some more research on the stores in your area and on reputable resellers.

Have you gone in and spoken to a SA yet? Everything said here about what may or may not happen is irrelevant as each customer/situation is different. So even if we say, "go to this SA and ask this", if they say the wait list is closed, or say it is 2 years, or they take your request and toss it out versus actually remember it is totally out of our control, unfortunately. 25cm is very rare as it is, so the chance of a boutique having a 25cm, and not offering it to an existing, high-spending regular client who expressed interest is low.

it is hard to hear, but the amount a 25cm costs plus the amount you may have to spend at BH to be offered any B, let alone a 25cm in your ideal color, may work out to less $ than a reseller price. Don't rule them all out-- some that are pristine but previously owned pop up for reasonable prices once in awhile. It takes patience, but since you have time anyway, why not browse around the next couple months?
