New packaging

I think I will find an opportunity to ask the SA if they have a better packaging for pave pieces. Not sure what their response will be. I have quite a few of jewelry boxes and pouches that I don't really use, so I wasn't pushing to ask for a box since the magic pendant is flat as compared to other 3-D jewelry pieces like earrings, rings, etc.
For comparison, here is the new packaging VCA offers for the magic pave pendant - white paper box (thick base) with ribbon + a thin big pouch.

The old packaging I received for non-pave magic pendant - a white small paper box + velvet jewelry box. (+ travel pouch optional).

Thank you for posting this. I am slowly switching from Cartier to VCA so now I can practice anticipatory disappointment before my purchase. It gives me a perspective of what the package used to be vs. what it is now. What a difference: going from a luxurious velvet box to a pouch. A pouch! Sad. Imagine a Cartier Love Bracelet being placed in a pouch only.

This is a major turn off. If this is true, I will have to rethink my upcoming purchases. It is already way overpriced and they can't even put it in a box??
there is a box, no? the white one?

personally I'm ok with it. it's just like Hermès. box and pouch/dust bag.

Have you purchased Hermès Fine jewelry?
For gold jewelry (a few thousand USD), it comes with a orange cardboard jewelry box. For pave jewelry (usually 10k+ USD), it comes with a leather brown jewelry box.
I noticed you like to express your opinion in many topics. If you don’t have experiences in some topics, better to keep opinions to yourself, no?

Awww you’re so angry. It’s just packaging

The white box looks like the outer box they always use to put the inner box. That's how I see from the pic.

Hermes gives outer orange box and a inner box to house the fine jewelry.

I think I feel alot on this topic. Usually I don't give so many comments.... I would be so disappointed if I get my holy grail perlee clover bracelet in just a pouch.

They could have used recycled materials for the boxes instead of totally doing away with them. Even if they make it an option for customers to choose whether they want the box or not would be more palatable than removing totally

I'm not a buyer of VCA, not my taste and completely unaffordable for me, but @oranGetRee has the best suggestion. Switch to recycled packaging.

However, it must be remembered that we are in a crisis situation regarding the environment/waste/vanishing resources so I think it's fair and reasonable that many retailers will reduce packaging. The box and pouch are still very nice and surely what's inside is more important and doesn't change your feelings for it just because of one box less, does it?

I get that, but I think unless they see that their profits are not really being affected, they won't change.

with the enthusiasm of customers for the latest HP only showed that they have more new customers, and that they don't need to appease old ones, I think they will do want they want with the packaging as long as it's not affecting the final product.

Lol, I am not angry with packaging. I didn’t even ask my SA for old packaging.
I just replied to your post so you are aware what are being offered in Hermès fine jewelry packaging. So that no misinformation is spread.
and what I meant was Hermès items in general. when you buy a Birkin, unless it's special edition, it will come in a box and dustbag just like when you're buying a belt that is a fraction of the Birkin price. there is no differentiation even when the Birkin is one of Hermès' flagship products.

I guess we should just accept that VCA is cutting corners and maybe their previous luxe boxes are now only reserved for very expensive stuff like high jewelry or something

This is a luxury jewelry brand forum. Ladies here are comparing shopping experiences for different luxury jewelry brands. They are not comparing jewelry shopping experiences with purse/bag/belt shopping experiences. That is apple to orange comparison.

ah. to me it's all just... shopping. and I was comparing it to Hermès, which is also a luxury brand. it's not like I compared it to shopping for, say, a jug of milk.

but I get it. things are not the way they were and it sucks. but in the end your magic pave pendant is still what you wanted it to be. it's still pretty and probably not different from a magic pave pendant that came with a velvet box. and it's not like they handed to you in a brown paper bag. it's still packaged with what VCA thinks luxury is. and if that is not enough for you maybe it's time to take a breather and reassess if VCA still sparks joy in you.

@fice16 I am sorry this happened to you and the others. Whether one wants the box or not is not the issue. I only have a few Van Cleef pieces but the green box, the white box, the ribbon and the bag etc these are all part of the shopping experience. I actually even expect the travel pouch, which came with every piece I bought in the past, without even asking. It should be up to the customer to say if they want the extras. I leave all my Hermès boxes behind now but that's my perogative. This is not what I expect of luxury shopping and a brand who is so proud of their heritage as makers of fine jewellery. They could have looked at other options as suggested such as using recycled material. Even Dior beauty online gives you the option to choose plain eco-packaging. I would say this to Van Cleef - this is badly done. Badly done.
