New Chanel Purchase Limit Policy

OMG. NM SA just texted me to say she had the Rose Gold Trendy but I am over the limit. I told her I was asking for the WOC so that should count as SLG. She told me I can't buy until next year. (Which I mean it's Nov already) but still UGH. She also told me they are very serious. About 2000 accounts have been shut down already, some were very good clients. I told her Chanel has lost their damn minds.
This whole thing makes me so sad. I know I’m not the only one. I’ve been buying at least 1-2 classic flaps every single season since 2014. If Chanel cared to look at my account they can see that I am not a reseller but a genuine lover of the fashion house. It’s like I’m being punished for being a loyal client. I was just told that I am ineligible to purchase anything until January. I wish they had implemented this new rule in January because while we were all buying at the beginning of this year we could have planned out our purchases better had we known that there would be limits. It just seems really unfair to throw this on us with no warning. All this will do is strengthen the position of places like resale sites and resellers because we will have no choice but to pay their ridiculous prices if we want a bag that Chanel has forbidden us to buy. And I’m sure people will do it which just continues the cycle.
I'm on timeout until January as well. 2 months will feel like a lifetime. I hate it but not enough to use my DH or any other family member to get a bag lol. I figured any bags from now until January are just not meant to be mine.

Wow so many of us in this boat huh? Welp, then I don't need to spend any money...lol. But on another note if my Saks comes through with my 19 with the reverse HW, I will probably have to tell her I can't purchase. I wonder if I should tell her first? My NM suggested not trying to purchase anything because of the bannings. She is trying to get approval for my WOC from corporate.

Does anyone know how they are determining the shutting down of accounts? I honestly wouldn’t know how much I have bought and when. I’d need an SA to tell me I’m at the limit. Is it just people that are clearly trying to buy multiple bag and slgs in a month after being told they can’t?

I'm also afraid of asking for an exception for fear of being banned or dropped. Isn't it crazy that we even have to think this way? By no means am I a VIP but buying 12 bags a year is not small time either. The fact that Chanel would think about banning a $60K+/year customer is not something I can completely understand. But to Chanel I'm sure I'm very small fish and they may not care about losing a customer like me. If there are those that spend 6 or 7 figures a collection I can definitively state that will not be me.

I think it may have more to do with trying to circumvent the limits that lead to total banning. @TraceySH has said that even SA's have been fired. As of right now I am actually over limit, but I am not shut down completely, just can't purchase until January. Your SA would probably just tell you like mine did if you were not allowed to purchase that month or whatever.

My SA at both stand alone and NM told me the policy is 1 bag and 1 slg a month and no more than 6 classics a year. I told them both the policy is complete BS. Atleast have the policy be no two of the same SKUs. Why are they doing this? What does this accomplish? Clearly, resellers are going around this. My profile with Chanel is 20+ years.

If anything I feel like this is giving resellers even MORE of a platform because they find ways around it and they rest of us have our hands tied.

I knew about the 2000 accounts being closed, but those are all for suspected resellers. Exceptions CAN be made, but more likely that you are a VIC/ VVIC. When you are at limit, a popup window comes up disallowing the SA to process and order. A SD or SM can override. Exceptions are a pretty formal process now & go up the chain, but I believe it's status-based (most SD's know who the VIC/ VVIC are for their boutiques). Lots of headaches, for sure. We are far far away from luxury...

I’m actually surprised there’s not a list of hybrid boutiques floating around. Did I miss it? Does anyone know if the NM in Houston boutique is a leased or hybrid? I’m guessing leased because they print both a nm and Chanel receipt?
