New Chanel Purchase Limit Policy

Paying premium for a bag via resellers in fear of an increase doesn’t make sense - that person is typically is paying a higher premium than the increase would be, not to mention the color will more than likely come back!

This is exactly what I think but for some FOMO drives them to get that bag now, even if it means paying $2000-$4000 over retail, rather than wait because they think they'll miss it again the next time around. And now with stricter purchase quotas and scarcity of items going to resellers may be more enticing.

They are trying to oust the middle man (resellers) by limiting purchases & flooding stores with product that only new customers can buy. They are trying to capture the resale client and go around the resellers. They are increasing their client base, making the brand less exclusive. Not the other way around.

FOMO is a very real thing for some people and companies bank of it. When you are online and see things “only 1 left buy it now!” marketing wants people to feel pressured to purchase.

That makes sense also. Either way it goes a pivot is very noticeable.

I can imagine. In my case I may not be in their terms a "big spender", but that's one less sale my NM associate just made. Makes a difference to him.

Well, if you think about it- the items will sell eventually- just won’t be sold all in the first days the bags arrive…

Tried to buy a woc remotely yesterday and was told I had to wait until Monday as I am at my monthly limit. It’s absolutely ridiculous how they make us jump though hoops to find certain items and now I’m not allowed to buy it. This is actually going to encourage the reseller market just to avoid this nonsense.

That's terrible to hear, I'm quite irked to hear about all the restrictions placed.

Just got this text from a Sa I'm trying to find out sizes and prices of some slgs and I'm not sure if this store will be receiving this merchandise. And I'm being told one slg per month.

My SA said 12 bags per year when I asked but didn’t say I couldn’t do two in a month. I wanted two 22c bags as well. I’m not sure if when I try to get both, I’ll get them though.

Is it one bag a month per SA or one bag a month per Chanel That sounds bad just typing it but I’m trying to get the 19s that I want before the price increase on them and then move on over to Dior.

My understanding is one handbag and one SLG per month per Chanel (unless you can get it from a department store that’s yet linked to Chanel system). If you have received an item already this month and another item you want also arrived in the same month, you can 1) ask your advisor to hold onto it and ring it up in the new month if the store allows 2) pass this one and hopefully another one arrives in the new month to allow you to purchase 3) have a friend with Chanel profile and under purchase limit buy it for you (not sure if this option is still possible given all the new restrictions)

Thank you. I will just do a process of elimination and make that choice. For me it's not that serious.

I asked that same question yesterday and my SA said it’s one bag per month per Chanel. Said that if you try to get two bags in the same month from diff stores for example Chanel will ban you from further purchases.
