New Chanel Purchase Limit Policy

I was in Chanel with a friend today (did not plan to buy anything), but an SLG caught my eye and the SA attempted to order it in a specific color for me, and then told me she wasn't able to put the order through (had nothing to do with my payment because I had not even paid yet). She asked her manager and the manager gave her this card to give to me and told me to call the number. They said they didn't know what the problem was. I have had a profile at Chanel for many years, but I have not bought anything at all in probably over 6 months because my normal SA is on leave. Has this happened to anyone or does anyone have any info about this?

I keep getting told that I won’t be able to buy more than one bag per month so that feels wrong. And oh I’m so annoyed! Especially since it’s not guaranteed that a reserve bag will
Come on time in a month so then I skip a bag I could have gotten.

Rumors are now swirling about another increase and no more boxes....

These new “purchase limit” rules are so confusing! I purchased a pearl crush at the beginning of the month & tried to purchase a classic mini in a seasonal color recently but was told I could not (I’m in the US and have a good Chanel purchase history). So does this mean you can only purchase 1 bag (no matter the style/size/classic/seasonal) a month? Can someone please clarify, ‘cause different SAs say different things but when they ring up the purchase the system won’t allow it. :confused1:
I guess I really need to plan my purchases & hope I’m able to hunt down the bag I really want & not use up my purchase limit for a spontaneous one (takes the fun out of browsing the boutique though)

Yes, 1 bag any style, 1 per month, same for SLGs. This new rule came into effect this past October and has definitely killed the fun of purchasing Chanel. I found out when I went to pick up a reserve and then saw another bag I wanted, only for them to tell me I could only buy 1 bag. Rude awakening lol. Sucks having to think or time your purchases accordingly; you can no longer jump to buy that hard to find bag you want so easily. It’s pretty difficult especially when you don’t know when your reserve will come… my friend got her last 2 bags (gray 21b medium classic, 21k caramel 19) seriously at the end of the next season. I have gotten denied 3 months now lol, not fun. I recently drove two hours one way to go pickup a reserve which I had been waiting two months for (and already had been placed at the bottom of the reserve list once before ) and got denied because I had bought a bag remotely that had a big scratch at the bottom and that return wasn’t processed correctly. 2 hours one way, 4 hours total driving in traffic to get denied a bag even though I had the return receipt to prove I had returned the item 3 days prior! I tried sitting at the store on a call with 800 customer service for 30 minutes only for them to tell me only the store that processes the return can fix it. No bag that I had been waiting two months for…. 4 hours of driving in traffic. Tiring and not fun. Even stress inducing.

Thank you for the clarification & I’m so sorry you had to deal with this Chanel saga! How awful! Yes, shopping at Chanel doesn’t have the fun or luxury experience it used to. I recently went to the boutique to browse (I have a stressful job & going to the boutique was a respite but lately they have no new pieces & the experience is not luxurious). You wait in line for at least 30 min, once you’re in the stock is low, hot pieces sold out day 1 or haven’t come in, my regular SA tries to push me to buy something I don’t want, doesn’t offer water or anything & there is no holiday packaging even if I purchased. Needless to say, I left empty handed and frustrated that I wasted my time. I love the brand but the new system of operating is not what I am looking for.

Apparently I am completely banned now because I bought two pairs of earrings last May. I didn't even know there was a limit on jewelry. I would think that my SA would have told me there was a limit, but apparently my ban only went into effect in October, so I guess they are retroactively looking into people's profiles...

They banned you just because you bought 2 pairs of earrings? Perhaps they thought you’re a reseller? Also, shouldn’t the SA be responsible because she/he did not double check first that you’ve purchased a pair of earrings already? I’m only familiar with the purchase limits for bags and SLGs, but the SAs should be able to tell you that you’re over the limit for jewelry.

If you’re not a reseller, you should try to clear your name and ask for the ban to be lifted. Try to speak with someone at corporate that could help you.

The earrings I bought were two different styles and were purchased from one SA in the same transaction, SA said nothing at the time. They were two styles I reserved before they even arrived in stores. I'm not a reseller, just a (former) lover of Chanel. It would be ridiculous for them to even think I was a reseller considering my past purchase history of RTW and shoes only in my size. I didn't even really buy that much in the past year (and nothing in the last 6 months) since I am not a fan of Virginie Viard's designs. I tried to tell corporate it wasn't my fault I went over their limit and that the SA should have said something, but they nastily said their "decision is final."

So did they tell you that the ban is permanently or they’ll lift it at the beginning of next year?

It sounds really unbelievable that Chanel is doing this to obviously genuine clients who are not resellers. But really? Over just two pairs of earrings? I don’t understand why. Is everything at Chanel so popular that they have to be so hard handed? The earrings you had bought were costume jewellery I suppose? If it’s fine jewellery I would be even more flabbergasted.

This sounds a bit nuts. I actually went over my limit, unknowingly because the limits weren't strictly enforced until now. I was just told I couldn't purchase until January, not banned.

Several years ago, I got a "ban" letter. From speaking to them I figured out it was somehow because they thought I was a reseller. I explained that I don't even have or purchase, enough stuff to be a reseller...lol Luckily I got someone who believed me and got it reversed. I assumed they got me from monitoring FP, because I had just sold a few things to them.

Anyway as I said it sounds absolutely nuts. Why can't they just say no costume jewelry until next month or something? Why be unnecessarily *****y when you inquire? The person you got on the phone SUCKS. Sorry about that.

Wow, interesting…how do you think they would they have tracked your items to fashionphile (and does that even count as reselling since it’s definitely at a loss). Glad you were able to resolve that situation in the end!
