It is true that I posted one post in the "where can I find stuff" section about my ebay sales. I apologize I did not know that was wrong. I thought I read that it is not allowed to plug inauthentic stuff, and mine is not that. This post about my handbag is not an attempt to sell it.

I understand that if people could advertize here, than suddenly one would be overwhelmed with advertizements.

Believe it or not this is my first experience in any "blog". I have never before posted things and recieved responses from stangers. It is pretty neat.

I apologize to anyone I offended by mentioning that I sell on ebay. Can you blame someone for at a boat rally, mentioning that they sell boats? Or at a flag convention, mentioning that they have some great flags for sale? Kind of tempting, huh? Well, I apologize, and unless someone asks me I won't mention it again.

Best.

No, no. This blog and forum are here for everyone to discuss their love of bags. No questions asked! you may ask as much as you'd like!

Vlad and I try to keep the forum running well. We do not allow transactions, and watch other eBay links posted carefully.

And you asked again why people say you should sell the bag- I told you that if you don't love the bag, then you should sell it. I think that answer is a bit obvious!

Do you love the bag AofA? That would be the crux of the issue for me. You're always safe when you buy something you really love. If you love your bag, which I think is really pretty get the exchage and keep it. If not, get the credit and sit tight, Gucci is bound to have something now or later that you love, no?

Do I love it? Well, I don't think I have ever loved any bag at all. But also I have never even looked at or shopped for designer purses before. That is the problem. If I had stronger feelings about another purse then I could say, that what I think about this purse is lesser. But I haven't. I have been searching on-line for pics of purses to see what I feel about this or that. I am new to purse-shopping.

I did think I liked the style, and I was hesitant about the color. But then I wrote a woman who runs a purse website, BagSnob, and she wrote me, "Dear Jessica,

Thank your boyfriend for the genearous gift but you should definitely
return
the Gucci bag. The embossed horsebit is very bad. Get a store credit
and
wait for the new stuff to come in. Try to stay away from bags that
have
prints, adornments and horse insignia. Please check our blog often and
see
if anything catches your eye. For a bag purchase as important as
your's, I
would wait for that perfect one.

Hope that helps.

The Bag Snob

and

Dear Jessica,

That's it, you hit the jackpot, did you say Spy? That's exactly what
you
should do. I believe so much in investing in an ideal bag because in
the
long run it will save you money. Here you are getting a run of the
mill and
let me be brutal here, sorry, but an ugly horsebit bag and spending a
grand
for it!!!! The bamboo thing was over 5 years ago, the only people
buying
this still are in Asia and Australia who are notorious for being a
decade
behind. You will not be happy with this bag for long and will end up
buying
5 more of these so-so bags and still not be happy. Get the Spy, I love
that
bag, it will be around for a long time. Trust me, it will be well
worth it.

And to answer your other
questions, its tacky to have the name of the label printed all over
making
you a walking billboard. Its about the bag, if the bag is good, you
don't
need LV, GG, PRADA, etc. emblazoned all over.

What does it feel like when you love a bag? Is it like if there was only one left and it was in Kentucky and you were in CA, that you would somehow (if they could not ship it) rent a car and drive to it, or fly to it and then wait in line for hours before the store opens in the freezing snow with the last money in your wallet only to wrestle another woman down to get it? Is that bag love? (Learning...)

Hmmm surely you'll loved some material thing, had that visceral feeling?? The feeling is the same for handbags for me.

Well, I have a few circle skirts I am quite fond of, but as soon as the wide circle skirt trend is out the window they will be on ebay. I have a BCBG wide sleeved blouse I think is beautiful, but again, as soon as the Victorian thing dies off, ebay. Oh, I have a Carolina Herrera sweater I got from 7th on Sale... so nice, cashmere, love cashmere, but if someone offered me $500 for it, again, ebay. This is not good not good at all. I will ponder this question more fully. (haha)

Bag love to me is:

-Am I excited to carry it? Yes!
-Do I feel extra good carrying it? Yes!
-If I've ordered it, am I bursting at the seams to go home and open the package? Yes!
-When I do open it, am I grinning from ear to ear and rubbing my fingers over the leather, skin etc? (with my husband looking at me blankly. :p ) Yes!
-Do I keep looking at it whenever I get a chance? Yes!

Thats my bag love!!!

I am curious as to what bags in the past have given you guys this heart-fluttering feeling. Maybe I should take a look at them!

Also I wanted to add that the Gucci bag itself I got for Christmas was about $600, and the wallet $200, and with tax $920. There is also the financial side to consider. If I return them both I may only be able to afford just a bag and no wallet, or I may have to pay much more to get something I "love" more. It would be easier for me if money was not part of the consideration, along with the fact that the only other wallet I have is very beaten up and old, so it is nice to have a wallet. However I think people may have a point when they say that it is better to pay more money for something you really love. So, hence the search for that feeling "love" that will inspire my checkbook to open (when at the moment I have no job and I am just out of college). I wonder if it is more wasteful in my present financial state to keep a bag that is not perhaps the best, but that I like enough and have to live with it for years to come, or to spend $300-$900 more on something else. Thanks to my boyfriend however, and I love him dearly, I am $920 closer to my long held fantasy of owning a designer bag. Also, nothing is more important to me in the category of retail expenses, so I am willing to cut bag on clothes etc. for this and dig into savings.

Also, can anyone educate me as to kind of a time-line for the "it" bags of the past decade? Is there a website? That would be interesting to me. When was Gucci, or is Gucci still really cool? Did it have better moments with Tom Ford?

I have counted the comments and it seems that about 8 of you would exchange it for something else, and 4 keep the same purse. I am guessing then that the majority does not love it! You are right it is a personal choice, and I am not going to just "do what I am told" I am taking what everyone said into consideration. The red one I got for Christmas is in the outlet stores now. Best!

for myself...it's seeing the bag in the store or online and i just have an urge to go look at it to try it on. and when i do i just can't stop smiling because i loooove it so much. also, doing whatever it takes to get it! ...like spending my life savings (birthday, christmas, etc. money) on it when i really should be saving for college! right now i can't stop thinking about the chanel 2.55...i just love the shape an its elegance!

I think "fussy" details are like the little "bumps/horns" on the Fendi Spy and all the stuff that can dangle off a Botkier or the studs on a Bulga--I'm not picking on those bags per se, but I think they're more likely to be "trendy" bags rather than classics.

I think the bambo that they used on that particular Gucci is a little more "fussy" than if it were used as a handle like they've done in the past, or part of a clasp--then it wouldn't be so "fussy"--but that's just my humble opinion.

I think that a red purse is a great addition, I actually have a red Gucci. But I think the color that you have is a little more in the realm of burgundy rather than a real true, classic red. About my large top handle bag--I'm not a tiny, skinny chick, so I can't put it on my shoulder, but I'm sure there are women who could wear it that way. I love my top handle b/c it's great for looking casual, works for work (I'm a lawyer--it fits my laptop perfectly), and even looks very nice when I'm in more tailored, dressy clothing.

I just saw the black version of the hobo that you put in your response to me at my local Neiman Marcus (I'm in San Diego). It's a cute bag. I think the Guccissima line is really pretty--especially the interlocking G pattern, but that's what I like. I lean towards pure leather over cloth or purses with a blend of materials, one of the main reasons why I prefer Gucci over other brands like LV and Fendi. It doesn't hurt to keep "visiting" the bag that you're interested in and see how much you like it. I'm also a firm believer of putting your things in the bag, holding it against your body and seeing how it looks. Hope my input helps!

How does it feel when you have loved anything? A bag is afterall just a bag. Some materials put together. I think of my brother's and the cars they love- my brother LOVES his truck. He thinks about it all the time, wants to put more into it, washes and cares for it like it is his baby. but I can't tell you exactly what he feels.

I love my bags. I love them because of how they feel, look, etc. Would I die for them? Hell no! But I do love them. It is hard to ask us to tell you what love is... maybe you aren't into bags enough to have "bag love" persay. Is there something else that you indulge in that you love?
