My boyfriend has compared my love of handbags to the character Gollem's infatuation with the "ring" in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Is it fair to say that he doesn't understand? ..... Me Precious......

TheArtofAcquisition said:Hi, its me again, the girl with the red Gucci Bag.
I wanted to add that I emailed the woman or man who runs BagSnob. She responded, "Thank your boyfriend for the genearous gift but you should definitely return the Gucci bag. The embossed horsebit is very bad. Get a store credit and
wait for the new stuff to come in. Try to stay away from bags that haveprints, adornments and horse insignia." and "Here you are getting a run of the mill and let me be brutal here, sorry, but an ugly horsebit bag and spending a grand for it!!!! The bamboo thing was over 5 years ago, the only people buying this still are in Asia and Australia who are notorious for being a decade behind."
Do you agree?
Also, if you don't agree, and you do like it, do you like the color? Thanks again!
TheArtofAcquisition said:It is interesting to hear that someone likes the red bag I posted. People also seem to be suggesting the Gucci with the horsebit on the strap a lot.
I am thinking about Chanel, but I feel that from the pictures of the Fall 05 show the new release looks a tad small, and I like a bag that can adapt to whatever I may need to carry. Does anyone know however how much that Chanel re-release costs, and whether it is still available? Can one only buy Chanel from Chanel, and do they have a return policy?
Does anyone have any other suggestions for current it bags, and where to get. I see that Saks had the honey spy, and I thought about getting it just to try, as they have a return policy, but it seems they sold out on line.
Thanks for the posts, I always check back!

It's definitely good business sense, canvassing people in this forum to find out the sorts of things that we would buy. It seems so strange that you don't own any big-time bags yourself, yet are selling so many! Doesn't it hurt, having them in your hands and then having to give them away?
melisande said:That's really interesting. I can imagine that it would be fun to actually see and handle (and get really familiar with) a lot of the big name bags. I'm sure that I would be in danger of getting attached, if I started doing what you are doing! I'm sure that there is a way of running this sort of business and turning a profit, that's why I was curious re: how it was going. I'm not sure, re: your idea. Possibly this season's bags would make for better business. I do know that people get do get desperate to buy sold out bags from previous seasons and sometimes it's possible to make a profit from doing that (since you are the only source). So hard to predict, all 'supply and demand' and the market forces (etc. etc.!). Interesting to hear part of your story, though, from the 'other side' of things (as it were). Hope it all works out for you, and that you are able to continue on with it...
