NANO SPEEDY - Has anyone removed (cut off) their attached strap?

Yes, I want to know if it would void future repairs.

I asked my SA that question when I picked up my new old version nano speedy yesterday. He said it will void the warranty on the strap as I cut it off and it's now altered. But on the bag itself it would not void the "warranty". He told me LV really doesn't have a warranty per say. He said any issues with a LV bag is addressed individually so it just depends what is going on with your bag. I purchased a luggage tag and got it heat stamped so I walked around the mall to pass time. There was another LV in the mall so I asked the same question, if I would void my warranty if I cut my strap off and put clips on it. She basically said what my SA said. No it would not void the warranty and each bag is done case by case. Even with 2 LV SAs telling me this, I'm still not convinced! Hahaha

One thing to consider - and the only reason I mention this is because it happened to me. Sometimes when you remove a strap like this (which has a tight leather hold to the ring), you end up with a slight problem when adding a clip style strap. What happens is the bag now doesn’t have a correct security and will start to tilt, tip forward or shift weird when moving. Luckily the Nano has pivot points that are higher up so it might not make a huge difference but you won’t know until you do it. My situation happened when I cut off a strap (non LV) and as soon as I attached a clip style strap to it, it would tip around weird and not sit right. It was a light bag and didn’t have enough weight to it to keep it steady and straight up. I immediately regretting removing the strap. I realized why it was designed that way in the first place. The tight leather hold to the D ring gave it a structured ability to sit right against the body. By removing that security, it now was a dangly mess. Not saying this will happen to yours but maybe do some more research on it to see if someone else has tried this, and what their results are. And if anyone is reading this and considering to this to another bag, just take a good look at the design of the bag and see if it will lend itself to a clip style strap connection vs a tight hold leather connection. Hope this helps!

That is a very smart and intelligent point! Thank you! I have a matise mono strap. I will let the vachetta strap hang down or just put it into the nano so it's out of the way. I will attach my matise adjustable mono strap and see what happens! That's a great tip and hopefully this test will tell me what I need to know. Thank you!

A bit too much going on here? On the luggage tag with the Year of the Tiger I will use a small O ring like the one with the lock. Its the same luggage tag. I just flipped it over. Your thoughts please.

Ok guys. Ive been debating should I cut or not cut the strap and I finally cut my nano speedy strap off!!!!
my reasoning was, its only $1k bag and I really wanted to use it as a small top handle so I just went ahead and did it.

Good for you! I just bought my nano speedy yesterday. I like the strap but DO NOT WANT IT PERMANENTLY ATTACHED! UUUGH! I want it removed but am hoping I can just open up the D rings and slide the strap off. Do you think it is possible? What straps are you using with your nano speedy now? Any regrets? Did you add a lobster claw or clip to your nano vachetta strap? If you have any pics, please post. Thank you!

Hi everyone! My friend just purchased the Speedy 20. Here is a pic of my speedy nano (the old nano) next to her Speedy 20. Hopefully this will help those wanting a comparison of the 2. I tried her LV monogram guitar strap on my nano and it looks really cute! There is a shop in my area that works on LV bags. Sometime next week I will go down there to see what they can do for me re the vachetta strap.

Hey everyone. I just purchased the canvas mono bandouliere guitar strap for my nano speedy....but I have not detached (un stitched) the strap yet to remove it. Uuugh! Why am I so hesitant!? It's not like I'm cutting a hole in the bag, adding a back pocket or feet to the bottom of the bag! Hahahaha. I'm just removing the vachetta strap, adding clasps to it so I can still use it at times but I see myself rocking this nano with the monogram bandouliere or my gold thick chunky chain more often. Oh my gosh....it looks SO GOOD with a chunky gold chain (shoulder length not crossbody) and the mono bandouliere! I'm hoping someone will read this that has already removed their strap and is able to tell me if they regretted it?

I believe it's Jan 27th as my SA sent me a snap shot! To get confirmation call customer service as I heard sometimes they release early. I did hear at times it will show up in the boutiques before launch day so check with your SA as perhaps they are arriving now. I was in a LV boutique the other day and was told all pre orders for the new nano were closed. Not sure if she was referring to her boutique or all boutiques in general. I have attached a snap shot of launch day

Thank you! That’s so good to know! I worried that later if I wanted to replace the vachetta they wouldn’t allow it if the strap were cut off. I’m still scared to cut it off, but I def want to.

Me too! I want to remove mine (un stitch it) and I already purchased the canvas mono bandouliere guitar strap but I still am too scared to do it. Altho 2 SAs told me it shouldn't be a problem and 1 SA on YouTube said its not a problem....I'm STILL unsure about it. Lol. But if I do go thru with it I have decided NOT to put clasps on the vachetta strap I will sun tan it from a window from time to time to keep the patina on the strap and bag uniformed and just buy a detachable vachetta strap, either a pre loved one, one from etsy or a new one from LV. That way if I want to put the bag back to its regular form I'll have the original strap to sew back on. I hate to put clasps on it and then decide to un stitch again to remove the clasps. Too many holes. Lol. But I may speak to a cobbler first before I invest in a vachetta strap. Maybe they are skilled enough to make sure they don't duplicate holes in the area where you can tell it was taken off and put back on.

I would have went for it if it was the SAME SIZE as having a detachable strap is a bonus but to get the strap but in a smaller bag? No thanks. Lol

Mine is coming. Status showing shipped and eta 1st Feb.
I have the original nano and I am ordering the new one with detachable strap for my daughter. Now I know she won’t like it, but let’s see when she see in person. She said it can’t fit her books and she told me to keep it for myself. But I hope she change her mind. I will do comparison once I receive mine.
