To cut or not to cut?

I did it EVERYONE! :eek:I'm in a little disbief as it took a lot of contemplating before I got my seam ripper and started busting out the thread! . I removed my vachetta strap from my recently purchased Nano Speedy. :wtf: oh oh. Lol. Now that it is finally over, my anxiety is gone! Lol. I thought to myself, what is the big deal if I am going to put clasps on the vachetta strap anyway!?! It's not like I'm throwing the strap away. Lol. Altho the vachetta strap is simple, I do like it, I just do not want it on there all the time. It's a little bit too simple for me to be permanent. I like to have fun and be creative. I don't like doing this to a $1400 bag, as the price of the bag is what caused my hesitation, but now that it is done, I am happy and I have no regrets. I'm taking my strap to a cobbler tomorrow for an estimate. I got one already for $45. What I was told by one SA is perhaps I can send it to LV for them to put the clasps on. I will text MY SA tomorrow and ask if that is possible. If so I will definitely do that! The sky is the limit now with this bag. The one nylon strap with the round canvas pouch (I forget the name) looks sooo good on this bag but no way will I pay $1k for a strap! Lol. Here are some pics for those that are curious.

Mine is coming. Status showing shipped and eta 1st Feb.
I have the original nano and I am ordering the new one with detachable strap for my daughter. Now I know she won’t like it, but let’s see when she see in person. She said it can’t fit her books and she told me to keep it for myself. But I hope she change her mind. I will do comparison once I receive mine. :graucho:
Wow! Congratulations! I bet your daughter will fall in love with it regardless! What a nice and cool mom!

Wohooo! Big Congratulations to you! It looks so good with that chunky chain. You made it! Do you have any lobster clasp to attached to the original leather? If LV can help you with it then its really a good news. Looking forward for updates. Enjoy your bag in good health. I can hear a sign of relief now that you finally did it!

That chunky chain is fire! Where did you get it? Attaching different straps almost makes it a whole new bag. I’m loving all of it!

I saw it suggested somewhere else to not attach clasps to the original strap. If you decide you want to sell it in the future you can have it reattached to the bag.

Hahaha! Yes! Relief! Lol. I love the chunky chain as well as it's the perfect length and it brings the nano tucked under arm (but not in my pit! Lol). It's so cute! I just texted my SA to ask if I can turn in my strap as a repair and have LV put clasps on it. If not I have 2 cobblers that are able to do it. One said $45 and I have to wait 1 week for it, and the other I will know quote and time later today. I don't have the clasps but they do. It won't say LV on them obviously but I don't care about that. I have seen some clasps with a similar style on Amazon and they are not expensive. I do want clasps smaller then what's on the LV guitar strap as I feel it flows better as the nano is...well, nano. Lol. I have also thought of just buying another vachetta strap as well (from Etsy) and just keep mine untouched so if I ever decide to re attach it, it won't have to be taken apart again as the strap is not only stitched, but also glued. It's not that difficult to lift up but it does pull on the leather (the raw side) which I'm sure will just weaken the area if it is constantly lifted up over and over. I may end up passing this down to my grand daughter (she's 14 so later on in life) and perhaps she may want it back to the original way. Who knows, maybe she'll be like her grandma and will want to be creative with it!

Hi there! Thank you! I'm loving it as well. You know thanks for bringing that up about not putting clasps on it. I was thinking about that, not doing that and just holding onto it in case I want to add it back on later. I can put it out for sunlight time to time to keep the vachetta color the same as the bag. I can get a new vachetta strap on etsy for about the same price of having a cobbler put clasps on. You know, I think I will do that! Thank you! The only thing is some of the vachetta straps have just too much red! I'm not trying to have my AUTHENTIC Nano Speedy look FAKE! :no:LOL. I know some are better then others. I will research. I will take your advice on this! Thank you!:hugs: I got the chunky chain on Amazon for about $15. I bought it for my Toiletry 26 but will use it on my nano too. The one I got is Antikes color (it's antique gold...so more of a muted not so bright yellow) and it looks great but is a different tone of gold then LV traditional hardware. So just go for Gold if you want it to match more closely. Here is the link.

Thank you! I would like to believe I was brave and not........., you know. Lol. At the end of the day, it's JUST a bag right!? I'm loving the new look it has! I'm ordering my vachetta strap tonight. I'll hold onto the original vachetta strap in case I want to add it back on in the future.

The color I got is named Antikes (which I personally think is a typo for antique). Lol. It is gold but has a brassy tone, such as antique gold does. It does NOT match up with the gold hardware on LV. If you want to match up with the traddition gold color on most hardware, I would choose Gold. It's a nice chunky chain. It has good "quality" weight to it but not so heavy as if you purchased it from Home Depot. Lol

If LV would be willing to put clasps on the end of the strap- that would be a total game-changer. I would be willing to samurai my strap as well! Nano looks great with all the different strap options- thanks for sharing!
