NANO SPEEDY - Has anyone removed (cut off) their attached strap?

To cut or not to cut?

If LV won’t do the work and you can take the strap off without cutting it, (or have someone resew the strap closed) there are lobster clips on eBay that you can buy with a post that fits through the end of the strap and screws into the lobster claw.

I used them for a redesign of another bag I have and I’m really impressed! They also come in gold.

Here is my Nano with strap cut off and my adjustable Vachetta strap from Organize my bag ❤View attachment 5311782
Hey! We are TWINSIES!:hugs:I'm not alone here! Lol. So, no regrets I take it? How is your strap with naturally darkening with the vachetta on your nano, have you had it long enough to tell? I have been wondering about the after market vachetta leather straps, if they will darken with the nano speedy vachetta or will it stay light or not darken at the same rate? Is your glazing more red or shinier then the glazing of your original vachetta strap that came witj the nano speedy? My friend purchased a vachetta strap from Amazon. The leather itself is beautiful and matches the vachetta leather strap on my nano speedy but the glazing is deeper red and more shiney from the Amazon strap then my original vachetta strap. However, that glazing does match perfectly (the color and shine) of the vachetta on my handles. So, in other words, my nano speedy has light red coloring on the original vachetta strap with NO gloss on glazing but my handles are dark red with glossy glazing. So I guess it doesn't matter too much as it came mismatched to begin with but I am hoping to purchase a strap that matches my original vachetta strap only because that is how my bag came when I purchased it from LV. I just really love this bag! I used it today with my monogram canvas bandouliere guitar strap. I added a short link gold chain to convert it to a crossbody length and imo (and 2 friends) it looks really good! I used the bandouliere on its own as a crossbody too with the nano speedy and it looked SO CUTE and trendy with that cute little thing sitting up high! Lol.

I haven't really had them long enough to see if they patina at the same rate they are both pretty new looking still, but I imagine they will as it is "raw" untreated leather the same as LV. No regrets at all. I'm a super shorty, so as well as it being a bit annoying that it was undetachable, it was also bit too long on me. I guess if I hadn't done it I may have considered selling for the new one coming out but I actually like the shape and capacity etc. better anyway.

Same here! I like the size and shape of the "older" nano speedy but I do appreciate the treated vachetta and the adjustable removable strap on the newer version. I just got my nano about 1.5 weeks ago. If the size of the new one was the same size as ours, I would have held out. As soon as I found out the new version was actually smaller I REALLY went into action checking with my CA on the nano and when it arrived, I IMMEDIATELY purchased it over the phone. Hopefully there are a few out there left for the people that prefer the old nano. I'm assuming production on the old version has stopped as the new one has launched. For those wanting the older version, check with your CA. There may be a few left in inventory. Mine was made in October 2021 and I got it in January 2022.

People who had sold the orginal older model Nano waiting for the newer model probably will regret now, who would have known the newer model is so much smaller! I guess LV intentionally made the new model so small so it won't compete in the market with Speedy 20 since Speedy 20 is close to $2,000 as right now, much more expensive than Nano Speedy

Oh yes! Good point! I didn't even think of that! Some may prefer the new nano due to the treated vachetta and removable strap but for the extra cost, I'll stick to the old nano! I removed my strap (un stitched it vs cutting) and I have ZERO REGRETS! It's a game changer for me! Changing the strap really elevated my nano!

What do you all think? My bandouliere is too short as a crossbody strap so I added a short chain to act as a strap extender and added a round coin pouch to make my own bandouliere strap with pouch hack. Is it too busy, tacky, etc? I just have too much time on my hands! Lol.

I finally pulled the trigger and cut it off last week. I had the bag since oct 2021 and was contemplating whether to keep the strap or not. The strap it comes with was too thin and sometimes got tangled on the D ring. The bag got no issues so I have waited for the leather to patina a bit then chop chop, to match with my detachable 16mm monogram strap with patina leather. No regret and it looked even better and balanced than before

Nice! Feels good doesn't it?! Lol. I just had mine for about 2 weeks or so before I removed my strap. Are you having issues with your chaps? Mine are lifting up on the pointy part. I believe it's due to it brushing against my body but that's no excuse as it's a crossbody bag. I'm not going to use it holding it away from my body. Lol. Anyway I took it in for repair (without the strap) and I was given a 6 to 8 month wait! Luckily my SA stepped in and spoke to managers and it will be 3 months. Still that's a long time! I had my bag less then 1 month!

If LV would be willing to put clasps on the end of the strap- that would be a total game-changer. I would be willing to samurai my strap as well! Nano looks great with all the different strap options- thanks for sharing!
No, LV will NOT put clasps on the nano speedy strap I removed. Yep I asked and was embarrassed as I figured they wouldn't but I wanted to "make sure" so I asked anyway. Lol. They did accept my old nano speedy (that I had less then 1 month) for vachetta chap repair. 2 of the chaps in the back are lifting on the pointy ends (1 worse then the other). They will replace all 6 chaps free of charge. I had no push back thankfully for my repair although my strap was removed.

i like the old nano speedy better. i dont like the color of the treated vachetta of the new nano speedy. you can always patina the vachetta yourself to get the color you want so i don't really see that as an added bonus over the old nano.

i guess the main draw is the removable strap. i'm glad i kept the old nano speedy because the new nano speedy is wayyyy too small for me. i most likely won't cut mines since i like crossbody bags :)

Agreed!! No regrets .. anyway the chaps on mine so far no issues yet, hopefully it stays that way
