Hello darlings! What is it now? Wednesday. OMG.
This past TPF meet in Vegas was a whirlwind of activities, fun, food, and new friends. H bags galore (big, small, bright, neutral, classy, fun) and silks every which way I looked. I also loved seeing how people personalize their bags with twillies, charms, rodeos, and more. It's really great fun to see how all our personalities come out in the bags we choose.
I have only now finished unpacking and putting my scarves back in their drawers. And of course, after the clean-up, comes the fun! Taking photos of new purchases. I was really trying to "be good" on this trip, especially since it was on the heels of Paris. I felt I had done enough damage there already lol. But then something fell into my lap...and well....I couldn't say no.
Here's what happened. (I apologize if my stories are yawn inducing. If you're short on time, don't feel bad about skipping ahead to the photos) I arrived in Vegas on Thursday to meet up with my sis and her BF. I also had some "business" to take care of at Hermes. I needed to find a group gift for dear Chkpfbeliever as a thank you for organizing the Vegas National Meet. Prior to the meet, many of us had contributed money to buy her an Hermes cake and another small H gift. I already had something but needed to exchange it and I knew what I was looking for. I was on a mission to find a twilly to match her turquoise K28.
Sis and I went to Bellagio first and luckily found the twilly I had in mind. Success! Here's a photo of her lovely kelly and her group gift Millefleurs twilly. Chkpfbeliever- I hope it's ok I put your bag in the spotlight here on this thread! Perfection!

I was also slightly distracted by an etain MM Picotin on display and after playing with it for a bit, I decided it was very pretty and would be super useful but alas....it did not make my heart go pitter patter.
So I think I should back up here a bit and tell you about my obsession with Picotins. I'm not sure how it started TBH. I think it was right at the beginning of my H journey. The first bag I ever purchased was a Pico. At first I bought it because it's price was palatable to me (a newbie) and I thought it was cute. I thought I may eventually grow tired of it and move onto other bags but that didn't happen at all! I did move onto Kellys and Evelynes, but my fondness for the Picotin has never subsided. To me the pros with a Pico are you can get a fun color (because it's rather small and a bright color doesn't overwhelm), it's under the radar unlike a Birkin, it still has the utility of a small tote (just reach your hand inside without fiddling with flaps and locks), the handles are so so comfortable in the crook of your arm, and the price is not too eye-watering. I've never been able to commit to a Birkin so the Picotin is the best solution for me and my life-style. But of course, I have to make life difficult for myself because I only like one size. The MM size. Which unfortunately, is the hardest one to find.
So out of habit, I ask for them whenever I go to a H boutique. Just to see what they might have. :grouch: Most of the time I just get a head shake from the SA - no - nothing in MM. And a reminder from the SA that it's the scarcest size. Yeah - yeah - I know.
So while we were in a H shopping mood, we decided to take the tram from Bellagio to Crystals to see what else they might have. Sis was looking for a colvert calvi, I wanted more malachite accessories or another color baby pavane, and of course I'm always interested in 140cm silks too.
My Crystals SA was not there but another super nice SA greeted us at the door and said she would be happy to fill in. We looked in the Calvi drawer - no Colvert. Only in a Bastia. Shoot. No baby pavane bracelets...discontinued.

No accessories in malachite. We were striking out left and right. So as is my habit, I asked about a Picotin MM. Instead of the normal head shake no, she lights up and says they have a prunoir one! Well, now we're talking...let's have a looksee!
She comes back with 2 boxes and looks disappointed. She had mis-spoke. No prunoir. But she did have an etain MM (just passed on this at Bellagio) so I said no and explained we just saw one at Bellagio and it wasn't for me. Then she says she has another one... a blue indigo/orange poppy eclat. Say what? Come again? I've seen them in PM but never MM. So I confirm that it's a MM before she breaks open the shrink wrap. She says yes, it's a MM and with gold hardware. I nearly fainted. She might as well have just told me she found a unicorn prancing around in the stockroom and was able to catch it and bring it to me. I was giddy. And to tell you the truth, before the trip to Vegas, I had been thinking in my head that I needed a casual bag in dark blue. I was thinking more along the lines of blue sapphire but hey, we all know we can't be picky when it comes to H!
She opened the box and I was a goner. I felt guilty for a millisecond...but then realized I would be CRAZY to leave that unicorn there. So here she is! I think she goes quite nicely with De La Mer Au Ciel. And because I'm not a stickler for exact color matching, I think my capucine illusion bracelet goes nicely with the orange poppy underneath the handles. I also like her with my en desordre twilly.
