As requested, here is a photo of my Hapi 3 in Malachite. When I decided to head down the H leather bracelet path (ahem...rabbit hole) I invested in two CDC's, one Black with GHW and one Barenia with GHW. Although I like them, I do not wear them often as everyday bracelets. When I looked into Hapi bracelets, I thought I would get the double tour since you get two colors on one bracelet. But then when I tried the Hapi 3 I really preferred it on me because it gives a decent amount of the leather color you choose, kind of the way the larger bracelets do, without the heavy hardware associated with something like a CDC. Plus, for me the Hapi 3 fits perfectly without sliding around on my wrist. I now have a nice collection in various colors...they are kind of like candy no?? (and a relative bargain by H standards!)

Bova I love this color combo! I also have the two cdcs that you have (except my barenia one is PHW) and I agree that it can be hard to wear as an every day bracelet.

I have always loved malachite, but now even more. BOVA THE ENABLER

I am definitely going to try my dear Bova[emoji8][emoji8].. You have certainly enabled me now [emoji3][emoji3]

Right dear momasaurus? Bova is an amazing enabler for sure [emoji173]️[emoji173]️... I just got a malachite KD last week but now I want this color in everything [emoji23][emoji23]
So sorry ladies!! :giggles:

Bova I love this color combo! I also have the two cdcs that you have (except my barenia one is PHW) and I agree that it can be hard to wear as an every day bracelet.
Thanks perfumegirl!

All right...today let's talk about the scarf I chased down and thought was my grail until I tried it on and found out it did not work for me! :crybaby:

I have to admit. I'm not sure if I was thinking straight because it was the huge storm of early 2014 in the Northeast. DH and I lost power for 5 days and were living out of a hotel that had a generator. We were frazzled! We had to go back to the house periodically to make sure none of the pipes had burst (because there was no heat in the house), continue working, and try to beg the power company every couple of hours to restore the power on our block. But we were one of the lucky ones. Can you believe it? The first day we lost power, DH and I checked into a hotel in King of Prussia right away because we are wimps! We cannot tolerate the temp in the house lower than 60 degrees so hightailed it to somewhere warm Day 1 of the power outage. Others waited and had to eventually move into hotels that were 30-50 miles away from their homes. Some people continued to live in their homes with no hot water and no heat! Eeeeeek! So you see, I don't think I was thinking clearly at that time. It was craziness all around.

I was probably spending too much time on eBay because I was stuck in our hotel room for 5 days. Except of course, to go to the Hermes in KOP and buy everything in sight (which I did too). Retail therapy works wonders. And it didn't help that there were some people on TFP who shall remain nameless that were crazy about this design. So I think this craziness is definitely contagious and I decided I needed to have it too. And on top of this, I just bought a burgundy Chanel bag and didn't have a scarf to go with it. So you see, Snowstorm + TPF + New Bag = :cray::cray::cray:

I can't even remember what price I purchased this one at. It wasn't crazy outrageous...just normal outrageous I think. Somewhere in the 4's I want to say. I bought it and waited for it to arrive at the hotel! And now I want to say it's a good thing I am a photo hoarder or I wouldn't be able to show you all the pics of this scarf. My mod pic was taken in a hotel room hence the bad lighting. I also have some ones which I later took when I listed the scarf for sale.

Ok, enough of the suspense. It's Lumieres de Paris. I thought I would love it. I liked the idea of the stain glass, and the angel in the middle, and the bordeaux color which I thought would go great with my new Chanel bag (which it did) but I could not get myself to love it once it arrived. I didn't really like how it looked folded on the bias, I thought the colors in it were a bit hazy, and I didn't like the shading throughout the scarf. I felt that in some places, it kind of looked like it had bald spots. Like the color had not been applied properly but of course, it's just the shading design but it was not my preference.

I don't think I looked carefully enough at the photos on the listing. The seller did absolutely nothing wrong. I just wasn't diligent to zoom in and see all these little details I didn't really like. I was overcome with a desire to have it and didn't go through the normal checklist before I bought it. I also should've been more careful at looking at the biases and imagining it tied. So of course I was disappointed when I opened the box. I knew right away it wasn't for me as soon as I popped the lid off. I tried to like it, I really did. But after owning it for 6 mos, I decided to release it back into the world and let someone else who would appreciate it own it. So that's my story. Anybody else want to share theirs?

I get you totally! I high tail out of my place 3rd day of power outage

On 2nd day I drove to my company office all the way in south NJ to work , take a shower n spent 1.5hr waiting on line to fill out my gas for my car. I end up spending rest of power outage at my aunt house! I get to do my laundry for free n eat cooked hot meals prepared daily by my aunt [emoji16]

Sweetie, if I share all my grails that turned sour when in my hot little hands, your thread will be swamped . That's not to say I shan't be sharing some soon…..

What to say about this Lumières de Paris ?
If you had said it was one of your favourite scarves I could have believed it , you seem to have an affinity with aubergines and browns , and seeing it next to the bag it looks fabulous .
It depends which hat I wear when I look at it as to whether I love it or not.
One way it reads, beautiful angel, stained glass, sultry smoky purples .And I really like that shading , it seems to add depth.
Another way it pulls a teeny bit gloomy and old fashioned . Stained glass plus angels can feel very gloomy indeed [ I won't use the F word ]which is why I've always felt torn myself .

I'm sure it sold very quickly so no harm done .This is a super Grail for so many .

MYH I saw Carnaval de Venise on Scarf Addict's blog when I was googling H scarves with a mind to selling my small collection from years back .
I caught a real H virus there and then , I had to get that scarf straight away and paid over retail .
When I unwrapped it I was bowled over by the intensity of the colours, the design and the jacquard, it is an amazing design .
However as soon as I put it by my face I could see that my sallow complexion turned liverish and however I tied it to hide the bright cold blue it was always going to look bad on me .
I only have an old photo of it on me , and I'm afraid the photo on the mannequin is courtesy of the Internet.

I could name ten or more other scarves I've seen looking wonderful on others, on blogs usually, bought myself and been disappointed how little they become me.

Now I've learnt to admire and leave it at that . Usually !

Well I feel a bit better that MYH and frou frou both have had a mistake or two. You both always look fabulous.

MYH I don't know what to say about lumieres. It's nice, especially with your bag. But it's probably not as wonderful as the rest of your scarves.

I'm getting close to the point of wanting to start editing my collection but I'm not quite there. I don't really want to give any up. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Oh MYH, such a great story especially about the storm whipping you into a spending spree. I've looked for a lumieres for ages, especially the blue, but gave up after seeing the escalating prices. I will not share my latest obsession though it is a 90 for fear that it will raise prices with eyes on our silk threads about our various hunts,

I too have had quite a few misses. Three times I bought vintage a la gloire de la cuisine francaise, and each time sorely disappointed in the faded colors, poor condition and the way it tied. Then guess what? It was issued in a special edition 70 for La Bocuse fundraiser and boy did I swoop on the opportunity to get one all the way from Los Angeles from the organization who offered to sell me one, it was the perfect size, coloration and it was NEW! I laughed at your story, though sad that the angel did not work her magic for you.

Another grail that was difficult for me initially was my Pavements. I leaped at the chance to buy this one though the seller did not mention it's very distressed hems. I practically cried seeing the hems mistreated when it first arrived. Seriously some one had sent this silk to a dry cleaner where it must have been pressed to death. The photos only showed one section of the hems which where not so bad. I nearly sent it back but could not bring myself to part with it after such a long hunt.then the issue of the yellowish pale background color which is a problem for medium Asian skin tones. It was nearly a year after every I received it that I happen to be wearing a pale sweater and needed a silk for the cool temps in the evening. I dug though the silks and was reminded of the pavements. It brought me great joy to see it finally worked, a truly serendipitous moment.

Ah those grails will haunt our memories but sometimes, the right timing and accessory will just make it work. Not always, but if you really love a design it could come back on trend or your wardrobe choices shift ever so much to enjoy it again.

Here is the distressed hem Pavements and I will look for the Bocuse a la Gloire.

Oh, the timing of this post! I saw a cream/blue/red cw of Lumieres a few weeks ago in a consignment store. It looked pretty on me but it was pulled quite a bit in one corner and the hems were somewhat flat. I wasn't sure and I had spent my fun money budget for the month, so I was a good girl and waited. It just so happens I went back today just to see if it was still there and of course it's gone. :( I didn't know it was a grail!

This is a really interesting topic.

Myh I have considered this scarf too, but I must admit I don't really care for this CW because it reads more brown than burgundy to me.

Frou Frou that venetiennes scarf is gorgeous, I could probably wear those colors, but I do see how they are not your best CW.

Lanit both are beautiful! Originally I wanted a blue pavements, but seeing how much pale yellow is in your CW, I am glad I ended up with the teal one. The pink/ red scarf is the best CW of that design I have seen!

Hi there! I'll b back Monday (Pirula is really on top of things and asked about my disappointing Grail) with another post but for now, I wanted to share a lovely photo of Point d'Orgue moussie and my malachite Kelly along with my new baby pavane malachite bracelet my SA hunted down for me. And congrats PbP for finding that CSMC. It looks beautiful on you!!

How pretty is this! :tender:

This is great Bova. Though on you it looks like a Hapi 4 not 3! I suspect it might do the same thing on my wrist. My PM KDT spins. Great color! And it's perfection with your Brandenbourgs, which I feel the need to point out I don't recall seeing mod pics of... :graucho:

Well. I'd been looking forward to this post as you know, and it was as educational as I expected it to be. It's a shame, but it sounds like you know very well why this scarf didn't work for you, there was no guesswork involved at all. Wonderful that you let it go to a new home instead of having it burden you from the closet, never worn. Burgundy is a tricky color on me. If it's too brown, forget it. If it veers toward the plum then great. I could never, ever, in a million years wear this cw with the burgundy AND gold. But this isn't about me. I'm curious, do you think you'd love this in a different cw? The blue one seems just divine. Or do you think that the details and shading would still be the details and shading and this design is just a no go for you in general?

Oh MYH, such a great story especially about the storm whipping you into a spending spree. I've looked for a lumieres for ages, especially the blue, but gave up after seeing the escalating prices. Thanks pirula, and yes the Hapi 3's are definitely Hapi 4's on me lol! I will try to rectify the Brandebourgs mod pic situation very soon, I promise! I have a KDT as well, and I actually end up almost always reaching for the Hapi's instead...so easy to wear...hint, hint ;)

Lanit, I have always been intrigued by the Cuisine Fr, so your news about the 70 is exciting! It looks lovely.

Oh yes! I remember the gas fiasco too. Depending on the last digit of your license plate number, you could fill up on odd or even days to help reduce the line up at the gas station! Yikes! Memories I want to forget!

Usually !
I totally understand how you fell for this one and why it disappointed. The colors are just so Wow! but would be tough for almost anyone to wear. Thanks for sharing your story with us and for making me feel better about my mistakes!

I am laughing at myself because Pavements is another one I jumped at and now want to rehome! I thought I was obsessed with mosaics but now I see that mosaics are not obsessed with me! I'm glad your A La Gloire had a happy ending. The colorway you found is indeed perfect for you.

It's ok Klynneann. Since the scarf had damage, it probably wasn't the right one for you. But what a coinkydinky that you saw this and I happened to post about it. We must have H telepathy.

You are exactly right Scarf1. I missed that the burgundy was more on the brown side than red side. But it's so funny...I like browns and I like reds. But I guess brown/red is no good for me. You are so wise to have seen this already and not made the same mistake I already did! :D

I thought I would change up the pace today and show a twilly I purchased recently. It's from the new SS2016 collection and I'm so grateful I have a SA willing to track down any cw I want in the country and have it shipped to me. So as I mentioned before, bags are demanding! They need silks and shoes and bracelets to coordinate with them. So as many of you know, I bought a malachite kelly recently and only had 1 twilly to use with it. Oh the tragedy! I had to correct this issue immediately. I've always loved mythiques phoenix but other than the one elusive and very expensive black/white/prune cw, the others just didn't look good on me. So this twilly kills two birds with one stone. I get to have the Mythiques Phoenix pattern (cw12)and my malachite kelly gets another twilly. Oh and I have to add...twillies don't count or add to our overall #'s in our scarf collections! They are so little so are basically just rounding errors. So here she is with some accessories as well...
