So here she is, one of my most prized possessions....Turandot.

Lovely lovely post MYH I could read your words all day , you have all of life in there ! I can feel your angst and then your joy .
No wonder, it's a fabulous scarf and my favourite pattern too . Funnily enough the navy border doesn't impact on its beauty for me , in fact I feel that there's a perfect symmetry and balance with the interior .
Imagine it with a contrast hem and no border , it would look awful, no?
[ In fact now that H have heard our cries for to the edge design, no border and a contrast hem, for me it's started to pall . Perversely I've started liking borders now …]
Something about the central medallion and the flowers against that maze-like trellis
in this colour way gives it a slightly geometric vibe which I love .
So happy to be your twin on this one , completely different to the red I've had for ages .

My unsolicited opinion:

I was for Zenobie over CI from the beginning. But Bova, I was very surprised by how well the CI looked in your modeling pics. Beautifully becoming. I agree there's a lot of border. But it seems to me that's what's softening it. I was wrong. Not that Zenobie won't also be beautiful, and definitely softer. I just want you to know that the way you wear the CI convinced me that it's a winner on you. Yes, it's bold. Yes you can carry it beautifully.

In the end you have to love it. That's that. Just believe me when I say you rock the CI; that's shouldn't be the concern.

Bova As a serial second-thinker and returner of scarves I feel for you.
If I take a glance or see a photo of myself in a scarf and feel it doesn't look great on me ,I usually return it . It has to look great too !
It's a hard one because it does look good on you and you've had some honest and positive appraisals , but in the end if you don't love everything about it whatever others think is immaterial .
I would keep it and play around with different outfits and ties for a week before deciding.
Just a thought: my Mother always favoured 'showing skin' above strong pattern or colour .What if you try with a scoop neck or camisole under a jacket and tie the scarf lower?
Thank you so much for your sage advice and input pirula and froufrou, I am very sorry MYH, I did exchange my CI for the Zenobie scarf. After thinking about it and trying on Zenobie again today, it just feels more like "me". I also think it accomplishes the b and w look that MYH achieves with her CSMC. I won't bother you guys again with my back and forth, but thank you all again for so much support, you get it!:hbeat:

Yep! This is perfect!

I'm back with a crowd pleaser today. Since Chinese New Year just passed and it's Opera season at the moment, I thought I would showcase Turandot. I'm sorry or not sorry, definitely one of those options, for the B&W scarf hunt I sent some of you on. But you will thank me in the end! But this one, ack!, is not so easy to find. My hunt was a nerve-wracking one that had a happy ending but I'm not sure if I would have done it all again.

I'm not sure where and when I became obsessed with this scarf. My scarf collecting has lasted a couple of years now and some of it is just a blur. I think I block some of it out because it's kind of crazy how many scarves I own. And to make a little confession....I broke down and just bought a CSGM from H.com that is being delivered Monday. Oy! I wasn't supposed to buy anymore CSGMs, but there you go. Anyway, back to the story, I knew I needed this one. So the online reseller search began in earnest several years back. One day, I see it pop up on evilbay for $425 BIN. Hmmm...was it real? Could I trust the seller? Seriously you guys, her other listings were for cheap toys and car parts (or something like that). No other Hermes items. Nothing in the price range of this scarf. No Hermes stuff in her selling history. And her story in the description was that is was a gift. We've all heard that one before right? The problem is I can never tell if it's true or not. So I watched it and checked on it over a couple of days and it was still sitting there. Was there a reason it was still available after a couple of days? I studied every inch of this scarf using the magnification feature on evilbay and it seemed to check out ok in my eyes. So I decided to take the plunge. I figured I could always open a case if it turned out to be fake. So I bought it and waited...and waited..and waited...she was in the U.S. and it should have taken a couple of days to arrive. I think I must have waited 2 weeks. By the beginning of week 2, I was convinced I had been scammed. Perhaps she never had the scarf. I figured she found some pics online, posted those, and just took my money and intended on sending me nothing! I contacted her and asked about it's whereabouts. She didn't have a tracking number. She told me she sent it and that I should be patient. It will arrive soon. Seriously?!?! No tracking number? Be patient? I was beside myself. And just when I was about to open a case....it arrived. I couldn't believe it. I opened up the package and it was magnificent. It was authentic and in mint (perhaps never used) condition. I was so relieved. I cried tears of joy (I think)! Now if I had to do this all over again, I'm not sure I would. I literally couldn't think about anything else for a whole week while I waited for this scarf to arrive. So I took a chance with a iffy listing and ended up scoring.

Now for the story of Turandot...this princess is really a character. I think TangoTosca probably went over the storyline before in her thread but in a nutshell (from Wikipedia), it is set in China and involves Prince Calaf, who falls in love with the cold Princess Turandot. To obtain permission to marry her, a suitor has to solve three riddles; any wrong answer results in death. Calaf passes the test, but Turandot still refuses to marry him. Poor guy...gotta feel sorry for him. Perhaps not the best story before Valentine's Day. :lolots:

I adore the details in this scarf. The little fish, the peonies. Peonies are my favorite flowers. The color is quite hard to capture but I tried my best. The tough thing about this scarf is the blue. It's tough to find a top that goes with the blues in this scarf. I should make a note to myself to go and buy some nice white T-shirts. I'm not sure why I don't have any? As much as I love this scarf, it does have a downside. The big navy border. I'm not a fan of big borders because much of the design in the middle doesn't show when tying a cowboy knot. But I'm willing to overlook this small flaw for this scarf.

So here she is, one of my most prized possessions....Turandot.

Pirula I totally agree. Maybe Bova will end up with both scarves. Though of course nothing like that has ever happened to us before. [emoji23]

Hi Pirula! No, not yet! It does help that I have seen almost zero new designs in the 140cms beside Sieste au Paradis (but I got a 90cm last season) and was not tempted by any of the colorways. I'm still waiting to see 140cm giant silks. I think I am going to rest on new 90cm and 70cms. But I am interested in some new design twillies so am eagerly waiting for those too.

Perfume girl01 - so glad to see you here! Yes, a 10 motif VCA is a great classic to have in your jewelry box. Now I am curious...maybe we did see each other in KOP. But you know, I was always euphoric and lightheaded whenever I stepped foot in there and hardly paid attention to anyone around me. I was totally focused on silks and leathers whenever I would go.

Oh dear...they are hard to find. Be patient and I hope one finds its way to you. Thank you for commenting and saying you like my stories. Sometimes I feel like I am boring everyone!

I totally understand. My best memories of that store are going to pick out new scarves for my grandmother and we had laser like focus. In fact Richard Simmons walked by (he picked out several silks for himself) and I barely recognized him. At that time he wore spandex into Hermes! Anyway I am going to put that 10 motif on my wish list for DH and hope to see it later in the year.

This is definitely a great one. Perfumegirl just recently got a new to her one as well. You're inspiring people left and right my dear!

I just had this very same B&W being the answer to the sartorial riddle of the Sphinx situation this morning in fact. I had an outfit all planned for today. Then what happens? thegriswolds gives me this exquisite amethyst velvet jacket for my be-lated (snow) birthday present!! It's gorgeous! And so I'm like "hmmmm". Didn't feel like Offrandes, too easy (it's purple too), so thought Phoenix! Perfect! especially with those tiny little, divine touches of aubergine. It's not exactly B&W I suppose, but it reads as B&W and that's just as good. Sometimes, I think I need a W&B. :graucho: It never ends.......

Hello my dear! Not this one but I have a confession to make. I did buy another 70 that now makes me twin with myh - rose de compas! My Minuit order got canceled [emoji45] and I went online to reorder it but it had sold out (probably the reason why they canceled it) and I saw the green RDC. I remember seeing it when it first came out and liking that cw a lot but I had just so many others on my list. I hadn't seen the RDC online in a while so when it popped up I thought WTH and grabbed it. That said, I will probably still hunt for Minuit in the boutiques at some point.

And of course MetM,which both Myh and MaiTai have. I actually got it from a Japanese reseller and it came in perfect condition for a very fair price. The funny thing is, their website was primarily in Japanese (which I know nothing of) and I just guessed when entering my info and submitted my order with fingers crossed. It miraculously arrived a few days later. Crazy.

Oh what a shame about Minuit!!! [emoji22]. I do so hope you find it in the boutiques.

Congrats on the Rose Compass, it's lovely!

I liked them both but I do think this is better. You are never ever a bother. I think it helps us all to have someone to bounce thing off even if in the end we must decide which makes us happiest. I know that since all of my girlfriends are scattered across the country, none are Hermes fans and DH just rolls his eyes, I really appreciate having this lovely group to bounce things off. If it makes you feel better I could only decide on two twillies and a bandana the other day and I had to send one of the twillies back. You have to try these things in your own environment away from the glitz of the store.

Thank you pocketbookpup, +1 on not having any friends that share this H obsession. I do have my sister who also collects H scarves, although she does not live close by, but at least we can talk and commiserate. So yes, this forum is a wonderful way to meet and share with like-minded folks :happydance:

Ahem. First of all, I take exception to PbP's statement that NONE of her girlfriends share her H obsession. What am I? Chopped liver? We've met! We've broken bread! We're girlfriends! Humph! You may begin making it up to me now. [emoji18]

Also, I am so very lucky to have my BFF thegriswolds share my H love. But even so, it just wouldn't be the same without my lovely, passionate forum friends too. [emoji179]

My dear, of course we are friends. But you too are well...1/4 way across the country and I include you with my tpf silky friends although a very very special one. And you are my fashion and scarf guru. So you are in a league of your own of special friends. [emoji8]
