Want to hear something hysterical?!?! Like pee your pants funny? When I first discovered Hermes scarves, I thought I was going to just have a "capsule" collection. I actually thought I would be content with just 3 scarves. My first was a pink/coral/red Geometrie Cretoise (which was not right for me so got rehomed eventually), a blue/gray/teal Echec au Roi (still have this one and love it), and just one more. A B&W one. I thought with all 3 of these choices and my color families pretty well covered, I would be done! And wouldn't need anymore.:lolots::rofl::lolots:

So I went to the boutique in search of my B&W scarf one day to "complete" my collection. I marched up to the scarf counter and asked to see only B&W scarves. The SA helping me said they only have one at the moment. It's A Cheval Sur Mon Carre. OK, I thought. Let's have a look. So I'm not really a horse person (I'll put that out there right up front) although I think they are beautiful and appreciate them as animals. I just don't ride (except on easy trails while on vacation) and have never owned a horse before. So when a horse scarf is unfurled in front of me, I usually feel a bit meh about it. But this one fit the bill! B&W and I thought it was clever how all the scarves in the design formed the horse. It was modernish and so I said, great, I'll take it.

Now, looking backwards, I now know I was a bit bonkers for thinking I only needed 3 scarves but I still "kind of " stand by my thinking. I do believe everyone needs a B&W scarf in their collection. It's a great go-to scarf if you don't know what to wear that day or don't have anything in your scarf collection that matches your outfit. Got a weird green color top that goes with nothing else in your scarf drawer? Pull out the B&W scarf. A strange mustard color top? Pull on a pair of black pants and reach for that B&W scarf in your collection. So this is what I used this scarf for in the early days of collecting. When I didn't have 50-ish scarves :sweat drop:, I used this one kind of as a "filler" and still do. I must admit, back then my scarf taste was not as refined as it is now and I don't love this scarf design as much as I do many others, but I'm unwilling to release it because it was the special Philadelphia edition and I keep it as a momento of the time I lived there. Plus, it still comes in handy. Last year for Halloween, I was a cowgirl and used this scarf as my bandanna for my costume. Sorry - no humiliating pictures were taken so I cannot share with you guys.

So I took some pics this morning of this scarf and some H bracelets (clic H and illusion) I own as well as a new non-H bracelet in my collection. A balenciaga le dix bracelet with marble details in the leather as well as two-toned hardware. It's so useful and I fell in love with it immediately. I got it at Barneys and also saw a white/grayish one that looked like carrera marble. I ADORE carrera marble but when I tried it on, the lighter color carrera did not love me back so I nabbed this black one with white veining.

I hope you all don't mind I also photographed my fendi clutch with the whole scarf. I don't own a black Hermes clutch yet. :graucho::graucho::grouch: but am working very hard to rectify that problem.

Have a great weekend everyone!

[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]3 scarves [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Ok now that I'm finished laughing... I love this in black and white. I have never seen it in this color way before. It's a beautiful scarf. And lucky you to have a Philadelphia scarf.

This is definitely a great one. Perfumegirl just recently got a new to her one as well. You're inspiring people left and right my dear!

I just had this very same B&W being the answer to the sartorial riddle of the Sphinx situation this morning in fact. I had an outfit all planned for today. Then what happens? thegriswolds gives me this exquisite amethyst velvet jacket for my be-lated (snow) birthday present!! It's gorgeous! And so I'm like "hmmmm". Didn't feel like Offrandes, too easy (it's purple too), so thought Phoenix! Perfect! especially with those tiny little, divine touches of aubergine. It's not exactly B&W I suppose, but it reads as B&W and that's just as good. Sometimes, I think I need a W&B. :graucho: It never ends.......

Well goodness gracious! By sheer will, we got you to come back! My heart skipped a beat when I saw you had responded on this thread Melora! How have you been? Well, I hope. Not wearing your scarves, what on earth is wrong darling? Just kidding. We totally understand that different passions can come into your life. So happy you stopped by. Hope you hang around the Hermes forum for awhile!

Wonderful mod shot! Twins!

I know, it's crazy, right?
I'm doing great, thank you! Still living in a very very casual part of California, which is why I don't wear my scarves. Still traveling through California every once in a while too!

Your B&W scarf is gorgeous. Now I think I could use one... (bday in a few months... I should think about it!)

Oh how I love reading this thread MYH, this is such an insightful story! 3 scarves...:lolots:
I actually never had any B&W scarves in my collection, but then recently purchased the B&W L'ombre des boulevards CSGM. You may or may not have noticed my annoying hemming and hawing over whether to keep or not on the Fall thread. B&W was way out of my usual comfort zone of very bright/statement type scarves, usually containing some grounding in black. Now that I have decided to keep it, it truly functions just as you say...a great option with so many different outfits and colors, nice to have a neutral. Well now, in no small part thanks to you, I will be on the lookout for a perfect B&W 90cm to add to my collection (which by the way started with only 3 scarves beginning about 25 years ago, stayed that way until... a couple of years ago I joined tPF and lo and behold my collection is now over 35 just in the 90cm format!!! This is a very dangerous place indeed!!:faint:)

I laughed so much reading about the 3 scarves collection because I can so totally identify with it! When I got into H that was my first thought... Get a couple of their shawls for variety and then get out. Oh little did I know what I was getting into the first day I walked into the H store...I believe in my head I never really came out of that store again [emoji23][emoji23]...
I agree that every collection needs a B&W scarf in it. For me that void is filled by my B&W Tyger Tyger. That happens to be my most versatile shawl that I can throw on with anything and everything! You nailed it with your astute observations about these B&W scarves dear MYH! Tyger Tyger reminds me of another thing that I would never do before and that was ever wear shawls/scarves with a animals on them! I used to find it unthinkable and couldn't imagine how people found it amazing! Another lesson learnt! The first time I tried the TT shawl in the store ( I have to admit with a lot of convincing from my SA) I loved how it tied and how you couldn't even see the tiger in it! And now I am a convert and a follower of animal designs on H scarves to the extent that the Marwari with the horse in it is my HG [emoji3][emoji3]!!! One thing I have learnt with H is 'never say never'...but that's what makes it so exciting not knowing what is the next thing you will love from them[emoji6]... I love your B&W choice and I think it looks just phenomenal tied! ... Love the match with the fendi clutch and can't wait to see which H black clutch you get in the future [emoji4]... Once again your collection of matching bracelets are beyond par [emoji7][emoji7][emoji7][emoji7]... Love your thread dear MYH[emoji173]️

And don't forget your exquisite Panthera!

It is awe inspiring my dear! The detail is unreal. I readily admit to sometimes pulling it out of its box just to look and admire it. [emoji4]

Right Pirula? Thank god I am not the only one! I just do the same thing! I keep admiring it too! And to think I thought I would never do animal designs :shaking my head:

Myh! I heard about your post on sotd and thought I'd hunt it down. We are twinses! And I saw that you got the special edition from Philly. Me too! I visit that store from time to time because my family is still in the area. All the SAs are so lovely. I wonder if we ever ran into each other without realizing it. Love your 10 motif VCA with it. I've been hinting at that for the longest time with DH and may just have to show him how well it goes with the scarf.

Just discovered this thread. Love the stories and pictures. A Cheval sur mon carre is a HG. Reading this makes me want to go search for one right away.
