:wtf: OMG. Well, I suppose if it can survive velcro unscathed...........

Yeah, not my finest moment lol. It just didn't occur to me to be careful about the velcro. I almost had a heart attack when it happened. It was just a little area though and I carefully pulled it off and it was fine! No fuzziness even. :sweatdrop:

Dear silkies,

I'm sorry I abruptly stopped posting for awhile and life on this thread had slowed down to just above a pulse. Life got busy and I got wrapped up pursuing some other hobbies. But I have been thinking about all of you and feeling extremely guilty too. :shucks: So for the past few days, I have been plotting my return. And I knew I had to make it a good one so I hope this post qualifies.

Today, I am showcasing two scarves together instead of just one! So here's my tale of two scarves. It's a long one so if you don't want to read through the whole story, feel free to skip to the photos. As a longtime piano player, I have always wanted a piano themed scarf in my collection. I almost pulled the trigger on organophone several times but in the end, I didn't like the gold horns in the corners. Point d'orgue was also a contender but at the time I was looking, I told myself no more 90cms because I had way too many of them. At around the same time, DH and I also found out we would be returning to the west coast and living in sunny LA so I started to become more interested in mousselines. Living in the northeast for many years, I wasn't sure how mousselines fit into my collection, but now with the news we were moving to LA, all I could imagine was me wearing floaty ethereal moussies looking gorgeous while walking on the beach in Malibu. Full disclosure...in actuality, that has yet to happen. :lolots: And as luck would have it, at about the same time, there was a lovely TPF member named Melora, who started a marvelous thread about all the details in Point d'Orgue. She is an organ player herself and knew the ins and outs of every detail of the 90cm along with any inaccuracies the scarf had (she said there were only a few). If you've never read it, here's the thread. It's a must read. Seriously. http://forum.purseblog.com/hermes/ode-to-point-d-orgue-883505.html She had us all captivated for weeks and would come back every couple of days and give us more information and real life comparisons of actual organ parts vs. the art in her Point d'Orgue scarf. I was whipped up in a tizzy and decided, maybe I should forego my no 90cm rule and just get the purple cw. Then the planets must have aligned because in the new season...(can't remember which one now) scarf thread, it was announced Point d'Orgue would be reissued in a 140cm mousseline. Oh we all rejoiced! I rejoiced! Melora rejoiced! We all started seeking every bit of data we could find about the cws this scarf would be produced in.

In the new season scarf thread, the posts, reveals, and mod shots started to roll in. Then one day, I saw it! The one that had to be mine. It had a light grey background and had lots of bright colors like emerald, red, orange, yellow, pink, all the colors of the rainbow practically between Red-Green that would be perfect for me. I wanted a bright moussie and already had lots of accessories to go with it. Finally, my decision was made. So I started to look for it online, in stores, everywhere. It was nowhere to be found. I finally convinced a SA in the BH boutique to do a nationwide search for me and she said there were a total of ZERO in the US. Huh? How could this be? So for months I searched and was losing hope when one day, I walked into BH and saw it sitting under the glass case. Upon closer inspection, it was kind of limp and crumpled but I decided to live with it being the "display" one because I had finally found it. The SA I was working with checked the drawers, but that was the only one. So I said, that's ok. Wrap it up. I will adopt it. As soon as I got home, I spread it out on my bed and saw a *gasp* *horror* 6 inch snag! 6 inches. Really? Could I be so unlucky? I debated for days about whether or not I should keep it and decided I could not tolerate such a big snag. So with a heavy heart, I took it back to BH and the SA there said "Are you sure you want to return it? It's a unicorn and you may never find it again?" But I'm a bit of a perfectionist and knew I could not live with it. So I took a store credit and was on my way.

For the next few months, I could not stop thinking about that mousseline and one day while I was in Vegas, I broke down and decided that cw was never going to be mine so I better find another cw I like as well. My second choice was the blue one with orange and blue izmir-ish highlights. Luckily the Crystals boutique had it so I bought it and was 90% happy with my purchase. At least I found one right? But in the back of my mind, I still felt sad about the one that got away in the cw that was my first choice.

Fast forward two months later, I walk into the BH boutique looking for something else when on a whim, I ask the SA to open the 140cm mousseline drawer. There it was!!!! the cw I wanted all along. Still sleeping in its plastic sleeve and looking pristine. I excitedly asked her to pull it out and quickly inspected it for snags (learned that lesson once already) and saw that it had probably never been tried on and looked perfect. I slipped it over my head and fell in love all over again. But now, I had a dilemma. I already had the blue one and should I really be buying two moussies of the same design? We were remodeling our new house at the time and I was feeling really guilty about spending $1K a piece on scarves. Well, I thought about it for like 2 min. and decided I could not leave it at the boutique. It would haunt me forever so...you know the rest.

So thats my tale and from this experience I learned a few lessons.
#1 - inspect all scarves at the boutique before you bring them home. I'm always reluctant to do this because it makes me look like a freaky obsessive compulsive person but if the scarf was a display one and looks "tried on", do take the time to do this. Especially for CSGMs!
#2 - don't give in to the "it's the last one and you may never find it again" story some SAs will tell you. I think there are multiple rounds of production of a scarf during a season and there's a good chance, that cw will pop up again even if none can be found at the moment
#3 - always ask to look in the drawers for scarves you are looking for. I wasn't even looking for mousselines on the visit I found the cw I wanted, but am so very glad I asked to take a peep.

So now I have two Point d'Orgue moussies and depending on my mood, will actually toggle between them as favorites. I thought the grey coral/red one was my favorite until I wrote this post and took the photos, but then as I put on the blue one, I thought it was more striking than the other one. Go figure! I love them both. Out of curiosity though, which cw do you like better?

And for your viewing pleasure, I took some pics of the two scarves, and the bags I like to carry with them, and a bunch of my bracelets that coordinate with both of the scarves on my piano to showcase the keys in the scarves. My piano is a refurbished oldie from the 1930's with real ivory keys. To me, the sound this baby grand makes sounds like heaven. I marvel each time I sit down and play at how rich it sounds being only a baby grand.

I swear, each time I tie this scarf, a different part of the design shows and it looks different but good!

Thanks for being so patient with me and for reading the whole story (are you still there?) and for waiting so patiently for me to revive this thread again. :hugs:

So glad you are back MYH! I couldn't possibly choose which color I prefer...they are both gorgeous, and you are totally enabling me on finally getting my first mousseline. Aside from durability, which is already being discussed, how would you describe the mousseline's tying ability? For example, does it slide around a bit like the 140cm giant silk, or does it stay put the way a CSGM does? I know I am finding your advice on tying 140 silks so very helpful, so just wondering if you employ similar techniques when tying these mousselines. :thinkin:

I would like to hear too please as I .....:shame:...........bought my first moussie. :happydance: A big shout out to dear Bedhead for finding the PERFECT one, at an excellent price from a very reputable vendor. I slept on it and well, Chevaux de Karnak is on its way.

Ladies they are slippery suckers! Yes, to tame the moussie, I also use all of the same strategic knots like I do with the 140cm giant sills. So for instance in my last mod pic of point d'orgue in blue, use a knot behind your neck or a small scarf ring or that scarf will unravel in a flash.

Pirula - I can't wait to see your new to you Karnak!

As I'm randomly browsing the forum, I come across this, and wow! First of all, thanks for your compliments on my post.
And you're such a lucky gal with not one, but two Point d'orgue mousselines!!!
Obviously, I like the blue better (I have the same), but I have to admit the other one is stunning too :)

Oh, thank you so much MYH, very good to know!

By the way, if you can't decide which mousse to wear today, just go with both ;)

Hi momasaurus and bostonjet!
I've just spent more time with other addictions (pandora-like bracelets and nailpolish), and over-all less time on forums. I haven't been wearing my scarves much in the past year either.

Welcome back and WHAT A GREAT STORY!!
I am partial to the blue but they are both so beautiful, I can see why you made room for both in your collection!

I remember Melora's [where has she been btw?!?!] post on this scarf and was amazed at how many details she was able to share. It really made me appreciate the design more than I originally had. Perfect scarf for a pianist such as yourself!
BJS - thanks for stopping by! Thanks for the nice compliments. And guess what, Merlora's ears must have been burning because she came back!

I've given up shopping for Lent before! It was difficult but doable. I'm thinking of doing it again this year. I managed to make it all of January without buying any Hermes aside from a bottle of perfume, so that's a start!

I'm interested in knowing how the mousselines hold up as well. I am very interested in this format for warmer weather but I'd like to know how durable they are. My McQueen scarves of a similar weight and material seem to be pretty sturdy, so I'm hoping the moussies will be the same.
Bedhead - don't be afraid to dive into the mousseline pool. They wear very well.

Also, I have one older moussie, and it is stiffer and maybe slightly thicker than the current moussies.
I also think my moussie stoles may be lighter, but maybe that is just because there is less material.

I agree, maybe slightly less sturdy than silk twill, but definitely tougher than the CSGM.
I agree with Scarf1 - I do have an older one - Le Monde est Vaste and it is noticeably thicker and a bit hardier. But the new ones are still lovely.

Pirula, I don't think mousselines are fragile at all. Indeed, they're sturdier and far less prone to flaws than CSGMs. Only issue, as TT has noted, is they don't fold as well. I prefer the GM mousselines, as there's more to play with than the 90s. But that's a matter of personal preference.
Do you have 90cm moussies Werner? We would love to see them! I only have the 140cms and I do love them.

Very impressive collection...thanks for sharing!!~~
You're welcome! Thanks for stopping by.

Dear MYH I loved the story behind the two moussies. I recently bought my first moussie after much deliberation since I live on the east coast where it's pretty cold most of the year so for me a shawl is a better investment than a Moussie... Or so I thought till I got my first Moussie and now I am so hooked!!! They are so light weight and easy to drape and the transformation is just unbelievable to any outfit! And the I love the lessons you listed out! Every one of them are point on, practical and useable! So thank you for taking the time to write this and sharing with us especially people like me who are just starting out and are trying to learn from the experience of our seasoned TPF members. Loved the different ways you showed to wear the moussies too and now I am going to try them all.... This is one design that I am so happy you got both the CW of...the one you were looking for plus a beautiful bonus one. God knows I feel the guilt too when I buy two CWs of the same design but I always realize that if you love a design enough then why not? As simple as that! Beautiful pairings with your Picotin too!! After seeing the enabling pictures of your Picotin and some of the other wonderful TPFers I am tempted to take the plunge too [emoji6][emoji6]... I just love your sense of style and the beautiful pieces you have collected! The bracelets are just divine and everything is perfectly matched [emoji173]️[emoji173]️... For a person like me who loves and thrives on everything to match [emoji3][emoji3]... These pictures make perfect sense and I am in awe! Please keep on posting and inspiring us...[emoji173]️[emoji173]️
You are the sweetest! Yes, take the plunge on the Pico. It's price is nice, it's carefree and casual, and doesn't attract alot of attention. But I will say I do get compliments on my Picos from people that have no idea about Hermes just because they recognize that it's a well-made bag and supercute. What color are you thinking of?
And you have always been an inspiration for many of us here too. Your mod shots are always so beautiful and we all love your matchy-matchy bracelets and shawls too.

I loved reading your story, MYH! And, like BostonJetSet, I miss Melora! Anyway, both CWs are beautiful and you have so many gorgeous accessories for any color scheme! :girlsigh:
Thanks momasaurus! I'm happy you liked the story. I'm always afraid I am boring everyone and people are practically asleep by the time I reach the end.

As I'm randomly browsing the forum, I come across this, and wow! First of all, thanks for your compliments on my post.
And you're such a lucky gal with not one, but two Point d'orgue mousselines!!!

Well goodness gracious! By sheer will, we got you to come back! My heart skipped a beat when I saw you had responded on this thread Melora! How have you been? Well, I hope. Not wearing your scarves, what on earth is wrong darling? Just kidding. We totally understand that different passions can come into your life. So happy you stopped by. Hope you hang around the Hermes forum for awhile!

By the way, if you can't decide which mousse to wear today, just go with both ;)

Wonderful mod shot! Twins!

Welcome back MYH! Whew! Finally finished reading this thread and I LOVE all your stories and everyone's styling pictures. Congratulations on your beloved treasures from Vegas! Love how your hubby says get both beauties when you were trying to dislike that malachite kelly :roflmfao:. Also love your tale of the two moussies. Fabulous thread. Can't wait to read more stories this year and maybe a mousseline of my own. ;)

Thank you so much dear MYH for being so sweet and kind :hugs: I am learning from the best here so it definitely helps shape my style [emoji4]... Will definitely grab the pico if it comes in bright colors like anemone, green bamboo, BE etc. I love the look of it so am not surprised you get compliments on your beautiful picotins and plus it helps knowing how well you style and accessorize your outfits and bags[emoji7][emoji7]

Want to hear something hysterical?!?! Like pee your pants funny? When I first discovered Hermes scarves, I thought I was going to just have a "capsule" collection. I actually thought I would be content with just 3 scarves. My first was a pink/coral/red Geometrie Cretoise (which was not right for me so got rehomed eventually), a blue/gray/teal Echec au Roi (still have this one and love it), and just one more. A B&W one. I thought with all 3 of these choices and my color families pretty well covered, I would be done! And wouldn't need anymore.:lolots::rofl::lolots:

So I went to the boutique in search of my B&W scarf one day to "complete" my collection. I marched up to the scarf counter and asked to see only B&W scarves. The SA helping me said they only have one at the moment. It's A Cheval Sur Mon Carre. OK, I thought. Let's have a look. So I'm not really a horse person (I'll put that out there right up front) although I think they are beautiful and appreciate them as animals. I just don't ride (except on easy trails while on vacation) and have never owned a horse before. So when a horse scarf is unfurled in front of me, I usually feel a bit meh about it. But this one fit the bill! B&W and I thought it was clever how all the scarves in the design formed the horse. It was modernish and so I said, great, I'll take it.

Now, looking backwards, I now know I was a bit bonkers for thinking I only needed 3 scarves but I still "kind of " stand by my thinking. I do believe everyone needs a B&W scarf in their collection. It's a great go-to scarf if you don't know what to wear that day or don't have anything in your scarf collection that matches your outfit. Got a weird green color top that goes with nothing else in your scarf drawer? Pull out the B&W scarf. A strange mustard color top? Pull on a pair of black pants and reach for that B&W scarf in your collection. So this is what I used this scarf for in the early days of collecting. When I didn't have 50-ish scarves :sweat drop:, I used this one kind of as a "filler" and still do. I must admit, back then my scarf taste was not as refined as it is now and I don't love this scarf design as much as I do many others, but I'm unwilling to release it because it was the special Philadelphia edition and I keep it as a momento of the time I lived there. Plus, it still comes in handy. Last year for Halloween, I was a cowgirl and used this scarf as my bandanna for my costume. Sorry - no humiliating pictures were taken so I cannot share with you guys.

So I took some pics this morning of this scarf and some H bracelets (clic H and illusion) I own as well as a new non-H bracelet in my collection. A balenciaga le dix bracelet with marble details in the leather as well as two-toned hardware. It's so useful and I fell in love with it immediately. I got it at Barneys and also saw a white/grayish one that looked like carrera marble. I ADORE carrera marble but when I tried it on, the lighter color carrera did not love me back so I nabbed this black one with white veining.

I hope you all don't mind I also photographed my fendi clutch with the whole scarf. I don't own a black Hermes clutch yet. :graucho::graucho::grouch: but am working very hard to rectify that problem.

Have a great weekend everyone!
