MYH I do love burgundy and capucine together , in fact I love orange tones with almost any colour and your MAaxi Twilly has a glorious colour palette.
Just look at your accessory s, all TDF and if I'm going to go down that route anytime it will be as a result of seeing that sleek Illusion bracelet .Love it.

I 'm a new convert to Maxi Twillies, and I'm surprised you find it dressy, whereas I find it loosens up a look and makes it more casual .
I often wear mine with a low t shirt under a close fitting little jacket and pretend I'm Kate Moss ,
Which is to say I think it's a youthful insouciant look .

Anyway it looks such in all your photos , a really great look.

Yes, frou frou - I can totally imagine it with a t-shirt and little jacket. Very kate moss! You are absolutely correct. It's just that I don't wear those things. During the day, I'm more of a nice t-shirt (Vince usually) and linen pants type of gal because I live in LA . And all the glorious silk fabric just doesn't jive with that outfit. Also, I think I used to dress differently on the east coast vs. west coast. I used to wear blazers and skirts/pants, but those days are over here. Especially since I don't hobnob with the corporate folks anymore.

Would you mind posting a pic of how you wear your Maxi Twilly with the outfit you described when you have a chance?

MYH Any excuse to play with my scarves , I'll get it together and post tomorrow .
Yes, nature of one's work and location have to determine how to dress so I can imagine the lovely linens will look elegant and not overdone where you are .

Raise your hand if you bought a maxi twilly and don't wear it as often as you should. I must confess, my hand is in the air.

When these MTs first launched, I was at the peak of my silk obsession. I was venturing into all different sizes and could not get enough of Hermes silks. I still think having many different formats in a collection is a great thing. Even in the same material, a different size gives the scarf a different vibe. Having this versatility when choosing a scarf from your drawer is priceless! So when my SA and purse forum started buzzing about the new maxi twillies, I could not wait to see them. It didn't matter that they didn't have a rolled hem or were not screened in the same way the regular 90cms are. I liked the idea of a long rectangle scarf with diagonal cut tails. How glamorous! How elegant!

So the first day they launched, I flew to the H boutique to claim my 2 MTs (yes, when they launched, each customer was limited to 2 per season). I bought the burgundy and black calvacadour. I didn't buy any Brazils because I was not crazy about the feathers.

I could not wait to go home and play with my new treasures! There really is alot you can do with a maxi twilly. It can go around your neck once, twice, three times, even four if you are frou frou or bunny cat. Sadly, I did not like the look of the MT around my waist. It's not as um...trim...as it once was and I don't really like drawing too much attention to that area of my body. But I have seen some fab pics of women wearing them this way.

I was hoping it could be worn casually during the summer because of the rectangular shape having less material but here's where I get confused. No matter which way I tie it, I just don't feel it has a casual vibe. It's more of a going out for dinner accessory. And it's a great one because it's not voluminous and you don't have to worry about dribbling or splashing food all over it. It lays pretty flat against the body and that's a big pro to the MT.

As for providing warmth - unless you triple loop it around your neck, I don't feel like it's great on a cold day. I'd rather wear a CSGM or 140giant silk when I need warmth.

I do love it with a mors ring though because it is not bulky when you slip it through the ring. In my pic I folded the maxi twilly so the width is only one quarter of its regular width. I just threaded both tails through the smaller loop and let them hang. The whole thing stays put! The volume of the MT is just right for a mors ring.

It is a slippery sucker and if you want to wear it looped once around your neck with the tails hanging down, using a knot in the back of your neck or a scarf ring will do the trick. All the little tricks I mentioned in the 140cm tutorials applies here as well with the MT. If you missed the 140 tutorial, scroll back to Post #315 Page 21.

As you can see, I do really like the MT and I think it is very versatile. I just need to remember to reach for it when I'm getting dressed. And it has the added bonus of matching my burgundy chanel clutch which I love. I took a pic with some accessories. My capucine illusion bracelet and a blue izmir bracelet. For some reason, I do love the burgundy and capucine colors together especially since there is a capucine ribbon in the scarf. But I know...they don't match at all but I call it power clashing!

This is so lovely! I have not jumped on to the MT bandwagon yet but I recently tried one on at the boutique and fell in love. They are so versatile and I love how they are not so voluminous [for those days when one does not want to be voluminous!].

I always viewed MT as a more casual look. I pictured wearing it with a t-shirt and jeans...perhaps with an oversized cardigan on top....just looped once around the neck and hanging down below the cardigan. Of course it can be made dressy as well....especially when tied in the bow that is featured on the knotting cards. I love it worn as an "obi" on a lot of women but alas that would not work for me personally haha. I think the colorway and pattern of an MT may be more important in determining its casual vs. formal vibe as well.

One thing you mentioned that I was not aware of though, is the screening process. How does it differ on an MT compared to other H silks [standard silks...not surtient or jersey or specialty ones]? I thought the process used by H was pretty much the same on their scarves with the exception of the special formats.

Love your maxi twilly looks MYH. I have three and like them mostly as belts but sometimes as scarves too. I have to think of mine more often. The illusion bracelet is pretty. You have so many cool bracelets to match your scarves.

I love your legend Mars and frou frou's. I find that I fall in love with scarves I see posted so often that I must set limits. So I try not to pounce. If I find myself coming back to the same design multiple times over several months I know it's a winner for me. That has been the case with several of your scarves that I have now acquired.

Thanks for yer another wonderful post.

Oh, you are done for, dear Pup. These are the most amazing of all, IMHO. I can't get enough of them...they just fly around one's shoulders and necks ethereally. Enjoy the journey:)

Thank you! I love larger formats and this is so soft and cozy and yet elegant looking. And less high maintenance than the cashmeres. What more could one want? I gather there are limited releases of dip dyes? I bought a red. A blue would be heavenly as well. I think I was done for the moment I walked through the H doors the first time.

MYHHere's a way I wear my only Maxitwilly for a casual day out locally , I'll probably go out like this later when I'm planning a trip to H to see the new scarves.
I wanted to show I'm wearing Stan Smiths but I can't get a good long view . Sometimes it'll be a pair of ankle boots , but anyway this my usual look about town .
I'm mixing navy striped jacket with a black T and red and black Zebra Pegasus MT , I like a mixing navy and black and mismatching seems more modern sometimes.
If I put the black jacket and trousers it looks smarter but then I'd tone it down with Stan Smiths .

Frou frou this is fantastic and very stylish. I'm a Converse girl myself, so I totally get the Stan Smiths thing. I too love to mix navy and black (just did it yesterday in fact), and fully agree that mixing (including metals) is much more modern. I wish I could dress like this everyday, but I am not in a business casual office. So for now, this is a weekend look for me.

Great post as usual MYH!

I too, adore that bracelet. Style and color.

What a fantastic and unusual combination of colors this is. It really works, and I adore it. If I am being completely honest however, and this is a discussion afterall, I have to admit that I don't care for the maxi twillys in general. Dearest Pocketbook Pup has been trying to persuade me, but I don't see it. I tried one once, and I just didn't like it. Back it went. It's fine as a belt, sure. But I can belt 90s just as well on the rare occasions I want to wear a scarf as a belt. Maybe if I used that look more....but I don't. I played with it as a band on a summer hat, and that was fun, but again not something I would do often enough to justify having the scarf. I didn't like it tied around my neck in any manner, way, shape or form. I tried everything. Unlike the rest of you, instead of feeling like it was less fabric, I felt like it was too wide, too long and too much. And I'm tall, so it's not that. Funny. I have to admit that I didn't think to try it with my mors ring, and I rather love this look on you!

In view of Frou Frou's conversion, PbP's advice and now your tutelage, I will open my mind and heart to at least trying an MT again someday if I ever see one in a pattern and cw that I absolutely adore. There. That's fair! :flowers:

Frou frou, thank you! Some excellent tips here. I love your style.

There's a blue Tigre Royal...often seen on H.com...My avatar has the fuchsia version.
Take a look...Happy to enable

MYH I managed to take some better photos of my new Sous l'Egide de Mars 90cm
As you know it was one I'd decided to get if I found a good deal , being a lot more ornate and glamorous than I usually like to wear especially in the colour way I chose .
Very happy to say it's a great addition and I'd encourage anyone to go for it , it ties so well I think .
We're twins from Mars!
Gorgeous!
