Hello again!! Today has been way less stressful than yesterday so I'm only a 1/2 glass of wine into my evening. I reviewed the scarves in my drawer today and discovered I forgot to include the blue/orange 140cm samurai csgm shawl on my list for this year. Whoops . Well, nevermind. I'll talk about Robe du Soir tonight because it's so beautiful! As soon as I saw the preview pics I knew I would not be able to resist it although I was supposed to be on a 90cm ban. The shading of the ropes in this design remind me of Coup de Fouet and that's actually a fave of mine. I decided I had to limit myself to just one colorway and slowly waited for them to trickle into the store. The first cw that captured my attention was one in an advertisement. And then one of my friends bought that same cw and I thought I was sunk. I loved it. But strangely, when I tried it on at the boutique, I didn't feel "the moment" you should feel when a scarf is for you. I was stumped. I think it was just a bit too colorful for me. Beautiful to look at, but not great around my neck. But ok, no worries. There were still more candidates to consider.

The next cw that caught my attention was the navy blue one. This one "on paper" ticked all my boxes. Navy blue, black and some white/grey are my jam! But when I tied this one on, I got a somber vibe from it and just wasn't feeling it either. I think it was just a little formal/dressy for me and didn't really brighten my face. I have black hair and it was just all a bit too much black concentrated around my neck and face. Ugh....the search continued.
View attachment 4217715
But wait...there was a similar cw in the case that was just a bit brighter. It still had navy blue (my fave) but had light blue and more white and grey. I think this was THE ONE! In stock photos on the website, the main color that came across was silver but IRL, the navy blue and light blue really stand out. Ding, ding, ding!! This was the one...

My pics of me wearing this cw are not great. I moved and have still not figured out where to stand in my new place for the best lighting so I apologize for the following pics. I'm still up to the same old knot tricks lol. Necklace knot and asymmetric cowboy.

OK, which brings me to how I ended up with a blue nuit kelly touch 28. The handle is actually a different blue, blue marine matte gator but it pretty closely matches the body of the bag. So it looks like all one color basically. I think I decided earlier this year I could kill two birds with one stone (a blue AND black bag) with a very dark blue bag. I narrowed down my choices to blue indigo and blue nuit. I figured I could save money this way.:lol::lol: And since I just moved, I had just started going to a new boutique and working with a new SA. So I figured my chances were slim to nil to get my request fulfilled. After about 6 months shopping there, I decide to mention i want a kelly in this color to my SA. I honestly didn't even know he was listening. He didn't seem at all interested in talking about my request so I just shrugged my shoulders and thought, oh well, I tried.
Fast forward two days later and I get an email....my SA might have a blue nuit kelly bag for me but it's "special". What does special mean? An exotic bag? I call him back and he tells me...special means a gator handle but the rest of the body is togo leather. BUT before you get too excited, I have to get approval from my store director and he is in a meeting all day. So I'll get back to you as soon as possible...so I wait in agony. The day ends and there's no news. Next day rolls around and I call at 11am. Any updates? My SA says no. He has not been able to get a hold of store director. Argh!!! Then an email comes in at 1pm. The bag is mine but I have to get there in the next few hours because the sharks are circling and if I don't come to pick it up, other SAs are already asking for it for their customers. OK, i have no idea if this is true or not but I'm not willing to find out!! I hightail it down there and then it dawns on me...I didn't ask about the price?? :panic::panic::panic: Ugh....not good. If it's beyond my personal psychology limit, I'm going to have to pass. That will be devastating. :crybaby:So I walk into the boutique and my SA says wait here!! He brings out the box and at this point, I have never seen a kelly touch so I am excited. AND I have no idea what color hardware is on the bag because he wouldn't tell me and said he wanted it to be a surprise. Secretly, I'm hoping it's phw. So he does the dustbag striptease and then there she was!! :yahoo:Blue Nuit Kelly Touch 28 PHW. So I lower my voice...and say...um what is the price? And a look of slight panic kinda crosses his face. Did he just go to bat for me and now I'm going to say I'm declining? He giggles nervously and tells me the price. Whew!! It is acceptable to me!! Relief!! We head to the checkout counter and I want to swipe my CC as fast as I can because I gotta beat traffic home. The End.

Haha. Here she is. Sometimes in the evening, yes blue nuit looks black. Sometimes (like in the last pic) in the sun, blue nuit looks more blue. Anyways, I love her and she is my constant companion. In the pic with the scarf, the bracelet is actually blue saphir in swift so you can see a color comparison. Hope you enjoyed my little story today.

I LOVE your thread, and I just have to say that this is the most insanely gorgeous bag!! Everything about it just makes my heart flutter! ❤️❤️

OMG! What a day. I think we all need a little distraction here on TPF. I'm still around although not as much. And I feel terrible neglecting this thread. Life's been just a bit busy recently and I've got a few other things going on.

About the thread we are all reading, all I'm going to say is all sides are not infallible. But I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the outcome just like you.

Let's see where did I leave off? Seeing I'm two cocktails into my evening...ok and one glass of wine (truth), can I just talk about whatever I want?

What have I bought this year scarf-wise? Hmmm....
1) On a summer's day 140 giant silk - you know I love this size - nothing's changed
2) Della Cavalleria 140 mousseline - resistance was futile
3) Mythiques Phoenix 140 CSGM - it matched my malachite kelly - I had to have it
4) Robe du Soir 90cm - yes I broke my 90 ban for this one

Bag-wise, what trouble have I gotten into? Hmm...
5) Constance 18 Gris Asphalte RGHW
6) Blue Nuit Kelly Touch 28 PHW
7) Gold Jypsiere 28 PHW
8) Black Kelly 32 Epsom GHW

UGH - then there's VCA - I think let's just skip this part. I'm in denial.

Honestly, I have not felt like it's been a busy shopping year but when I write this all down, I'm a bit horrified. :facepalm:A trip to France did not help. An obsession with a Jypsiere was unexpected. All the scarves were surprises except Della Cavalleria. That's how it happens. It's inexplicable.

Let's talk first about bags....
The constance 18. Technically it was purchased Dec 2017 but I didn't really start using it until 2018. I never had this bag on my radar. I asked (ok hassled) my SA about a bag in gris asphalte, preferably a B or K, but of course the H gods never deliver what you ask for. The color to me is the perfect mix of etain, etoupe, and Gris T and no contrast stitching. I think I'm in a small group that prefers tone-on-tone stitching and Gris A fits the bill. My SA surprised me with it right before Christmas and said I had never asked for a C18 but he thought I might like it. I was not sure when I bought it...I was worried it was too small. And it was epsom! Not my favorite leather unless it's a SLG but I took a leap of faith. You kinda have to with H from time to time. Now it's in my top 3 most used bags. Let me tell you what it's perfect for....Because I can wear it crossbody, sometimes I just leave it on at a busy restaurant. It's draped crossbody on me and the bag just rests in my lap. This is perfect for bar stools (no hook underneath the countertop), restaurants with rounded chair backs (can't sling your bag over the back of the chair), busy spaces (like concerts - go ahead and spill a drink on me - I'll just wipe it off my bag), and running errands. Luckily I don't carry alot. Wallet, phone, keys. I tried so hard not to scratch the buckle, but I failed. It is scratched. Oh well. :panic: Now let me tell you what I had to do to adjust to this bag. I had to ditch my long wallet. Yep, I bought a brand new beautiful Blue Zanzibar Citizen Twill Long Wallet with silk lining and used it maybe once or twice. it was a chore moving my CCs back and forth between the the long wallet and calvis (to fit into my C18). So I decided to abandon a regular wallet. I know!! I did all this for a bag. Now I use a little pouch that fits into all my bags. My pouch works for my C18, Kellycut, Kellys and of course my B. So no more switching between wallets and Calvis. I'm not organized enough.

Here is the gal that made me change my whole wallet setup! I seriously love her so much. She is totally a chameleon color - sometimes light gray, sometimes darker grey, sometimes brown. A lovely but unexpected surprise!

Let's talk tomorrow about a scarf and my Kelly touch. À bientôt!

Thanks for sharing MYH and love your photos, so beautiful. Both bags are classics, your SA sounds great, he guessed so rightly what bags work for you!

@MYH, missed you and I'm so glad you're posting about your wonderful finds this year. Thank you for sharing your story. I love the Robe du Soir, but so far I've resisted. Heh. Very much enjoyed your story about acquiring your Touch. She's simply wonderful! Congrats, again. [emoji8]

So glad you’re back MYH! I love hearing your thought process, as I suffer from analysis paralysis. I spend all my time figuring out what I think I want from these threads. I’ve really stopped buying scarves as I wear them so infrequently because of the heat..but now that we’re getting cooler weather, I can pull out some of the ones that have never seen the light of day . Love your blue nuit Kelly.. It is a sensational blue! Also find The chameleon effect of your grey Constance so convenient  You have such a nicely edited collection. Have you talked about your editing...I can’t remember.. that would be enlightening. I like how you think. :flowers:

Hi there! Yeah it's me again. I'm sure you all hate me by now for my spotty upkeep on this thread but I usually feel like writing a novel about whatever is swirling in my head and can't always find the time to do so. I need a good chunk of time to really properly bore you with all the details!

All right - so I've gotten a few requests to talk about my bag collection and how I edit and choose what to purchase. My bag collection has changed alot from when I started . I learned some lessons, made some mistakes, and if you would like to learn from them, I'm happy to share them with you.

As many of you will recall, I made some bold declaration many many moons ago that I could not stomach the price of H bags. Well, let's just say I have eaten my words.

Fast forward to today and I have "a few" bags now and decided they are worth the price because I will use them for years to come instead of tossing them out after a few years which I used to do with my other non-H bags. This is how I rationalized buying H bags to myself. :giggle:

In the past, I used to fall in love with a bag and buy it on impulse, bring it home, use it, and then figure out why it did not suit my purposes. Now, I have figured out I need to consider the types of activities I do first and then find a bag(s) to suit this purpose.

So here's an example of a list of activities..
- city walking and shopping
- grocery shopping
- lunch with GFs
- running errands
- go out to dinner
- music concerts, opera, shows
- classes (French, piano)
- traveling and sightseeing
- weddings & parties
- theme parks
- movies

And then weather also needs to be taken into consideration - I live in a climate where it doesn't snow but does rain. So I also take into consideration leather type. Which is why I probably wouldn't buy a box bag. I don't want to bring it out on a day that started off sunny and then get caught in a downpour.

Oh gosh - I'm almost boring myself now with my long ramble. I'll try to wrap this up quickly. My next step was then figuring out which bag I felt would be ideal for each activity not worrying about the colors yet.

- city walking and shopping (small crossbody or small shoulder bag - bag can't be too heavy)
- grocery shopping (any size crossbody - I'm freaked out to turn my back on my cart if my bag is in it)
- lunch with GFs (lots of options here - but bag needs to be able to be slung over the back of a chair)
- running errands (crossbody or small/med tote)
- go out to dinner (clutch, smaller bag, again needs to be able to be slung over the back of a chair or fit in my lap)
- music concerts, opera, shows (crossbody for music concerts and for operas/shows a bag that fits in my lap comfortably)
- classes such as French or Piano (big tote that can schlep textbooks, folders and papers)
- traveling and sightseeing (med-large crossbody - bag needs to carry the day's essentials)
- weddings & parties (clutch, small bag)
- theme parks (crossbody - one that can take a bit of abuse)
- movies (tote I don't mind setting on the floor but can fit a bit of candy :giggle:)

Then I researched bags I felt were aesthetically pleasing to me and slotted them in based on their specs. Then within each type of bag category (like crossbody), I try to have a diversified color collex. If I'm in doubt regarding a particular color, I usually go with a neutral that works with many outfits. I also try my best not to duplicate color in my collex with greys and blacks as the exception. Here's the collection I ended up with...

Small crossbody - Gris Asphalte C18 and Black PM Tempete (Delvaux)
Med-Large crossbody - Gold Jypsiere 28
Small shoulder bag that can be slung over the back of a chair - Kelly 28 Malachite, Blue Nuit, Etain and K32 Gris T and Noir
Small/med tote - Pico 22 Rouge Grenat and Orange
Big tote - Raisin B35
Tote that can take abuse - Longchamp & No Name tote I found in Paris
Clutch - Black Kellycut
Lap bags - black kellycut, Gris A C18

I could probably still use a little pop color crossbody as well as a pop color clutch. But I'm in no rush to find those. I'll see what comes my way.... Do I have too many Kellys? Yes probably, but I love that bag. The versatility of hand carry, arm carry, and shoulder carry just make it a winner for me.

Not sure if this helps or is completely convoluted. :panic: Do you go through a similar thought process to build your collex? Please share how you do it!

So - for what activities do you use your Pico? Is 22 the medium size?
Thanks for returning!!!

MYH,
I always love reading your posts! Please don't ever feel pressure from anyone to have to post on a regular basis. You take so much time and thought into your posts, and we all learn so much from you! I never want you to feel like posting is a chore; I appreciate your insight and love seeing your new acquisitions. This thread is something that I always look forward to reading.
Thank you, again, for sharing with me and our H Community of friends!

Hi MYH! Thank you thank you thank you for sharing your thoughts and pics of your wonderful collection!!
I am a total newbie - joined the forum yesterday and started collecting H scarves at the Nd of Jan 2019. Not sure what I was thinking before!
But after reading all 153 pages of your thread, I must confess : I adore your dedication, thoughtfulness, patience, kindness, taste, wit, all the silks and other goodies, and of course that cutest face of your fashionable Chester - just wanted to kiss my phone screen when I saw his picture!
Now, while I’ve started my collection of H scarves about two months ago, I’ve managed to spend all my vacation money to acquire 8 of them:
3 - in 140 silks
5 silks - in 90 cm

Like yourself, I am absolutely in love with 140 silks, especially with my first Plum 140 Panthera Pardus (I know you are not into cats:) in black/white/anthracite. It was a love at first sight, but when I’ve heard that a Part of the proceeds is donated to big cats foundation, it was no brained! Lately, I am trying to make my little contributions to making it a better world at emu opportunity I get (volunteering, donating, etc).

However, I find it very hard to find 140 silks with designs and most importantly in cw that I love. May be I am a bit impatient, but I really wish I could buy more of those and not just 90s. H.com has some inventory, but I agree with you that the colors posted on the web hardly look the same in real life.

I must admit, I’ve got a problem with purchasing second hand scarves from strangers/websites, so your advice of finding a scarf loving friend to exchange I find incredibly valuable.

On this note, I wanted to ask your opinion on how/where I could possibly find former Year designers in 140 cm? Vegas? Paris?

P.S: I live in NYC, so all 3 stores are being regularly inspected:)

Thank you so much!

Everything that you have said :D - This thread is fantastic!!!

In the last few weeks I've accumulated enough scarves that DH has placed me on ban island. I tried to exert my prowess as a scientist and inform him that 'ban island' succumbed to climate change. Next strategy is to keep plying him with his favourite dinners.....

Not being close to an H boutique I am forced into online purchased so my curation is somewhat hit-and-miss, particularly as the H Australian stock is often quite different to the 'real world' :D

Thanks for returning!!!
I'm so sorry for responding 9 months late!! but better late than never. The Pico 22 I use for casual days out with friends (like lunch and shopping) and light errands. Because it almost acts like a tote, it's easy for me to stick my hand in and out to get my wallet. But maybe it's important to note, I don't attach the lock and thread it through the silver square thingies. I leave the piece of leather that the lock hangs off of just hanging freely on the outside of the bag. Then the bag is really a tote cause theres not leather strip that divides the bag opening which impedes my hand. Does that make sense?

Thank you so much Ladybaga. I learned so much from you too when I was a newbie and your scarf circus thread. And then followed you on your journey as you collected bags as well. :hugs:

Hi there! thank you so much for responding to my thread and for sharing your love of silks. OK, the best place to find former year designs are duty free shops!! Yes, and you really need to get down and squat and dig through the drawers, especially in the back dark corners. The next best place is H sales. They happen in the US once a year and in France twice a year. Then after that, evilbay. Chester says hello btw - he would love to get kisses from you. Especially since he is a ladies man.

Everything that you have said  - This thread is fantastic!!!

You had me laughing out loud. I used to be a bench scientist too and like any nerd jokes! Yes, tell him ban island has experienced climate change and thus we need to adapt. The old rules no longer apply. Scarf accumulation is essential for survival as a barrier of protection from the sun. Cooking his favorite dinners is also a tactic I employ too!! We are so similar lol.
