Welcome back dear friend! I love your new scarf. I can't wait to see the csgm. There is no shame in taking pause at the price of an Hermes bag. Anyone rational would. But who can resist in the end?

I will go through my scarf statistics when there is a break in the action and when I have a moment.

Wel
Hello Scarfies!! Anybody there? Has everyone been having a wonderful winter break?

I’m back!! I have figured out a way to circumvent my “image too large” problem!! I’m attaching pics with my iPad now and thank goodness!! I don’t get this error anymore and I don’t have to resize my photos. And I am now using a Bluetooth keyboard so I can type normally. All the tools I need to write a post quickly are finally in place. So I’ve decided to ditch my computer altogether and go with this new solution and will be tending to this thread regularly again! In fact, I’ve made it one of my New Year’s Resolutions to come back and hang out more on purseforum!

I have missed you all so much! This year kind of got crazy around June. Long story short, hubs and I decided to move and I had to handle the move so playing scarves and bags kind of fell to the wayside. But we’re pretty much settled in now and I think I should have some more free time. Yay! And now that it’s scarf weather for almost all of us, I thought now would be a good time to get back into the swing of things with our silks!

So I must hang my head in shame because I did not follow through on my scarf tracking project. Ugh!! I’m going to give it another shot this year so stay tuned for a mid-year update. I do know someone however, that dutifully carried out the experiment as planned. Perhaps @pocketbookpup would be willing to share her results with all of us?? Paging PbP to the front desk.....PbP please come forward!

We have so much to catch up on!! I recently also turned bright red when my friend told me my “Struggling with the concept of an Hermes bag” thread got resurrected. I know...go ahead and LYAO. I’ll wait for the laugher to settle down before I continue.

....
....
.....
......
Are you done yet? Oh not yet.... ok. I’ll wait some more.

Oh and guess what? I got another bag this Christmas. So yep, I appear to have stopped struggling, completely. When the light’s better, I’ll show you all what I got. Hopefully tomorrow!

So this season’s past scarves? What was your favorite? I had high hopes for so many but in the end only one design caught my eye and I ended up with a 90cm and a 140csgm. I think this scarf design was really polarizing. Some of my friends loved it, and some hated it. I clearly was in the “loved it” camp. The subject of the design was one that struck a personal chord with me. I have a secret inner artist in me. I love to sketch, draw, paint, craft, cut, glue, design, fold origami, photograph, throw pottery, and just create art in general. In addition to hanging out at an H boutique all day, my second favorite activity is hanging out at a museum all day. So yep, you guessed it, I doubled down on Tresors d’un Artiste. I actually wanted multiple cws of each format, but I restrained myself (for now). Who knows if I’m going to keep up my resolve.

So for the 90cm, I went with the burgundy cw background. And for the csgm, I went with the light grey background. Both seemed overall very pleasing to my eye and also....they both had lots of emerald green in them. And you know me, I’m always thinking about my little malachite K28. I just adore that bag and love having lots of scarf options to go with it. I also LOVE LOVE the flowers in the corner. I can’t really explain why, it’s just an emotion I feel when I see them. I’m sure many of you also get this feeling with some aspect of your favorite scarves.

OK, without further ado...here are the pics.

Unfortunately the light was just awful for pics of the csgm so I’ll post those tomorrow.
Welcome back!
Seems like the perfect scarf for you. I use my iPad 95% of the time accessing tpf. What is your secret for the large files? I still have problems with that sometimes.

Well DH and I were supposed to go somewhere today but neither of us were feeling 100% when we woke up, so it has turned into a lazy day at home. I swear I haven't been drinking. I'm just in a kooky mood so get ready for a wacky post. If you just want to see pretty pictures, feel free to skip ahead to the end.

Today didn't start off great. Neither DH nor I felt well so we cancelled our fun plans. Then because I had some free time, I decided to take care of some household chores that have been on my list. :rtr: First I had to call our cable company to complain about our crappy service (seriously, we haven't had on demand or dvr working for 3 weeks now) and hassling our insurance agent about why our insurer doesn't want to renew our policy. It turns out there were a couple of big commercial claims recently with our agent and they got dropped! :blah: and we were in the cross-fire. Ugh! And they are only now working on getting us a new policy and the old one expires in 3 weeks. Seriously, being an adult sucks sometimes.

OK in times like these, that's when I retreat to my happy place. My silk, jewelry, and bag closet. :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9: Just seeing the beautiful silks all lined up in my drawer puts me in a much better mood!!!

So I was reviewing the scarves I've already covered and duplicated (LOL!) and realized I have never showcased my 90cm Ex Libris en Kimonos. What's wrong with me? I love that scarf. But I think I know why....I'm afraid of using or wearing that scarf. It's so precious. I think it's the most I have ever paid for a scarf on evilbay. To buy that scarf, I had to write the seller a letter explaining why she should sell it to me. No kidding. Have you ever been the buyer in a seller's market for a house and you need to write a letter explaining why the seller should sell their house to you? Yeah, that was me. And the seller told me she had already gotten 10 other requests similar to mine. And I don't think she was lying. And of course I was trying to negotiate a little discount because the price was sky-high. So in the end, I must have made a pretty compelling argument because she contacted me a few days later and said I have been chosen to be the new owner! :yahoo: So now you see, I'm terrified of ruining this scarf. It's not easy to find another. So I baby it. I just let it rest in the drawer most of the time. You know you have these scarves too. I'm not the only one right? I think my blue Turandot falls into this category too.

OK, now a short rant directed all the all-powerful Hermes gods. Please, please reissue this design! Why do you keep rolling out Chasse en Inde? Everyone who wants that scarf already has it. Don't you want to create a scarf frenzy in your boutiques? If so, reissue Ex Libris En Kimonos. I'm sure we will even be in such an intoxicated state we will buy other scarves as well. Heck, I even might buy a Chasse en Inde as well if you would just reissue this design. And don't do a bunch of funky colors please. Stick to the jewel tones thank you. That way I can buy multiples, back-ups to my back-ups, you get the picture. You will make beaucoup bucks if you would just reissue this design. In all formats too. 90cm, 140cm giant silk, and 140cm cashmere. And oh...70cm too. Why not. And please don't discontinue that format. I think you need to hold a management meeting right away to discuss how it was a bad decision to cut that size out of the lineup. You can still reverse your decision. It's not too late. Thanks in advance! I'll be waiting to see eLenK next season ok?

All righty!! Now that we got that out of the way. What to say about eLenK? I love the Japanese-y woodblock navy waves in the corner. The red crane makes me smile everytime I unfurl the scarf. And the best part is the crane shows up beautifully when the scarf is tied on the bias. The only thing is with this colorway, you gotta stock up on navy clothes. I don't really love it against black. But lucky me! I just bought a navy silk shirt from Apostrophe (another boutique PbP taught me about in Paris) and I now have a navy bag too! My blue indigo Picotin. So I am set. I am a happy girl.

Now I know some of you have hoarded all or almost all of the cws. Would you be so kind as to post pics of them here on this thread so we can all drool and weep silently at our iPads? Pretty please? Think of all us poor souls that only have 1 cw. I have even heard there are a few amongst us that are still searching for their first eLenK. Feel sympathy for us and post your treasures. Thank you!

A few photos of this glorious scarf with some accessories and different knots. Ooh- and look at that crane eyeball I got to show in my George V knot. It takes skill to make hairy eyeballs appear! :lolots:

I'm just getting started with my scarf collection, and this whole thread has been so informative and inspirational! I actually just bought the same cw of the ex libris en kimonos from eBay too, and I'm so excited for it! I can't wait for it to arrive so I can try tying it the different ways you modeled. Thanks for starting this whole thread!

OK before we get to the tresors cashmere, does anybody want to see my new Christmas pressie bag? A little backstory I guess would also be helpful. I have really been wanting Gris Asphalte, like in a really bad way. I was being totally annoying by asking my SA for months. So I had pretty much given up on getting something in GA because I think the whole world has been asking for this color and I hadn’t heard anything in months. I figured I hadn’t spent enough money in other categories to be at the top of the list. OK, to be fair, I was offered a bunch of other bags in Gris Asphalte, just not the bags I wanted. So fast forward to a week ago and I’m paying a visit to my local boutique and my SA walks over and says he has a surprise for me!! Oh goody! I thought it was a shawl I had requested he set aside. He walks over with a teeny box and says it’s in Gris Asphalte!! My heart sinks a bit cause I can eye up box sizes and I thought it was a tpm Evelyne which would not have worked for me. I think they are adorable on others but don’t look that great on me. So I’m acting kind of blasé as he opens the box and then slowly pulls out a Constance 18 in rose gold hardware! :panic: OK, to be honest, I never asked for a Constance 18. I actually had never considered this bag because I thought it was too small. So I’m kind of freaking out because I know I have to make a quick decision. On one hand, I don’t want to jump at a bag that doesn’t work for me just because I know it’s desirable and is in the color I’ve been lusting after. On the other hand, I don’t want to pass up a bag just because I’ve never considered it before because what if it does work for me? Oh man. I’m so confused. Hubby is actually with me and says, we’ll take it!! What? You are not allowed to speak for me!! :whut: So he practically runs over to the register and whips out his credit card. OK, now I’m really under pressure because I have to stop the transaction if I don’t want it. So I’m racking my brains for how I would use it and I decide...ok....think...I had wanted a Kellycut clutch in Gris Asphalte and this little Constance could actually work in any situation I would have used a clutch. It fits a bit more than the Kellycut actually and I can wear it different ways. Doubled up on my shoulder, slung casually over my shoulder, and maybe even crossbody (which I later figured out doesn’t really work for me cause I’m too tall). And perhaps I can even use it not just for dressy evening events but also for casual daytime events. So in a few seconds I decide it was meant to be mine. The Hermes gods are full of surprises and sometimes you just have to go along with it!

So here she is. A true chameleon color. If you were to ask me how to describe this color, you would get a 5 minute answer. Sometimes she looks like a grey that’s unlike any other grey Hermes has made before. But sometimes she looks like etain, sometimes etoupe, Gris Mouette, and even Gris Tourterelle. And I love that about her.

Here is a collage of what I mean! See how she looks different in every photo?

And here’s a comparison photo. Top left is C18 Gris Asphalte in epsom, top right is TPM Evelyne etain in clemence, bottom left is Evelyne PM Gris Tourterelle 2016 in clemence, and bottom right is Kelly 32 Gris Tourterelle 2010 in Togo. Are any of you hunting for Gris Asphalte too?

OK last post from me because I think I’ve overstayed my welcome at this point.

I’m kind of on the run at the moment but wanted to show you the cashmere Tresors d’Un Artiste cashmere shawl. I love the light grayish blue background on this shawl and the deep malachite colors of the toolbox. The crazy thing about this shawl is that the main colors are green and coral and who in the world would’ve thought those two colors would work well together?!?! The magic of Hermes scarf colorations never cease to amaze me! One other thing I really like about this scarf is that it has a good amount of brown in it. Most of my other scarves have black and navy blue as their neutral base so brown is great for me. I have a pair of brown pants that hardly get worn because I don’t have many scarves that go with it. So now I can bring my brown pants back into regular rotation!

Sorry for the poor lighting in some of these pics. I had a heck of a time trying to capture the true colors but I did my best with the light I have this morning. Enjoy!

@MYH: I love your new bag and I love your collage too. I didn't expect GA to be a chameleon color, but you've clearly illustrated that it is. Also, it is lovely paired with RGHW. Congratulations and wear her in good health!

So nice to see you back posting , and I'm enjoying picking up on your H activities again , thanks to your fabulously readable descriptions.
You've surprised me with the shawl, I love it ! I wasn't loving or hating Tresors , but I really love that greyish background with the coral, red and green and it ties really beautifully.
May have to do a search now.
I just bought a Jardins de Sintra silk which , gorgeous though it is , seems to add 10yrs so I may do a swop.

This shawl is fabulous on you! It's fabulous anyway, but you are going to get so much use out of it. Wow. I love the contrast hem - very subtle. And the malachite / teal bits are so lovely!
I love the 90 you chose also - I remember liking that one when I first saw the various CWs, but never saw it IRL. You make these both soooooootempting.
And the bag! Gorgeous. I love greys.

Well, that doesn't sound good. Is it the colors that don't flatter you, or what? Did someone - ahem - point this out, or did you notice it in pix? I find I can assess my good/bad colors better in pictures. Of course that generally means buying the scarf and bringing it home, then going back to the boutique, if necessary.

I will post my thoughts on what you said about Jardin de Sintra in another standalone post. But definitely come and be my twin on Tresors!

Oh honey!! Go back and get the Tresors 90. The burgundy red background is really divine. The other one I was tempted with was the blue/orange cw but when I tried it on, it was a bit too bright for me.

I have the same shawl .... love it. My sa actually recom this color
Yay twins!! Out of curiousity, what color top do you wear with yours?

Yay! Welcome back! I am delighted that you are settled because this is one of my fave threads. Yes, I saw the 'should I get a H bag' thread and chuckled. I didn't know you back then but have followed this thread and know of your myriad of lovely bags.
I was so pleasantly surprised and happy to hear this is one of your favorite threads!! That is great encouragement for me to keep it updated. :hugs:

Yes, I’ve decided we are all a bit crazy to buy these bags! And please do come back and report your findings on your scarf tracking project.

I'm just getting started with my scarf collection, and this whole thread has been so informative and inspirational! I actually just bought the same cw of the ex libris en kimonos from eBay too, and I'm so excited for it! I can't wait for it to arrive so I can try tying it the different ways you modeled. Oh you bagged a unicorn!! Congrats on ex-Libris en kimonos. I know many people that would give up a kidney for that cw. It sounds like your collection is off to a great start. So happy that you have joined us here on this thread. Can’t wait to hear more about your collection.

Congrats on a stunning and unique Constance. I don't usually gravitate towards grays, but this one with the rose gold hardware is really fab. I love the design subject of the shawl and almost went for it in a 90 silk, but I couldn't get up the love for the background colors I was shown. The shawl is so much better than the dark scarves because it really showcases the interesting colors and what an artist's box should look like. Great choices!
