Hi, It's a little over a week after arriving into Korea.
I've planned to visit Korea in August and was looking into clinics slowly but due to my personal reasons I had to bring forward my trip. I couldn't list up clinics that I wanted to visit as I had to book my flight and hotel ASAP.
They had June is summer but the weather is still cool and the sky is so pretty! May weather was so perfect to look around Seoul.
It's my 3rd visit to Korea. Came 2 times to my nose and other was with my friends, visited Busan and Jeju Island; so this visit isn't really new nor special as much.
There's many foreigners than I've thought I'd see and saw many who undergone surgery in Gangnam area. I am becoming a little lonely since I'm here alone, but I think time will fly since I've arranged my nose job for next week. Spending my time shopping and looking around beforehand; most importantly need to stock up food before surgery.
I had my first nose job back in 2016 in Apgujeong and my second in Gangnam, 2018. Both surgeries weren't as sucess as I hoped to be so planned my visit for 2020 but due to Covid19 I couldn't visit. I really want this round would be my very last nose job surgery so looked into clinics really hard and well.
I got to know this forum back in 2018 and got lots of help and good informations. Writing my experience will be a little awkward but I want to share and help does in need just like how it helped me so that's why I'm writing this.
Now, I'll talk about my surgery experience.
I'm not good with words so my review won't be as good as other reviews. I'm also going to upload my photos.
Background
First surgery back in Apgujeong, 2016 and my second nose job in Gangnam back in 2018.
1. April 2016 : had a low nose bridge and bulbous nose tip, bulbous tip still remaining
2. May 2018 : nose tip drooping, nose tip still bulbous. Planned for another revision surgery
I'm not going to mention which clinics I had my surgery at. I've got to know them both on the forum and they have good reviews; they are well known for foreign patients. But, not being satisfied with the results are totally my personal experience so I'm not going to name them. (The doctor who did my surgery has left that clinic when I looked him up, don't know where he's at)
I had two nose jobs and still don't like the results. Right now; my nose is too high, bulbous nose tip and it's drooping down. I really don't like how the nose tip is still bulbous.
How I want my nose is small and more defined nose shape. Through online consultation, clinics told me that I may need to use rib cartilage(donated or my own). So that is why I've looked into clinics that specialize in revision surgery with rib cartilages. To be honest, I wanted to use my own so I've narrowed my search down. But there's not much information about revision specialized clinics.
There's lots of information shared on the forum but I wanted to look in more. Since it's my third time, I was so desperate hoping that this time round I'd have satisfying result. Before coming, I did a lot of research and watched Youtube videos at night. I wanted to find a clinic that is famous between Koreans and aren't known to foreigners.
It came to me that there’d be better doctors in Korea since Korean female noses are all pretty and Korea does a lot of nose job cases. I knew there’d be doctors who’s not yet known to foreigners and does the surgery really well since all Korean female celebrities has pretty noses. As it’s my 3rd round, I wanted to research more and thought I’d find doctors who’s more known to Korean locals than foreigners.
How I looked into popular local clinics in Korea?
I think I saw a post about how Paul got to know ILAC through the guesthouse part-timer. That came to my mind. I've asked my Guesthouse receptionist(Female in 20s, student, part-timer). I've asked her that I'm here for my nose job and if she knew any clinics that are good at rhinoplasty; she showed me few clinics through Babi-Talk and Gangnam-Unni app, telling me that these clinics are popular.
She told me, she got her nose done too showing me her nose pulling her mask down. It was perfect! I asked where she got her surgery done and told me Urban Plastic Surgery, Dr. Lee Seungho. She added that he may have gone to another clinic so she searched him for me. She showed me that he actually opened up his own clinic in Gangnam called BT Plastic Surgery.
She showed me BT Plastic Surgery’s page but since it’s new, there was only Korean site; I wanted to see before and after photos of his work but nothing was uploaded, instead showed me Babi-talk. There’s more before and after photos uploaded on there than the website; photos uploaded were all so pretty. I asked if she could call up the clinic and book a consult with him.
She was so kind to ask if they had a translator, charged for consultation, etc. and asked about the surgery fee (foreigner price). They said they charge the same the same as the locals.
I know there’s few or large majority of clinics charge higher than the locals but hearing that BT charge the same as the locals and has in-house translator was unexpected surprise. So, that’s how I went to BT for my consult.
