MINI~MINI~MINI! Mini Flap Thread

Hi guys, I’m new here. I’ve been looking to buy a Chanel Caviar Mini Rectangular black/gold hardware. I have been looking on Fashionphile, Tradesy and The RealReal, due to the high demand and scarcity of the bag, they sell them for almost 50% more than their retail price (as off now retail is $4400 …). I called Chanel customer service and they can’t even put me on the waitlist for when its available. What should I do? should I just go ahead and buy one from the used website or wait? Unfortunately Chanel no longer makes caviar minis. If you want caviar go ahead and purchase preloved and expect to pay a markup over retail because it is no longer in production. Otherwise the only one you can get in store is lambskin which is also really difficult to get because it is in high demand. Do you have purchase history in the boutique or department stores (Saks, NM, Nordstrom)? If so you can check the in stock thread, or get in touch with an SA to see if they can help you. If not it will be very difficult because they don’t sell remotely to those without a purchase history. In that case try popping into the boutique and see if they have any. You never know you might just get lucky if you’re ok with lambskin! Good luck!

Yes, it’s normal due to lambskin. Mine do the same.

Thank you!! I texted asking about it my SA and he told me same that it’s normal. I was just little panic because it’s my first Chanel and first lamb skin purse. I own LV, YSL, Balmain and other designers purses. But none of these are made from lambskin. So I decided to keep it. And even though it’s not perfect it makes it special, and I even start liking these small wrinkles. It’s really hard to find mini right now at store. If I’d return this one I don’t think I had a chance to get a black mini in closest future.

A week ago I visited 3 different boutiques and received different replies at some of them. At first boutique SA told me they don’t do waiting list for mini anymore and I need to purchase something to create a profile at store so when mini comes she can charge my card and send it to me immediatly. But when I answered that I can buy earrings she answered that I need to make a major purchase, like something over $1000. I think she just wanted to make a sale. So I went to a boutique at NM, and SA there told me she can put me on the waiting list if I order something even if it’s earrings or sunglasses as long as purchase made at store. But they didn’t have anything that I liked. So I went to the third boutique and they told me same as the previous one. So while I was thinking what to get, some lady came to return iridescent mini and I just couldn’t help myself and bought it, although I wanted a black one. I just decided I’ll have better chances to get a black mini if I show to SA that I can afford it. He told me the waiting time for black mini has been over 8 weeks lately. Few days ago I texted to my SA to make sure he didn’t forgot to put me on the waiting list and he assured me he already did

Finally able to add a Black Mini Rectangular Classic Flap with LGHW to my collection the first week of November! I was on the waitlist and quoted “1-2 years (!)” but my SA came through in just a few months. They received more units than expected I guess? Oddly enough, this Chanel SA is in a different state but my other Chanel SA in the state I live in reached out the same week with a Black Medium Classic Flap in Lambskin with GHW before the price increase. The Mini was already on its way to me so I declined the Medium, but likely would have chosen the Mini anyways if timing lined up as the pre-price increase price for the Medium was pushing it for me personally. The Mini with LGHW is from 21K (right) and I included photos of my other Mini with SHW from 19C (left). I’m guilty of having the exact same bag but with different hardware… but you love what you love, right?!

Besides having a sale history (ideally a big sale > $1000) as previously mentioned, you can watch the Chanel store stock/boutique thread to see what others find in the store and post. Sometimes a mini will show up and you can message the person who posted it to get their SA info to purchase. You have to watch the thread daily since once a mini is posted, it's gone quickly. Hope this helps.

Do you recommend a black or grey rectangular classic mini ? will the light color or black one performing better in the long run? Sorry all my Chanel’s are in caviar; not has any in lamskin Yet.

Black one is more practical I think. But if you have already black in caviar maybe a light color one would be nice to have. The one thing to consider is that all light color purses are very delicate. I was told its not recommended to wear with any dark clothes since it can transfer the color on purse

Thanks @mmvv22 ! I heard of color transfer too. I already have multiple black caviars; will ask for a grey one if available.
