I know that this is a very old post but I can't help but reply. I am glad the most if not all of you are against MK LOGO BAGS, because now when I carry mine I won't run into anyone of you carrying one. I love to be opposite the crowd. Very glad I read your post.

:smile1:
I don't own MK but I do love LV monogram, however I see a lot of MK logo bags where I live so carry yours with pride! Who cares what others think. :D

It didn't seem very necessary or productive to resurrect this zombie thread.

I really don't think that's being a nonconformist.MK handbags are very trendy.
I say non conformist because I don't conform to the majority of the opinions posted in this blog. I like what I like. I have been posting on this blog off and on since 2006, and I am not comfortable with the negativity I am reading. I love purses, handbags, since I was 5 years old they are an extension of myself and my particular taste. I think we should respect each other and realize everyone here is different and that it is ok to like what you like. I come to this blog more for information rather than conversation but when I saw this post. The negative statements rubbed me the wrong way. Excuse the soap box. But purses are just purses.

I think LV monogram is very pretty and feminine. I have loved it since I first saw it in the early 80s. I do feel self-conscious carrying it where I live ( small town) but am trying to just carry it anyway because I really do think it is very pretty. Shrugs.

MK monogram is a little different. Sharper angles on the Ms and Ks, though the monogram itself is a little softer if that makes any sense. Not exactly pretty to me. I have a few MK logo bags I carry quite frequently because they are so very practical and user-friendly. The PVC feels different from the coated canvas, but so far, it is holding up really well.

I prefer the coated canvas/PVC to leather nowadays. My shoulders cannot handle the weight of leather bags anymore. I also enjoy not worrying about rain or snow on the coated canvas/PVC bags.

I still have some leather bags that I carry if I will only be using them for a few hours, but if I have to use a handbag all day, I will gravitate towards one of my coated canvas/PVC bags.

People are free to judge me as tacky and pretentious. If it's not one thing, it's another... "they" will judge your shoes, your house, your children, your hair, your make-up, your alma mater, your accent, your political leanings, your religion, your lack of religion, your jewelry, your diet, your tattoos, your lack of tattoos...you get the idea.

I love what another person on tpf has as her signature line "You do you. I'll do me." Is it CornishMom? MoNikki? Anyway, perfect.

There are multiple reasons people carry monogrammed bags. For some it's because they genuinely think they are attractive bags. For others it's a matter of practicality. And sure, for some people it's a bit of showing off, feeling their oats. Maybe they just got a promotion and want people to see they are coming up in the world. Different strokes for different folks. :smile1:

Personally I would recommend giving the MK mono bags a try. I was pleasantly surprised.

Yes!!! This!! We all judge people for both valid & shallow reasons. I wish we didn't but, it's human nature. And, we all pick bags for valid or shallow reasons. Pick the bag you love.

I personally despise all heavily logoed bag / heavily charmed and / or coated canvas bags (MK, Coach, LV, Gucci)...with a hot, fiery passion. But that is just a matter of personal taste and preference. And, despite my strong preference, I've seen few of these types of bags that I actually thought were very attractive. I think just about any bag "characteristic" in the hands of a gifted designer can be utilized to create a beautiful bag.

Did the OP ever let us know what she / he purchased? I hope they are happy with their bag! I'd love to see a modeling shot. 😊

I would too! I like monogrammed bags too. I have a Burberry Haymarket tote, and it is more practical than soft leather. The trend is leaning towards minimalism and logo-less but personal preferences are well, personal. It also depends on the entire set-up. If a person keeps his or her attire classy and understated, match that with a monogrammed bag, I would say he or she has great taste, not showy.

Showy people will definitely let everyone know they are well, showing off. No one else will be in doubt about it.
