Really? This is the only one I take part in. I do read the tea thread on Lipstick Alley but I don't post because I don't even understand how the hell to get "points" to post and it's just not a consistent thread, anyway. I won't even go near the IMDB boards because that sh*t is a free for all and I can't with that place. Except for the ONTD "boards" (don't get me started) and the Celeb*tchy "boards," I'm unaware of any others.

I stick here. Lipstick Alley confuses me (it's amusing, but wow, it can get nasty!) I don't go on IMDB anymore and obviously Celeb and ONTD are a non-option.

On ONTD these days MF posts are either a love fest or a hate fest. No middle ground.

That's when you know you've entered the realm of stardom. This Penelope Cruz anecdote is pretty on-point with the topic (fast-forward to 1:22 if you're impatient -- and behold the wonder of a genuine Leonardo DiCaprio guffaw!):

I stick here for the gossip: sharp minds who appreciate Fassbender, but don't deify him either. Just a right balance :D

His best bromance is with Liam Cunningham imo! They've a similar unpretentious working-class humour, like a nephew and uncle ribbing each other at Christmastime.

Hahah I actually perceive platonic brother/sister vibes between Michael and Charlize. Playful and comfortable (much more than Keira and Carey) but resolutely non-sexual. I think she's pretty much the female equivalent of him.

I wonder what his Prometheus character's accent will be?
The way she was staring at him at one point, I don't know. The telltale sign is one someone stares at your lips.

:weird: Wow... No thank you!

Just saw the Newsweek videos as well. Clooney kinda-sorta won me over a bit. Of course, he was the one that spoke the most so maybe that's why. But I did like the part where he said most of his money came from commercials overseas (Nespresso, we get those here) so he doesn't have to *rape* the movie budget. I've seen way too many movies where the actors get $20 million for doing crap! Haven't seen The Descendants yet...

And I'd totally forgot the Adrien Brody/The Thin Red Line story! I've only seen it once. If I watch it again I'll probably think of Shame/MF when that music comes on.

Ah, do you come from la Suisse? (Blondel & Therme Vals...sigh)
Clooney's got good taste, shilling for Nespresso. They don't call him Mr. President in Hollywood for nothing...can't think of anyone in that business who openly dislikes him; he's a smooth operator ;)

Oh, perhaps you're right. I just figured, it's Fassbender: after months with that awesome cast and crew (they're all around the same age too, unlike X-Men) they probably all flipped burgers and t-bones together, swapped war stories, beer-ponged and farted on each other on top of those sky diving adventures. Great times, but it might take away some of the ... mystique :D

Brazil actually. :smile1: There are posters of Clooney in our Nespresso stores. That guy mastered the sexy/smug smile (more smug imo).

Finished watching the Roundtable clips. When Viola was talking about african american actresses I thought he was a bit annoying and too much of an attention seeker when he interrupted her. Reminded me of a friend who always had to top whatever story was being told. Must - be - center - of - attention. So yeah, he kinda/sorta won me over, but now I'm back to neutral again. Bless MF for making a thoughtful question though.

Thoughtful, albeit naive, in my opinion. I admit I was taken aback by it, to be honest. I seriously wondered if he was joking. I mean, is it because he's European and male that he's just not as knowledgeable about present day racial politics in America (with respect to his industry, anyway)? But Viola answered him in a very diplomatic way. I'm sure she knew he was being sincere in asking the question. I just assumed he'd know better. I mean, there are people on this thread from Europe who know better.

I thought Clooney was overbearing, too. He probably thinks he has to take the lead on everything or no one will participate but 1) that's not the case and 2) he has a very specific, Hollywood insidery (despite his attempts to front otherwise) career. All of the other actors at that table have much more interesting personal stories than he does imo. And MF was asking a serious question, obviously he knows its hard, there are a limited number of projects, the funding isn't great etc but its really important to let people give voice to it and give it specificity rather than just leave it as a vague idea with no shape to it. Buuut Clooney wanted to talk about ER.

edited to add - I think Michael was trying to draw Viola out, I don't think he was being naive but maybe I am being naive about him being naive.

So you're Fassy neighbour basically :smile1: But doesn't he live on Mare Street? I know someone who lives near his place too and who saw him takin' the bus and hanging out around Broadway Market/London Fields' pubs a lot
He sleeps around with random women met in pubs (?) well then the guy must be pretty desperate/or lonely that's not a very healthy behavior at all  I'm glad for them but honestly if he's such a man wh*re then Michael...
LMFAO!!! You are too funny and honest at the same time. Ha!!!!

They dated?!? His movies are brilliant but I don't know how she dealt with him; I get mentally drained of his narcissistic self-aggrandizing ways whenever I watch one of his interviews. Plus... he looks like a ****ing Gargoyle.

I don't know about his talents, but the Fish Tank sex scenes with Kierston Wareing do hint that the man knows what he's doing. It's one of the most realistic (not porny in any way) sex scenes I've seen onscreen.
He must of got the semi with that scene. Remember he mentioned it. :)

Michael being his adorable self in an old sh*tty TV series which aired on BBC One in 2000 called 'Hearts & Bones'.
He's rockin' an awful german accent and right from the start you'll understand why it got cancelled but still watch it for young Fassy cuteness only  ;) :graucho:

Dumbest lines I've ever heard though:lolots:
"Are all Englishmen gay like in the movies?"
"- I'm a vegetarian. - And I'm a pisces"
"Do you like to go to the movies tonight see a sexy film?"
"Still the lady from the counsel assured me, there are no sharks in Bedfordshire."
"From now on I'm Mr. Darcy" :amazed:

Oscar nominations are unveiled in a couple of hours, y'all.
Hope Fassbender makes it, but am not sure (not due to jinxed chances) since it was always an extremely uphill battle. For sure he's in the top 6-8 performances, but will he make the final 5? That is ze question.
