I see you were paying extra attention to the Fassdong through those scenes :graucho::p
I was feeling secondhand embarrassment mostly because they all looked pretty real to me (except the blow job part of course) and Michael's epic O-faces were also quite revealing...

Well I have seen the film 5 times already so you do start to pay attention to different things.;) Michael's faces are still super disturbing and cringe worthy. It makes you wanna cry. I wonder if we have Keira's jaw acting to blame for that bit of the scene.

Ok I don't know about Michael but with healthy eater most men mean a girl/woman who isn't afraid of the food and enjoys eating it. I know it sounds like such a cliche but I've been told by my guy friends and male relatives that they sometimes don't know what to do with a girl who doesn't eat this or that out of fear of getting fat(even though they look perfectly normal). After a while it's exhausting to be with a person who spends a lot of the time thinking about diets or simply worrying how she looks like. That's where self confidence comes in play. :smile1:

Who knows, maybe Michael was thinking of someone with healthy eating habits not necessarily someone who eats a lot :p

Good point, but you don't need to be a guy to get annoyed with women and their eating habits. I know some women who are completely obsessed with their diets. They let it dictate every aspect of their lives to the point where they have nothing else to talk about. It's all about diets and going to the gym. If they do go out with a man and they don't get a phone call afterwards they blame their weight, when in fact it's their personality that stinks. Same goes for men who are obsessed with their bodies.

Anyhoo, if you think about it, it would make sense that Fassy likes a girl who eats normal. Considering that food has always played a major role in his life with his dad being a chef and him helping out in the restaurant. The man can cook for me anytime. He could give a new meaning to the title The Naked Chef.

ITA! Again, she's just upset that her little elite darling of the underground has become mainstream, in other words no Fassdong or Lainey.

Where did you read that people in Hollywood hated Shame? I thought it was doing pretty well box office and critics wise in the States.

The film is so popular in Britain. Every special screening of Shame has been sold out in a matter of minutes/hours. On the 20th of January, Michael will do a Q&A session at his local cinema in Hackney. It's already sold out.

LOL The thing is Lainey jumped on Fassy train after TIFF more because she didn't have anyone else interesting to obsess about(her words, not mine). Look to be perfectly honest, that thing with Michael confirming/unconfirming/coming to TIFF wasn't very professional so I'm getting why she's harping about it but that has gotten old and who cares about it after 4 months. Lainey quit on Askars mostly because he was playing a PR game and pretending he's above it all.

Re: HW people hating Shame

Those were Academy members. I'll send you a link in DM because it's on another board.

You know what that reminds me of? Ewan McGregor's appearance on the Graham Norton Show this summer (to promote Beginners) and his anecdote on improvisation being akin to masturbation in acting scenes.:laugh:

Cue: 10.38 min but if you have time, watch the whole episode because it is hilarious.

Those Academy members are like 90 years old or so (for the most part) they are narrow minded people who are offended by anything related to sex no wonder they didn't liked it at all. Every year, the Academy invites new members to fill vacancies after others retire or pass away. The whole thing sounds a lot like a college fraternity IMO. They've always played by the rules (PR games, bribes, gifts, relationship preferences...) and they lost their credibility years ago, it's nothing but a joke now (when even Dakota Fanning gets to vote ).

Not only Fanning... but Rooney Mara got invited to join the Academy last year! I'm guessing the 10 min cameo in Social Network and Nightmare on Elm Street blew them away (her turn in Dragon Tattoo was superb, in all fairness).

I ventured on twitter out of curiosity and found this hilarious tweet from an irish fella:

Inglorious Basterds, classic. Last time I met Mike Fassbender he had his shoulder up my ***. I was loosehead prop he was flanker early 90s.
@-- did u know u have something in common with Mike Fassbender? He was a blindside flanker in da past. Killarney under 16s.

Who knew the Fassbender was part of a rugby team once upon a time? Awesome. Glad he's still got his teeth, 15-odd years later.

Poor guy, damned if you do answer nicely, damned if you don't (bc then you're a pig, skirtchaser, boring)! Can't someone happen to be a good chap without being called a crowd-pleasing sucker? ;)

That video of his interaction with Carey is super endearing and contradicts (thankfully!) what I misjudged from their photos with Keira at NBR. Because judging from Carey's stiff posture and serious face in all pictures next to him, I thought they didn't get along well or something!

It's impossible to please everyone :p

Carey is very often stiff in photographs especially in candids. Many find her smug or haughty because she looks unapproachable in many of her photographs.

Nope! I'm afraid we've become too jaded thanks to these smooth talking actors.

Steve actually mentioned during last night's Q&A that when he put Michael and Carey in a room together, they didn't seem to like each other. He said he was worried because there was no chemistry. Later on he realised that both of them were already in character.

I believe Michael said something about not wanting to interact with Carey outside of set because that awkwardness would translate well on the screen. If they got to know each other well and became friends, there would be some connection on the screen and it wasn't supposed to be like that.

That's because they were raised with images of porn stars and supermodels. They have no idea how real women are supposed to look.

Here's an interesting article you might want to read. It's a bit depressing though.
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Relationships/How_Men_Select_Women

Thanks for the article! Interesting stuff but I'm not surprised at all. In certain parts reminds me of The Selfish Gene by R. Dawkins.

That scene looked pretty real to me. I wonder what Deedee and Calamity meant when they said movie magic was used.

Surely this kind of stuff happens all the time. If you look for instance at that scene with Michael and Nicole, that stuff was off the hook (until the little malfunction of course).

It was certainly off the hook! No wonder people want two of them together in real life.

Tell me about it. Such women and men spend their lives worrying about calories and life just goes by them. :nogood: As if some guy cares if I weight 60 or 62 kilos, it's all about proportions and looking healthy.

IA woman staying by his side would need a lot of energy to keep up with him! :graucho:

I've read somewhere some don't even bother to watch screeners and just fill out the forms ticking the boxes with names of people they like or think they're good. :noggin:

Besides Academy chose Rocky over Taxi driver as the Best Film back in 1976 so we can't expect much of them today when it's even worse than 35 years ago.

Reese was good but Joaquin should have won it. He was amazing.

OMG no wonder she thinks highly of her acting abilities. With so much hype nad that unfortunate Vogue interview, I'm very much turned off by Dragon Tattoo and I won't be seeing it anytime soon. At least Rooney is making interesting fashion choices :p

Your accurate list is depressing me -- especially the Taxi Driver, Cazale, Malick, and Oldman omissions. Looks like Malick and Oldman's snubbing trend might continue this year too  (crossing my fingers that they get nominated)

And Ejm, oh the SaBuGATE ... now that tells you how much political power she wields in Hollywood when people who don't care for her movie LIKE HER SO MUCH they vote for her nonetheless.
