It definitely doesn't need that. It's a hardy finish to this chevre if you take care of it sensibly.

I treated mine. I had another goat skin bag that I got caught in the rain with and it stained it, its faded out now it's been about three years but you can still see it some spots in certain light :( it was red.

I'm sorry about your fade. My black chevre ME Town has a glazed finish that adds protection and it seems very tough.

It's ok thank you! This bag was very similar though the chèvre does seem thicker but now I spray all my bags just in case [emoji15]
Lol!!! My black chèvre seems to have more of a finish than my pink though which I find odd lol

Thanks for answering me. I've been wanting to use this bag but it's been raining often but only lightly.

Would you be able to help me decipher the tags? I've done research but am still quite lost.

On the paper tag, 2015 3 is the year and season, 2015/Fall. 390149 is the style number for the type of bag, in this case, ME chèvre Town; you'll see it matches the style number on the underside of your tag. The 6560 on the underside is the color code, and the E also indicates year/season. HTH :)

Oh, I'm also of the opinion you do not need to treat it with anything. Especially looking closely at the sheen on your bags, I think they will be just fine if they get a few raindrops or a mist on them. Of course I would wipe the water off at the first opportunity and not let the water sit on the surface for an extended period, perhaps hide the bag under your coat or hug it close if you get caught unexpectedly in inclement weather... as jellyv said, just common sense care :)

I have a waterproof bag (though it would wet in downpour but for light rain definitely good). It's really2 helpful especially when travelling. The thing is it's still really2 hard to find one. Hopefully there could be more to sell in the future.

Stop water spray would add an extra llayer thus, the outlook of the bag's texture. It wouldn't be as shiny as the original in ME chevre's case

Needing some opinions on the WHITE Chevre Metal Edge City. I saw one & love the look! Wasn't sure how it would wear though? Haven't had a white bag in years! TIA!

I love the white bag but my two biggest fears would be color transfer (like from your jeans or a dark colored wool jacket) and how the color will age I'd fear that it would turn yellowish over time.

Hi - I'm al bal Girl from the beginning and had 10 Bag - all are gone - no - stop - only one will stay - black RH allmost jetblack from 2009 ... Now I*m lustering in a ME with silver hardware... next to me on my table is a black ME with pale Gold HW from mytheresa... witch one should i take??? Is there any silver for me???

Go with silver. IMO pale gold is neither here nor there. Yes there is still silver to be had. The Balenciaga boutique is not carrying it but other retailers are. I don't know where you are but they seem to pop up on reebonz.com quite a lot. You just have to keep your eyes open :)

I like them both. The pale gold is gorgeous and really easy to use; it functions almost like silver. Actual silver swings it more toward the rocker vibe, while the pale gold seems more versatile.

Beautiful. Love a white bag. I would not worry too much about color transfer, but even as hearty as the chèvre is, white is white and I may be concerned over the long term about yellowing or discoloration. You just never know. I don't think it would happen quickly, especially if the bag is used lightly and stored properly, but white is still white, and if used, it'll eventually do what white does best (ie get dirty)!

I'm confused. Does ME come in pale gold as well as bright yellow gold? I've only seen pretty bright yellow gold. Almost like 24k gold.

The very first season or two of the chèvre ME edge bags had the very yellow gold, like 24 karat. Next they did pale gold and sliver. The pale gold looks sliver in some lights and pale gold in others, it's almost like a "champagne." Now they've gone back to a yellower gold. Below is the original (first) the sliver (second) and the pale gold (third), and the current season (last). Hope that helps, it is all a bit confusing.
