Many thanks! OH, this is very expensive, I didn't know that the ME are so expensive! In mytheresa it costs only 1595 euros! I will see.. but thank you very much :o)

An in suede? is it a good bag the city in suede?

My opinion? Noooooooo to suede! It is beautiful when it is brand new, but the handles darken in a minute and it cannot be cleaned effectively. If the ME is what your heart is after, it is 100% worth the extra money because the ME is the most durable and worry free, in addition to being a very smart looking bag.

Of course there are people who will say go for the suede, but for my money, I would not touch it. Way way too high maintenance. One brush with a dirty wall, one splash of coffee or tea, or just the rubbing against your body, and your expensive bag looks a mess... permanently.

Oh no.. then a suede is really not good! Not for me! I'm going to look until I found a ME in silver that is not to expensive..

Be happy, that you have one!! ;)

Trying to decide between black gold or dark blue gold....anyone with experience regarding fading? I want a timeless bag that goes with everything which is why I might be leaning towards the black, but I saw the dark blue recently and was mesmerized. Decision would be made if someone attests to fading of blues- that would make me default to black. Thx!!!!

Chèvre blue hasn't been around long enough to know about fading, but I HIGHLY doubt it. I think Balenciaga has taken strides to not have fading leather anymore... of course the consequence is that heavier coating that so many bemoan. The dark blue with gold is gorgeous and classy. I don't think you can make a wrong choice, I'd just decide based on which one you love more, or are more drawn to, or would use more based on your wardrobe. I wear mostly black, so black is always my default, but if I was a neutrals/navy person I wouldn't hesitate for a minute on that blue. It's truly a beautiful and timeless combination, and I think it is a smidge less formal than the black/gold (just a SMIDGE... but I feel like navy is more versatile in terms of dressing it up or down... then again I'm not a gold person exactly because I tend towards California causal, so I only own one small bag with gold hardware).

You can't go wrong. Tough choice!

Thanks for the advice!!! I think I should go black bc I also wear a lot of black. I just noticed that there is a shiny black vs matte black on a few websites - would matte show less wear compared to shiny? Anyone seen these side by side irl? Online the shiny looks more appealing but I think matte might be more versatile. Also, is there a difference between "classic velo" and "classic velo AJ"? Both with regards to edge (see neimans website). Looks the same to me!

I was intrigued by the matte and shiny distinction, which I've never heard of, so I took a look at the neimans website. HOLY COW is it a hot mess!!!! Goodness gracious. The same color photographed differently and named differently, about four different reds, all classified as simply "rouge" or "red"... The rouge lipstick bag is labeled as "crinkled calf".... Dear Lordy, it's a good thing they offer free shipping and returns because their WYSIWYG game is WEAK. Truly how hard is it to use the manufacturers color name and specs? The Gris Fossile looks like Gris Pyrite (light/med gray) in one photo but it's named Dark Gray, while the darker photo of the same color is called simply "gray." Maddening.

Unless there is something I've missed (totally possible) they do not offer the ME In matte or shiny (did the item description say matte or shiny? Even if it did, given their disastrous labeling skills I'd be wary). It's probably just a difference in photography (evidenced by the WILD differences between their Gris Fossile photos).

The ME bags all come with shine (and mine came with a chemical stink, too, from the coating) but it dulls down a lot with use. I pulled out my ME city today to carry having been intrigued by this thread and it is now pleasantly matte. Initially it was pretty darn glossy. It has also relaxed really nicely. I have to say, when I take it out again I realize it's one of my favorites. The chèvre is soooo much more durable than the agneau, and the black/silver combo is pretty timeless. :)

You are so funny! Thanks for all the info. Yes, online shopping is so convenient but there is that annoying feeling that you never really know what you will be getting.....

Thanks for saying this! I was wondering what was going on and then thought that maybe I wasn't caught up on new terms. It's like they're going out of their way to be confusing.

I'm a Bal newbie. I stumbled upon these two and was instantly hooked. From what I've been told, they are ME Town bags from F/W '14 with light gold hw in Bordeaux and black (correct me if I'm wrong). They have the letter "B" under the zipper pull.

Is this leather all weather safe? [emoji179]

Yes, It is much more weather safe than the agneau (lambskin) leather.

I wouldn't expose either one to a downpour, of course, but as a general answer, yes, the chèvre on the ME bags is much heartier.

Getting caught in a light rain for a short period of time won't damage either kind, though, particularly on the newer bags. My daughter got caught in an absolute downpour with her agneau 2013 mini city and I freaked. But, while it doesn't look quite as "crisp" after drying out, there are no water spots or stains on the bag, and it weathered the storm (literally) quite impressively.

Thanks for answering me. I've been wanting to use this bag but it's been raining often but only lightly.

Would you be able to help me decipher the tags? I've done research but am still quite lost.
