and I think when someone passes it's better to remember the good things about them. He wasn't a perfect person but he wasn't evil IMO
His family and friends don't need to be reminded of his flaws on the Internet
I agree completely. I think we all hope to be remembered for our best moments, words, and actions when we pass, not our worst.

So sad to hear this. May he now rest in peace.

Reading the news comments people seem confused that it says he died of ketamine and that he was receiving ketamine infusion therapy at a clinic for depression but that the therapy would not have contributed to his death as the last session was a week and a half before he died. I think what happened is that they unwittingly treated an ex-addict with an addictive substance. Maybe only microdoses but enough to make him curious. Clearly he got extra doses from somewhere.

Very sad but reading the report, he was also suffering from very serious health issues that might have caused him a lot of pain and suffering. He had at least coronary artery disease, emphysema (COPD) and diabetes. I think I read he wrote in his autobiography that his colon also exploded in 2018. And add to that severe depression and substance abuse problems, even if he was clean for a long period of time.

I don't know what to think. It's very sad and while I wish he was still here, I cannot judge him for wanting to ease what was probably an excruciating pain, both psychological and physical one. That said, I have to wonder about the medical professionals treating him with ketamine. Anyone in LA would have known he was an ex addict! How is that a good idea?!

Any medical provider who provided ketamine treatment for Mathew Perry should lose their license. Ketamine therapy can be very dangerous and is contraindicated for anyone with a history of substance abuse. Ketamine initially started out as an anesthetic and it has addictive qualities when abused. The provider did not unwittingly treat the most notorious addict in LA, they negligently treated him, which lead to his abusing it and dying.

DM has the report. It's very sad to read as he clearly was very unwell.

I really have to wonder what the whole story is. He was supposedly in a good phase in life but this sounds like there's more to the story. Maybe just as simple as a relapse. Reading the article makes me think he would have been lucky to reach 55, let alone 60, even if he never relapsed.

What would cause his colon to explode? I have never heard of such a thing.

Basically opioid abuse. Opioids slow down gut activity and in extreme cases the colon just stretches and everything gets so backed up it finally makes the colon burst.

The poor guy had 14 operations to try to fix the damage. I never knew the extent of his medical issues like losing all his teeth due to the abuse problems. It's shocking what he went through. This is pretty graphic but he described the whole aftermath of the health scare too in a pretty straightforward way: [link]https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/matthew-perry-addiction-horrors-colostomy-bag-colon-exploded-181032725.html[/link]
