So far I've ordered a Charlotte Satchel in Barbie Diamond Laminato and a Penelope Midi in Persian Green.

Also thinking about an Astra Satchel, have always wanted to try that style, just not sure what leather.
I have Hera in the Barbie Diamond on order. I'm looking forward to the Barbie color so much. I also have a Soulmate Midi in Persian Green. It's such a great color.

I have an Astra hobo in vacchetta. I think the satchel would be wonderful in vacchetta.

Unfortunately, there aren't really any vacchetta colors that appeal to me.

I'm really looking forward to Barbie, too. I have been wanting another Charlotte Satchel but was trying not to order bags until Marco's news turned my plans upside down.

I'm finalizing my order with Marco and would love input from you all. I am getting one Ellen and two Grand Penelope's. I was going to add slip pockets to the GPs but now I'm second guessing that.
What are some modifications you've made to either bag that you love? Regret? Wish you would have made?

I think it’s reasonable to pay upfront. His bags are bespoke, very high quality, and cheaper than many contemporary brands.

Unfortunately, I think his delivery window (which now it’s more clear is related to his health) has been a significant issue. I waited 5 months for my last order. And, I don’t know that most people are willing to wait that long especially when they’ve prepaid.
I wasn't referring to upfe9nt payment but the whole business model of handling orders manually, not having a clear system with order changes, stock changes, multiple discounts, delayed orders etc. He needs a better model and probably tried, but not working.

A new month, and a new chapter for Marco, hopefully with better health *very* soon. I wish him and his family, and his staff, good health and happiness, and send all the hugs he’s sent to me by email back a hundredfold.

I was fairly new to MM, with my first order placed only in April 2022 (Little Minerva for the Merinos promo), though I had been reading along here for several years; I still remember djfmn’s post about the workshop visit, and how Marco, a third-generation handbag maker, is now one of only two independent such artisans left in his region, when there were nearly 200 almost 40 years ago. My heart breaks to think of everything he's had to deal with since re-opening in 2019 with the pandemic, not just professionally (work restrictions, supply chain issues, increased costs, changes in shopping habits, etc) but also personally (his health and that of at least one staff member in the workshop).

I could kick myself for being too hesitant to place an order before he closed in 2018-2019 — when I think of all the bags and leathers still on my wish list! I’m so glad that he re-opened and that I finally placed my first order. What an unparalleled, amazing opportunity to work with such a talented artisan and craftsman, and to own such stunning, custom one-of-a-kind pieces designed to my own specifications; I never dreamed I’d be able to own such creations. I told Marco after using my Little Minerva for a few months that it’s like my home and office away from home.

Working with Marco by email, and becoming friends in the process, has been such a remarkable gift. I will treasure each of the bags he’s made for me (the seven that have arrived so far, three in production, and four in my final order*), and also his friendship. He is such an incredibly talented artisan and designer, and a truly good, kind person. Thank you to Marco, for this all-too-brief adventure of mine, and also to everyone here for all your help — such a wealth of knowledge about the remarkable world of Massaccesi bags — plus community and friendship.

* The four bags in my final order are Grande Penelope Messenger in Nappa black cherry with light pink lining and gold hardware (so glad to finally get something in Nappa); Minerva Midi in Cuoio Toscano natural (if there's any left otherwise Vacchetta Lux Tan) with beige contrast stitching and brass hardware; Charlotte Satchel in Fiore black with "Marco marine blue" lining and brass hardware; and a Camera bag in Nappa blue reef which was another leather I really wanted. I've added exterior slip pockets to all of them, interior zip pockets as large and wide as possible, adjustable wider crossbody straps, and all European cut -- and European cut was also something I learned about here (also from one of djfmn's Italian trip leather education posts!) after placing my first order!
