My SA told me about this : she can order anything on H.com and I have to go to the store to have it. I have to pay before they order and if I don't like the item, I'll exchange it or have a store credit.
Why would I do this : I can order online, it comes directly to my house and, if I don't like the object, I send it back and have my money back ?

I suppose you could view purchasing via your SA as a way to build your history with that person, as well as an avenue by which to remain loyal. I’m sure your SA appreciates receiving credit for items you purchase.

I wouldn't drive one hour just to take a scarf I can have delivered to my house when I can't get my money back if I order it by my store.
I would ask my SA to order things if there wasn't this problem and I would do the trip, not because of a Birkin, but because I like my SA very much and would be very happy to make her get some commission on my purchases.

I live on the country side so FedEx does not deliver themselves, it is regular post and they always come when I´m at work and sometimes they have dropped off parcels outside the house without requiring signature. I therefore try to avoid ordering online in case something would go missing.

I asked my SA for a scarf in a particular cw, unfortunately they had not ordered that cw. She said I could order it online and have it delivered to the store if I wanted to so I did not have to deal with the hassle of home delivery. I live far from the store but she said they would keep the parcel until I could come and pick it up, I would just not be able to return it if it was after the exchange time. I think they offer this option as a curtesy to customers. Plus it brings the customer into the store, I for sure often leave with more things than I planned.

I can now conclude there are absolutely no rules or method to getting a K/B/C. I have been working with a SA for less than a year, and about three months into working with her I asked her about getting a Kelly (gold) at the boutique. She was honest and said they can't keep up with the requests and therefore if I can find one somewhere else, go ahead and purchase it. Fast forward 7 months later, I have purchased mainly non quota bags from her and only two scarves. I emailed her the other day and requested a shawl and she replied back saying she will order the shawl for me - and then, in the same email, she mentions a Kelly!! Tells me to be patient as she is waiting for my kelly to arrive!! What?? I nearly fell off my chair. I have no idea what is being delivered as I didn't mention specs again to her and I purchased a gold Kelly resale, so I am really not sure what she has in mind for me. I thanked her by email and mentioned a few colours I would like. I certainly hope she doesn't offer me a gold Kelly. My store gets very few Kellys so I have a feeling I will be offered whatever they receive, which is the impression I got. Nonetheless it is pleasant to know I turned a corner with her. I want to mention, as I started shopping at Hermes more often, my knowledge has increased, my taste has evolved, and my love of the brand is truly sincere ( I am lucky to have a mother that appreciated H scarves and has a gorgeous collection - she would never own a B or K however  ). I have grown up around Hermes items, I personally could not really invest in items until recently. I am very specific about what I want now and I think my SA truly noticed that I have a sincere interest in the brand.
Wanted to share this story as it appears to be so different from what I have read here.

Wow - congrats, I hope you love it! Wishing you all the best!!

I agreed with you. So I think It’s better not to do this unless I can carry at lease 10 drinks with me to the boutique [emoji23]

To be fair, I've carried 2-3 bubble tea/boba drinks in for SA & friends before. If it's edible and small (like under $5), I don't think it's a big deal but how it's received can reflect the store's general atmosphere. H fairy godmother (aka my best friend) has brought SA & the whole team entire pies before - although she is known for being quirky and silly, haha.

I've just posted this in the H.com thread. The worst that can happen is, you receive a defective item and H says they won't take it back because they are sure it was fine when they sent it out. :annoyed:
