Well I have been constantly in contact and have purchased consistently but question is if you ask would it happen right away? I mean I got my kelly from her in like 2 to 3 months and now I’m in the market for a Birkin

My home store is the Washington DC store and there are definitely bags offered but to those who have a history in the store. Each SA is likely fulfilling a wishlist of over 50 people or more. I would say be patient but also show that you love the brand outside of a Birkin. As I get to know my sA my love for Hermes expands and things I didn’t think I liked before I do now.

Do you want any birkin? I would inform the SA on wanting said birkin, also the “semester” or time frame you have in mind.. the specs... so you have your odds of being matched/offered when they do get it... i wouldn’t bet on getting it in same timeframe as your last bag.. unless you don’t care about color/size/hardware..

I’m not in a rush I just didn’t want to give her specs and then a month later it be available. I want a Birkin or a k25. I do care, just going to let her know. Thanks !

If your perfect bag were offered in a month, would you turn it down? If yes, then I would wait to ask for it. I'm pretty sure SAs have to 'present a case' for being given approval to offer coveted bags and if she gets approval based on 'this is the exact spec this customer if asking for" and then you turn it down, she may not be so willing to push for you again later. Just my opinion. But as long as you are up front and tell her something like "I'd love to get a xyz sometime next semester" (starts July) then I think you'd be okay.

Thanks yah, I think I should be okay if it happened in a couple months. Just feel bad because I’m buying a bag next month. Mental thing here lol

Agreed, there’s definitely a presenting your case scenario/justification to reserve it for you. Crazy! But good luck and show us when you get it :)

Hi dear TPF members! First time posting in this thread. I need to share my pain with you guys. I’m an expat, an expat’s wife to be honest since I quit my job, and after building and maintaining a great relationship with my lovely SA in my actual home store, here I am moving again. So now I have my home country store, where I also have a lovely SA, many, many miles away, my actual home store on the other side of the world and I will have to start it all over again in my new home store, which I don’t yet know and anyhow is not going to be close to me, since I’m moving to the countryside near London. Seriously, I don’t know if I can survive. I visit the store every week...:crybaby:

Pray tell about ‘presenting a case’. Is this all in addition to building a relationship thats’s already set a customer back to the tune of the cost of a Birkin or Kelly I.e tens of thousands of dollars ? Does this somewhat mean that people could build “relationships “ yet have their Birkin/Kelly appeal thrown out by the “elders”? I had no clue about this part of the process but then that’s why I am part of his lovely community - to learn more and more about Hermes and it’s non-rules rules.

From putting together details from my many conversations with my SA, my understanding is that the store manager has full discretion over which SA gets to offer which bag to which client. When a bag shipment comes in, the staff meets in the back room and goes through the inventory. If the SA sees a bag that they want for their client, they have to get the SM to agree to allow them to offer it to that client and if another SA wants the same bag, then they have to convince the SM that their own client is the most deserving. My understanding of the factors presented are basically the purchase history stuff (amount spent, which departments, loyalty to that particular store), how often you visit and make a purchase, how long it's been since your last offer, and how close to your exact request this bag is/how likely you are to actually accept the offer.

My SA confessed to me that my dream bag came in but my SA wasn't working that day so they didn't have the opportunity to fight for the bag for me. I was told that I was next on the list if the first person rejected the offer but of course they bought it. Hermes is a game of spending, building relationships, and getting lucky with timing.

It makes sense!

Many thanks for taking the time to educate me. It makes totally sense considering the fact that demand exceeds supply and there has to be a sharing formula. More so, I hope this explanation will at least address people’s concerns about building a spending profile with an SA cos that’s like earning a B/K while by the same token showing appreciation for the brand in general
