Going by the Hermes courting game - Perhaps it is. Perhaps it isn’t. I wouldn’t read too much into the SA’s gestures at this point in time just to avoid to disappointment. You can Pace yourself and only buy why you love. I say that because it’s a bit early in the semester and pacing yourself will most likely yield the same outcome of being offered a bag before the next semester. You are on her radar with god knows? 50 other clients? Yeah...it will come . Glad you found an SA you like...that’s usually a start to a great outcome

Thank you for this. Makes total sense. I’ve only been buying things on my wish list or things I love. I would ultimately love a bag and realize I may not make it to a rainbow but have a few that are magical and meant to be.

I’ve bought three new bags off of notable resellers last year. I figured since I’m no longer in a rush this year I can just take my time and use that money towards establishing a relationship.

How long did it take you to be offered a bag?

Does the gold and silver Chaine d'Ancre earrings, very small model count as fine jewelry? Or only the items with diamonds are considered so?

Thanks.
Gold is fine jewelry; silver, leather, and enamel are not.

It really all depends on your SA, your purchases, and the particular store. Some stores seem to get many more bags than others. I would definitely casually mention your dream bag whenever possible. "May I look at that blue bracelet/Twilly/Calvi please? I would love to have a medium size birkin in a beautiful blue color someday, but for now, this Twilly will cheerfully hold me over." with a smile.

In my experience, the biggest factors in bag offers are: how much you spend, how often you visit, that you make purchases nearly every time you visit, general pleasantness, and genuine knowledge/appreciation for the brand.

I would just let her know what you want after you go over the leathers and colors and styles. Sounds like she’s working with you towards a bag.

I’ll do that. I have told her that I am keen on gold hardware only and prefer 35 in Birkin. After we have sat down and looked at leathers I will certainly be able to give a wishlist. Many of the colors I love are discontinued or were seasonal. I do love the new Gris ashphalt as well at Rose Pourpre and ultimately may buy something in those colors that isn’t a B or K. I’d love to have a Jige in either color honestly. I’m seeing her tomorrow to pick up a strap I ordered. I’ll see what our conversation brings.

That’s a really good way of hinting! I’ve always wondered how to do it.

Wow thanks for letting me know leather isn’t included. I was going to get one of those croc bracelets for almost 2k for the sake of building. I guess not. I assumed everyone bought it to build their profile since you see so many people with it. Kind of like Hermes pillows. [emoji85]

Don't spend money to "build" - spend money because it's something you like, want and will use. With Hermes there are rules and no rules. I was offered my first Birkin with no spending history at all, about two months after I walked in and asked. I've since bought a lot of things I like, want and will use. More bags I wanted came too, but it was because I was genuinely interested in getting the other things I bought.

May I also add, buying very specific items obviously for yourself such as RTW in your size (gifts not included) and perhaps consistently coming back in with the bags your SA has sold you. I reckon getting tagged as a brand new bag reseller is instant write off. Deserved or not, this is how Hermes works.

Which Hermes location did you go to? I feel like once after buying sandals the guy really considered me because he asked which colors and sizes did I want? Sucks because I lost his card and forgot his name. And never went back in. Think he’s no longer there anymore :(

I encourage you not to buy anything you don't love or need "for the sake of building" a profile. I believe you posted in the SF thread that SF would be considered your "home" store. As many others posted about their experience and with my own experience as well, SF is not one of those stores that requires you to spend an X amount to get a coveted item. If you are willing to spend $2K on a croc bracelet to achieve a bag, and it sounds as if you just want a bag and no other items, I'd go the reseller route and save yourself the time and energy.

THIS!

There are no absolute rules with Hermes and building a purchase history. Consistency with a very good SA may go a long way. I bought mostly CDC and Clic H bracelet before I was offered a bag. That may have well been a coinkydinky however I Never bought fine jewelry or RTW or home goods at the time. Like most have said, Buy what you love be it coin purses , fragrances or sandals. I want to think that Hermes appreciates the vast taste and preferences of its clients from all walks of life.

5 months when I was asked what I want, 7 more for the bag to arrive. Hermes isn't a game to me though, I wasn't after a bag at all and I didn't spend strategically though I did get my bag right after I bought a very expensive pair of boots but now I think that was just a coincidence since another store "stole" the commission on them during the transfer.

I'm very enthusiastic about the Maison, I love their commitment to craft and teaching young people to build things by hand. I love the artists they support with their scarves and the techniques they employ to make their products last a lifetime. I never thought I would spend the money I do with the brand but it's the only house I buy from at that level. I'm a casual person, their products work for my lifestyle whereas Chanel is just too "fancy" for me. I buy beat up old vintage H and new from my local boutique, my store staff knows I LOVE the leather, the production techniques and that I still own all the items I've purchased. They love my enthusiasm more than they love my spending and I get great offers because they know I appreciate the things I buy. My SA/SM offered me a very rare Barenia bag because they know that I will cherish it and also that I'm not afraid of the leather :p

I agree with everyone, don't buy things you don't want and don't buy things just to get a bag offer. If you want to be offered the exact bag you want in a reasonable timeframe, it's way way cheaper to buy from a reseller. There are zero guarantees with H. If you're not in a rush, I'm still not sure you'll get a favorable outcome if you're measuring your shopping against a bag.

We've covered a lot of this in the past, it's probably worth going back a year on this thread and reading. I've written about the way offers work and also what I know about when/if a SA can offer a bag.

I wholeheartedly agree with many posters above about getting only what you like and I would also add one thing. Think about the whole look whenever you're browsing / buying. When I first met my SA I did mention I would like to get B/K/C at some point but I wasn't in a hurry. Then I looked around, tried and bought whatever I truly liked. I bought mainly scarves and maybe a pair of shoes before I was offered a Kelly, which I turned down. As I continued to browse around more, my SA got to understand my style better and would let me know when he thought some items might interest me. When my eyes genuinely light up with those items he put aside for me, bags that pair well with them would pop up out of nowhere. Now I always ask myself if something will go well with the bags I want to have whenever I shop at H. I tend to believe that's also how stores place their order each season.

Exactly my feelings about H.

Ditto here. My SA sets aside amazing pieces for me now that she knows me better.

Also, as somebody else mentioned before, rapport with an SA is extremely important. I actually work 2 blocks away from my local H store and can walk there every day for the past N years. But I did not establish my relationship there because I did not feel the rapport that I need. Luckily, we met our current SA in a different store and we have a great relationship.

I’ve tried to read back as many posts I can find. But I haven’t found the ones that you’re referring too. Maybe I’ll just check your history. Thanks [emoji173]️
