Here is one for you guys. I have a great SA. Got a SE clutch which I was told is a QB in the beginning of the year. Since then, my spend is about $25k (mostly FJ and clothing) which has been going for a K25 so I am considering myself at 2/2.5x on pre-spend for a K25 since the bag at retail is about $12k.

Question 1 - Does my math make sense?

Now my SA says I have to be patient and I should probably expect the bag towards the end of the year. I realize I may not be a VIP but my spend is not small in my opinion. I am in one of the most competitive areas in the US.

Question 2- Is waiting until closer to the end of the year vibe with how QB offers are made factoring in the special edition item I got earlier in the year?

Thank you all for helpful suggestions. I admit that I have made mistakes (even if I did not do anything unethical, etc.).

The worst scenario would be these:
- My SA/SM in home store would find this out and I will never have any QBs offered this year and in the future.
- Paris may have also been upset with me and will never offer me any QBs.

Is this the reality that I am facing, right? And then, only the time will tell what will happen to me, right?

I know I should not worry too much, but just wanted to have a reality check. TIA!
Forgive my confusion, but why all the drama? If you feel your own behaviour might have been bad enough to have generated either of the two scenarios you describe (both of which are pretty extreme), then you might want to consider changing your approach moving forwards. 🤷‍♀️

Yes, prespend for a K25 is 3:1 in many competitive areas. Plus, all clients who are around 2-3x spend and haven’t gotten a bag yet in 2024 will unfortunately be higher on the list than you who has already gotten one this year, and there are A LOT of them. Near year’s end will honestly be lucky imo without significant further spending (up to 4-5 x). Otherwise, next year would be promising.

Maybe I’m naive, but I don’t feel like you’ve said anything that you should worry about? So what if they know who you are?

My SA said some of his clients do their own research and know H and “the rules” (his words) better than he does. And he’s perfectly fine with it.
You are correct that I did not say anything negatively or do anything wrong. But, I am probably overthinking about sharing my info too much on this Forum that I may be red-flagged... But, I will be more careful not sharing my info anymore. :)

Thanks. No drama but I am overthinking about it. I will no longer sharing my info related to bags. :)

I mean, there are worse things that can happen as a result of sharing too much info on the internet that these things.

Look, it sounds like you have a bunch of great relationships and get premium service. Given that, I don’t think you have to worry about much from an Hermes perspective, unless they get upset about Paris vs NYC etc.

Given that you have received 2 QBs from Paris in 2024, a total of 3 QBs in the past 7-8 months, a special order and a Kelly 42 from Madison, other bags including one in heritage leather and you yourself say you are not a high spender or VIP, I’m genuinely curious why you think not getting anymore QBs this year is the “worst case scenario”? I would think that’s the likely case scenario but maybe it’s just me.

I don’t see any reason why an SA would lie about a promotion to “offload” a client. I would take the meeting. You’re under no obligation to work with that SA but hopefully your old SA would be recommending someone she or he thinks would be a good fit. If it doesn’t work out you can always come back and find a new one on your own.

Agree with @texas87 that your old SA is simply recommending someone to you. I don’t see why you wouldn’t take the meeting assuming you like your former SAs taste. A men’s manager told me that when she was promoted, she tried to hang onto a few clients, but she didn’t have the time for appts etc. My new SA is a recommendation. My old SA still hangs out when possible; answers texts; and checks in. It’s all good.

Two of my SAs were recently promoted to non-sales positions. Completely legit - why would you think otherwise? Hermès is famous for promoting from within - one is unlikely to get a senior store role if one has never been on the floor.

Hi All,

Thanks again for your input, I really appreciate this advice. I had no doubt about the promotion- my SA is brilliant!! They deserve it, I know how hard they work because they really try to work their sales moves on me all the time 😜

My overthinking mind simply results to some strange conclusions.. The conclusion for me this time (and once again) is not to overthink the situation!

that is a very wise position to take
I have to ask then what’s the point of these forums if people are not sharing? It’s just then piles of questions.

Obviously ppl need to be comfortable in sharing and mindful of their own privacy but why the posts from @706MadisonAv are useful is because of the transparency.

Again of course the trick to maintaining relationships is our own personal interactions with the store but it’s helpful to read others'.

I hope you @706MadisonAv will continue to share, as much or little as you like. I do appreciate your candor especially in threads where nuances are more useful

I agree and I think almost no SAs are reading tpf. We read because we obsess over Hermes. They deal with it all day, every day, they aren’t obsessing over Hermes online as well. And frankly, if SM or corporate were “watching us” online they would have pulled the bag plug on so many of the people who post on YouTube. If Tania (and frankly so many of the other YouTube posters are equally obnoxious in their own way) is still getting bags @706MadisonAv has NOTHING to worry about.

@nikotama - Thanks for your comment. What you commented is the exact reason I will no longer share my info here anymore. YMMV.
My comment was based on the 2QB/year rule for non-VIP clients. Your SA at Madison and Paris would see in their system that you bought 2 QBs this year and hence probably won’t offer anymore in 2024? Maybe I’m missing something.

Yup! Agree :) A few SAs tell me that they deal with enough craziness at the workplace that they are not gluttons for punishment in their free time. Though I’ve heard the opposite re Singapore Lol

I’m sure Hermes corporate does have a mechanism in place for looking for on line abuses like intellectual property issues or resellers, but a few enthusiastic clients aren’t really an issue. The issue of how much to share on these threads is a personal decision :)

Do bags have “serial numbers”? I thought it was just the year/artisan codes?
They do. They have stamps that specify year of production, etc.

that is a very wise position to take
Thank you. I am just learning now. :)

Thank you for your kind words. I will try to be more circumspect in my postings.

Thank you for your encouraging words. Now, I am trying to worry-less. lol

My SA in the home store told me that "2QBs/year" is not an "absolute" rule even if it is a general accepted statement. Plus, whatever happens in Paris remains in Paris. (Please also see: https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/global-hermes-profile.1065918/page-10.) My SA in the home store told me that she is working on the BBB35 for me this year (but also told me that I would only get 1 QB this year, which is this BBB35). So, I think only the time will tell.

I also believe that "YMMV" (i.e., individual circumstances) trumps any other rumors/statements (e.g., 2 QBs/year). My SA in the home store has already proved me that I was so wrong about "pre-spend," since she offered me a K42 and an HSS order w/ pretty much minimal spending earlier this year. (To me, it's really about the loyalty to the brand and the SA relationship.) I hope this helps and good luck with your shopping at Hermes. :)
