My SA tells me some stores are more cooperative than others, and he will really only order from stores where he knows he can get the stuff charge send or transferred. But he handles all that and online too (Or tries to do so lol)
Right. My sa said the same. Some stores she won’t even bother bc they never let things go. So that may be why some SA dont respond to charge send request if they know the stock is at an unfriendly store.

Yep. Apparently Waikiki is notoriously “stingy” according to my SA. (They were the store who wouldn’t transfer those cargo pants!) And even my FSH SA was looking for an item I wanted but the only one in Europe was in Italy, and he rolled his eyes and said ugh they never transfer.

I think it’s a store to store relationship thing, almost the same way the client-SA relationship matters. My store almost always gets my items from waikiki and without issue. Beverly Hills and the Florida stores, on the other hand, tend to be non starters for my SA.

Hi new to H here. Been reading pages of this thread.
I have collecting from reseller & thinking that I should buy direct from store for a long term plan
The thing is I’m not a big spender & we don’t have home store here. So I have to go abroad which I did twice to this store. last sept 22 & sept 23 ( once every 6-12 months)
My question is will it counted as pre spend if I have the ratio fullfilled in 2 year ish? Because if it won’t be counted it will be bummer :(
The SA’s been lovely though got herbag 31 my first time walk in (but this not counted as presped right?)
Thank you!

It depends on which store/country but it would be best if you could set up a long distance relationship with one of these stores and make remote purchases throughout the year from abroad. Otherwise it is still probably possible if you stic to one SA and let them know when you are traveling there ahead of time etc, but it would likely be a lot longer between bags (say, maybe one every 3-4 visits/years).

Agree with this 100%. My SA can get stuff from BH, no problem, but I recall him saying not to bother if things are in Florida (not sure if he was referring to Palm Beach or Orlando. I’m kind of getting this mental issue of horse trading items through an underground network of friendly intermediary city SAs throughout the US. . .

Yes, for now I think I will be fine with waiting longer . Thank you for the insightful answer

Me too; when my SA looks something up and finds it’s from store A, there’s often a comment regarding whether the process will go smoothly, be difficult, or even never happen. Additionally, my clear sense at my boutique is that these interactions happen at the SM level, it’s not like my SA calls her counterpart at another boutique and they tee up the exchange. If for whatever reason, generally having nothing to do with me, the SM’s have an issue, things may not go my way. My strategy is always to be flexible and easygoing; after all, I’m not shopping at H for necessities. :P

It depends on what other boutique merchandise you would like from the boutique and whether you find an SA that you click with enough to make the effort. If you do not love boutique merchandise, reseller bags, whose prices are softening, will be cheaper and faster. In the US, everything theoretically counts, but whether that will help you to a QB in a competitive maison or flagship environment is debatable. In Europe, there may not be a prespend, but being local matters most ; and, in Asia, it seems like prespend is weighted heavily towards RTW, fine jewelry, and watches. I personally don’t bother to count any leather or popular category (first floor merchandise) in my rough prespend tally. Others may have different opinions based on their personal experiences.

Hi all! Just looking for some advice to make sure I wouldn't be doing anything disrespectful!

I'm very new to the Hermes game but have shopped a handful of times with one SA. I actually was able to get a cargo Picotin 18 on one of my first visits as this SA was very nice, and offered brought out a few bags to show me as I was browsing the shoe section! However, since then, they haven't asked at all if I have a wishlist of any items, not even non-bags. Is this the norm? I have continued to make a few purchases (scarf, twillies, bag charms, shoes) since then. I am also shopping at the apparently very competitive Beverly Hills location, if that affects anything.

I am in no rush to get a QB, but is it okay to just let my SA know of the non-quota bags I'm interested in? I don't want to be presumptuous in case this is some sort of taboo.

Thanks in advance! <3

It’s always ok to let your SA know which items you are looking for. However, if they aren’t asking then it’s likely that they won’t be forthcoming with fulfilling any of those asks in the near term. For newer clients, items tend to be offered on an impromptu basis during shopping, rather than a holding of a bag with a phone call to come pick it up that a long term client might be accustomed to. My suggestion is to wait until the next time you are in store actively shopping and your SA asks some kind of wrap up question “is that everything for today?” or “is there anything else you’d like to look at?” And then at that point politely ask “are there any Lindy 26s available today? I’d love one in a neutral color.” and let the conversation naturally flow from there.

Thank you everyone for their insights in this thread.

I've been contemplating back and forth whether I should pull the plug for a new SA or just come to terms that it is what it is with my current SA.

This is my second SA since I started shopping at my local boutique back in late 2019, my first SA was extremely lovely and I was able to get an offer of a mini evelyn (which I declined, since i didn't want black) after buying 2 slgs from them and a herbag within 2 months, both items I mentioned I was interested in. Unfortunately, they left the company shortly after that...

A few months into COVID, I was randomly assigned to my current SA after finding out my 1st SA left upon phone call appointment, this SA is friendly in person, but it also feels like they are eager to show me out the door after my purchases.

I would only reach out via email about specific items (including item reference numbers) I want to purchase every few weeks or a month or two depending on the items (I'm not a high spender, so I mainly focus on scarves, shoes, slgs), and they would reply to set up appointments. But then they never seem to remember at the appointment what I came in for, most of the time, they will ask "what are you here to look at?" Also they have always asked me to email them the specs of bags (non-quotas) I am looking for when I bring it up in person at the store...which out of 3 bags (picotin 18, mini evelyn, jige elan) I have only received one of these items from them in the past 3 years on random when I asked them if they had any on the spot at an existing appointment for another item.

I'm just not sure what to do with this "relationship" I have with Hermes atm.

Honestly, I was in the same boat with the prior SA. She was nice, and got me things after I basically "begged" for them...but the relationship was disconnected. I felt like a transaction.

So I just basically shot straight with here, told her she wasn't meeting my expectations and that I wanted to go with someone else. My new SA is great, almost night and day from her. I get thought of and sent things, and I have items put to the side for me to peruse when I go in the store.

I know everyone isn't a no-nonsense person like me, but I would encourage you to speak up if you don't like the "relationship".
