Will it affect my relationship with my SA and getting a quota bag if I visit another Hermes store while on vacation and end up buying a small item from another SA? If it will, do you just avoid visiting an Hermes store when you visit a city that has one? Thanks!
I think some SM and SA are super sensitive about purchasing from anywhere but them even if it’s A small item like a calvi, they check the system time to time (especially when they are looking to give you a quota bag) to see what and where you have purchased items from. I wouldn’t risk it over a small item.

Not every store carries the same exact items. I see no problem in purchasing small items in another store from time to time. I have a great relationship with my SA. She knows that I shop almost exclusively with her but if there is a pair of shoes or something like that in another store that I visit out of state she has encouraged me to buy it given that they might not have ordered it for their store and may not be able to get it. Don’t get bogged down in the small stuff. My loyalty is to my SA and she knows that. If she were to check my profile and see a pair of shoes and some lip oils bought out of state I don’t think that’s going to change her thinking towards me or hurt our relationship.

I think we’ve covered this recently but there’s no one size fits all answer to this question. Some can shop at other boutiques and have it be inconsequential, some feel otherwise. If your main concern is getting a QB, best to just shop at your home boutique only.

You can also just bring it up with your SA and see what they say.

Just want to share that the Hermes CEO said in the 2022 financial results webcast that the brand is allocating bags to new customers to combat resellers and to acquire new customers.
Wow. I saw him say they want to attract new customers but not that they would allocate to new to partly combat resellers. Do you remember where he said that in the broadcast?

He said in the q&a in reply to an analyst from bnp pariahs. He was saying that bags are a great way to attract new customers. They want to sell (bags) to genuine customers. Problem at the stores is that people come back to wanna resell the bags. So, I interpreted it that he wanna sell to new customers and also avoid those who come back to get bags for reselling. He also said that the bags are a marvelous product and he wants as many people to enjoy them as possible. Something like that. It was in this context that I put it together….which of course, I could be completely wrong.

Did you mean bnp paribas fortis  But then again pariahs seems very appropriate
Anyway it seems much in line what @periogirl28 earlier said about the longtime customers not treated well. No?

Aren’t retail/luxury businesses always trying to attract new clients? Or is it because it’s H they can’t do this lol. I mean people move on to other brands, stop buying, pass away, move away (especially in this climate where we have a large wfh population annd people can and do live wherever) etc. However, I do not take that to mean they will not value their previous client relationships.

Allocating (I’m sure *some* not all bags) to new clients to combat resellers makes sense. If potential new clients that say things like “I will just go to a reseller because I don’t want to play the game” are able to get bags from the store, mission accomplished, right?

A previous client will still get SO offers, top of the line choices before a new client, I’d imagine. The SA/SM relationship also still matters. We see these things around this forum all day.

I understood what he said differently but it was all through translation and sometimes what was actually said can get lost. I didn’t hear anything earth shattering. They like to attract new clients through bag offers. Reselling of bags is a concern. Jewelry makes up a significant part of their business. Tourism may still attract business to Paris and shopping locally is important.

It’s no secret that Hermes has been giving quota bags and SO allotments lately to new customers and influencers to attract newer younger customers to the brand. It’s almost in hopes of getting them addicted by enticing them with easily obtaining bag in the beginning. Then having to work three times as hard for the next one. My SA specifically told me that this is the direction of the brand.

Hopefully Hermes corporate will not forget about their long time faithful customers whom genuinely love the brand, after all we need our fix too!

I have noticed this direction for at least 3 years already IMO. While some of these new clients will have the spending power, but will all of them have the spending power as some of the original clients? That I don't know.
I think it's creating a somewhat unhealthy competition among the new & old clients with now an insanely high prespend ratio for many old clients. Kinda feel like a turn-off for me personally.
And honestly, while it's harder to get new QB and wait-time is longer, I feel that H SA is now even contacting their old clients more often, just so to help them buy some inventory (RTW, fine jewelry, etc.) . So, I am not so sure if it's true that many new clients are really up there in terms of spending power...

Maybe you would like to share what country you are referring to?

The Ceo himself said that in the financial webcast that H is doing very well in countries where there is a huge middle class although the middle class may not buy the most expensive things.

At the top of my head, I am thinking H is doing very well in Asia (especially China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, etc.) and the US. I’m not sure about the US but rtw and fine jewellery….customers need SA to fight for them to be able to get their desired pieces in Asia.
