Sounded like SA 2 was just helping your SA through the process, but when you asked for SA 2 ‘s contact, SA 2 Simply responded politely? At any rate, you choose who you want going forward, and they will work it out. They do want you to be happy

i don’t need to be friends with my SAs, but I do want them to know what I like asap, and show me stuff accordingly and for the exchange to be pleasant and amiable. I prefer RTW and accessories to be waiting in the fitting room, as I get overwhelmed browsing the floor.

I always send a short sentence email or text thanking the SA for their curated choices for me (Not just with H SAs but with every premier RTW SA). If they showed me how to style a dress or persuaded me into RTW that I end up adoring, I sometimes send a pic. I do get a short response or positive emoticon back which is all I need. I do not bother them with a long list or a QB inquiry via email or text. JMO
@880 Totally agree. I also think that it’s important to go with your gut. After reading these threads, I instinctively did the opposite of the recommendations (oops) because it just felt right. I didn’t buy ‘one small item’, but spent over $8k upon meeting her for the 1st time because it just felt right - my SA hustled, was generous with her time and was very responsive. (Note: $8k is a lot for me).
Obviously it’s nice to find an SA that you ‘click’ with, but my view is having a strong professional relationship is that much more important. Your SA should know your preferences, be your advocate in coveted items (QB, other hard to get items) and make the purchasing process easier. That to me is the benchmark rather than do I want her / him as a friend.

Wanted to share my experience as a walk in at the Sydney store today. Came in and asked a male SA to show me the silkin wallet and a bolide. He was very curt and inattentive the whole time - put the wallets on the counter and told me there were no bags, and also started looking at his phone. He didn't even bother introducing the product to me and when I asked him questions about the product, answered with less than 5 words.

I find it so hard to bring myself to buy anything, let alone try to build a relationship with the SA when I get can better service buying McDonalds lol. Has anyone else experienced this? Do you have to drop $$$ for SAs to start to treat you cordially?

No you don’t. That’s horrendous, and he doesn’t deserve your hard earned money. I would never buy anything from someone who treated me that way. The place where I’ve always gotten terrible service ( except for an invitation from corporate to buy furniture) is LV. I’ve actually had to say politely , excuse me, if you are too busy to help me, I can find a manager. That has elicited an apology and some manners.

I've experienced it and do not spend money with them. There are good SAs out there. Heck, he may be a good SA normally, but having an off day and not able to take the time off. I wouldn't take it personally, but I will never spend money simply to be acknowledged. I want to work with the SA who's going to be courteous from the start, especially if I'm planning/expected to build a relationship with them.

Totally relate. I have my regular SA at my local store and they don’t have the shoes I want. So as I was strolling at another mall, I decided to stop by another store to inquire if the guy had the shoes. Wow …. I don’t know if that specific SA has many customers, but I wonder if they got the same treatment as I did. He was dismissive and looking at his phone all the time as well. That made me appreciate my SA even more!!! There was another SA in my home store who helped a few weeks ago just to try on shoes since my regular SA had a day off, and he was WONDERFUL!!! I wasn’t buying from him since he thought it was better to buy from my SA, but he helped me for 1 hour plus, and even put things on hold so I could purchase from my SA on the following day. We talked and laughed and he was one of the most courteous SA I ever worked with. So when I bump into a sales associate who are checked out, I just head for the door. Don’t need that. Nope, thank you.

I also can relate to this kind of experience. The SA looked up and down on me and my DH when we asked if they have jacket in stock. Didn’t bother to check the system. I posted about this before. It left such a bad taste for me and every time when we go into the store to check out inventory, we avoid this particular SA at all cost. I’m grateful for my SA and wouldn’t trade her for anything.

I've written about this kind of experience recently. Fortunately, I live in a city with multiple H stores so I shop at a store that's more inconvenient but where the SAs are wonderful.

U don’t.

In fact, when I was looking for an SA in Q2 2021, I went into the shops so many times to ask for a picotin 18. All SAs were nice and polite but I went with the one who delivered the bag.

Look how despicable this is …. I mentioned that I stopped by a store yesterday to look for some shoes and the SA had the courage to say right at my face that they were sold out. Today, I called the store and another SA helped me and she had the shoes I wanted in my size and the other one she didn’t have in store but was able to order. What in the world????? This SA relationship with H is a freaking mess, honestly. Are they hiding inventory?

Yes. That’s why I never bother to browse at the store.

it really depends whether the SA wants to sell to you or to help u find the stock.

At a major flagship, late in the day, there were no RTW pieces in my size. First thing the next morning, some suddenly appeared. The SA had to go physically hunt them down (it wasn’t readily apparent on their electronic systems)

its Hermes. Who knows lol

It is really difficult to explain how stock can miraculously appear but early on when I started going to Paris regularly I didn't think to ask for items in advance. At one visit I met my SA and asked only for a very specific bag, Argile B30 GHW, in the morning and he said to me to please come back after lunch and we meet again. And he had that exact bag waiting. I do not know if it was expected to arrive from the ateliers, or it was on hold for someone who decided against it. My RTW SA at FSH is also able to find all the RTW I request in my size with some prior notice. So they do have a range of inventory to pull and transfer. All my requests are now emailed when I arrange appointments and that gives them time to prepare instead of scrambling during my time in Paris. I think this really reduces the time I take with my SAs and allows them to see their other clients without them waiting too much.

I had an experience where I wanted a wallet and by chance saw someone returned to the store. I went to the same store on the same day and was told no stock for it.

Yet another time when someone asked me to check stock for SLGs at the store, as she was told no stock. I was shown a whole drawer full of them.
