I think there are many ways to show appreciation.

recently, my SA helped to bring a boat load of porcelain items out from the back room for me to choose as wedding gift for a friend. I bought 2 PCs and shipped it to her in another country. She was so delighted upon receiving that she texted me how happy she was. So I shared her texts with my SA and thanked her for her help. My appreciation was well received, I guess. :)

What do you do when your store is low in stock? I know Hermēs stores almost everywhere have been low in stock for a lot of things for some time, due to the disruptions in productivity that were affected by the pandemic.

I had a small list of some items, and my SA said they just didn't have it. She mentioned though, that I could text her what I wanted and she would just have it shipped home or to the store. Would it be faux pas to just open the items in store when I arrive for pick-up? I have little faith sometimes with luxury shopping online and have been burned before.

Also, is what my SA mentioned about shipping directly to me/ or the store different from me just shopping online? I hope she/ my home store would get credit for helping me source my items. If my SA/ store get credit, this would still be a part of my purchase history with them, right?

I am not sure what you mean by that. To share my experience, my store is very small so I often go to the store, let the SA order online and get the item delivered to the store. I open them in the store to try (eg. shoes) and if they do not fit, my SA will arrange for size change (provided the size is available). That’s why I choose to get the items delivered to the store

I guess I'm just overthinking that it'd look bad to inspect the items?

With some other brands, I was disappointed with the quality of items I received when shopping online.

Nah…. At home or in store, we would refuse a defective item, right? It makes sense to inspect in store. In fact, better as the SA is right there to verify and arrange for exchange or return. HTH!

I’d 100% recommend opening the packages and inspecting the items in store. Not only to check for defects but also to check that you’re actually getting the right items at all. Twice I’ve checked the parcels with the SA in store and found out that the online store had sent completely random items instead of what I’d ordered :whut:

I usually have my packages delivered to my store and my SA encourages me to open them and model/try them on. That usually leads to buying even more stuff while I'm there. Hmmm, good sales tactics...

My SA has ordered several things for me from other stores and has happily opened everything for inspection at the store with me before I take it home. I would highly recommend in-store pickup vs. ordering to your house, unless you live far away. Goodbye, stress!

I started my H journey in '19, but took a break during the pandemic and shopping was the last thing on my mind. At the time, I also didn't feel comfortable going to the stores, and definitely did not like the idea of having H shipped home.

My previous purchases have always been in-store, and stock wasn't too low either that I could pick up trinkets here and there. The whole 'ship to store' process is new to me! As long as my SA gets credit/ my history gets credit from the store as well, I'm happy!

Thank you everyone for their input and advice! I feel like I'm starting from square one all over again!

I started my H journey from August 2021, and my SA joined the Hermes from August 2021 as well. So both of us are new to Hermes. Some people said I'm lucky to meed a new SA, and I got a Picotin 22 and mini Constance till today. Recently she begin to (suggest) push me purchased RTW. Hermes RTW not fit me at all because of my size. I would like to score a Birkin early next year, should I purchase RTW or just ignore her recommendation? I know people always suggest purchase what you like, but I feel this is a very competitive year because of inflation and limited stock. Some resellers willing to spend thousands and thousands dollars on RTW, and make this game even harder. Some people said Hermes willing to offer the handbag to the people who truly love the brand, and I don't think this is the case. My feeling is the brand only offer the bag to people who willing to spend money on RTW, jewerly, and watch unless you are super lucky......

I only buy what I like because that's what makes me happy. I do buy RTW but didn't get any jewelry. My journey with H started this year and I did score my first quota bag. If you are not into their RTW, perhaps check their jewelry or home items.

If you’re going to burn your money on things you will never use, you might as well skip it and just buy the bag from a reseller to at least get what you want right away. There’s no rule about what you need to buy to be considered so just buy what you like and will use and the bag offers will eventually follow.

Don’t feel pushed to buy RTW if you don’t want to. If you are buying based on what you are pressured to buy, you won’t feel good about your SA relationship or your shopping experience. Only buy what you love. If you do want to buy more things then maybe ask for suggestions from other categories or explore with her what you already know you like.

It is very competitive this year, but I would not buy something you aren't going to use/wear on the off chance that it might help you get a bag offer. It will just result in your SA pushing more of the same unwanted items on you. Let her know that RTW is not your thing, but is there another area that you could explore instead? You can get bag offers (including SO) without spending in every area of the store and without buying everything that your SA recommends. Best to let her know your tastes clearly and early on... it makes for better relationship in the long run.
