General question to the thread, is there even any recognition or way to maintain a relationship buying online only? I tend to buy a significant amount more online and always have hit or miss with SAs - so I would prefer to shift more qnd more online.
it's an SA problem then... It does seem counterproductive to find an item online and then have to text the SA and wait for them to get it and send it to you. Like @momoc said, if you're not trying to get a "quota bag" or other difficult to get items, then it doesn't matter. But if you are interested in B/K/C I'd find an SA you get along with and that is responsive...

i agree with that! but also ask your SA's preference... my SA knows if certain items are Hard to come by for her to order, then she will just tell me to buy it online. But of course, those items is VERY little spend compare to my spend with her.

Not sure if this is the correct thread to ask about this, but here we go…
I’ve been buying at my local store for the past six months or so and my SA has been great. I was never pushed to buy anything and I have already got two quota bags this year (a B30 and a K25, both in neutral colors).
I am moving to the Bay Area at the end of this year, and because of the reputations of Hermès store there and my already great relationship with my current SA, I do want to continue buying with my current SA…
Has anyone been living in a state and buying remotely from another store? How is the experience doing this long term? Is the store able to ship most items through phone order? I’ve learned today that they cannot order H.com items for me without me paying in store so I’m a little worried whether my future purchases will be limited choices after I moved…
Should I consider getting to know a new SA when I move to the Bay Area…?

TBH I'm not sure why SF has such a negative reputation on TPF...I know/know-of several happy customers and many of them are with other SAs. I'd definitely encourage you to build a relationship at whatever store is most local to you. SF is a lovely store: the SAs and SM are friendly, it's a big flagship, their tailor is AMAZING, and they have a WONDERFUL in-house Master Craftsman who is the one who handles all the West-of-the-Mississippi leather repairs.
The most local to me will probably be PA store which has a terrible rep…
If I do go “local” I will definitely consider SF over PA from what I’ve heard :p.
Good to hear you’ve had such an amazing experience!

My SA is in another state and I have been purchasing remotely with her for almost a year. We met in person initially and now I just text her with items I am considering and she does the searching and lets me know when she’s found them. Only one occasion did she tell me to buy online as this was the only one in stock in the company. I’m not interested in a B/K/C at this time but she did tell me to let her know. I would stay with your current SA

Thank you so much for sharing this!
Were you able to make purchases remotely for items that were not in stock at your SA’s store but in stock at other stores in the U.S.? I’ve done charge sends when I was in store before, not sure if this could be done remotely.

I've been purchasing out of state for over a year now (my state doesn't have an Hermes store, this one is the closest). I buy things regularly, at least once a month. My husband and I are likely moving to upstate NY in about 18-24 months but my plan is to continue shopping with my current SA. It helps that I love the city where the boutique is and I will likely travel to shop there in person a few times a year, apart from having items shipped to me. From what I've seen on the forum, it's not a great idea to have two SAs unless you're spending a lot in both boutiques... I've seen a lot of people loving SF boutique, so maybe it's worth checking out? Otherwise, stick with the person you love shopping with already!

Thank you for sharing! Do you feel like you had trouble purchasing anything when you can’t go in person?
I do want to stick with my current SA if purchasing remotely is not a problem (and I’m willing to travel if bags can’t be shipped, but not for regular purchases). I do buy from all categories so I’m particularly worried about things like ring sizes/RTW sizes, etc…

Not at all. I just text my SA things I'm interested in, and I've never had issues with shipment. I buy RTW, scarves, homeware, shoes. I do like shopping in person when I can (about 4x a year), and I try to get most of my wishlist items during those in-store visits. I probably won't be able to do it as frequently after I move, but I don't expect that to be an issue.
I would talk to your SA about the move. If you're an established client, the store manager may not even have a problem shipping a quota bag (which is what happened in my case - I couldn't travel due to my job, and my Birkin just arrived at my doorstep ;) )

This is so great to hear! Thank you so much for sharing!
Yeah I was under the impression that items and quota bags should be no problem to be shipped to me since I’ve already bought a decent amount at the store. I was just a little worried about how purchasing remotely will look like for things such as RTW, etc.
I will definitely stick with my SA then :p I honestly couldn’t imagine having a better SA with my experiences this past half year.
I do love shopping in person so will be a little sad after I move. I do love living in this city but there’s not that much to do here and I don’t envision myself traveling back very often after I leave…

My SA will frequently remind me that if I don't like something when it arrives because of a fit or whatever, I can always send it back for credit. It sounds like your SA is lovely, so it probably won't be a problem if you have to exchange a RTW piece. I hate doing it to be honest, and I usually save buying clothes for in-person shopping, but you probably know your size very well for Hermes pieces.

Today my lovely SA and I had an open heart conversation, where I could pretty much ask her anything about quota bags.
I met her 3 years ago and she got me my first quota bag only 1 month after we met with quite a small purchase history. We really have a cool, friendly and super-easy relationship. She has always been really open on how to get a bag. She never pushes me to buy anything I'm not 100% sure about.

Of course I asked her about quota bags and she told me that for my boutique, as a local customer (not sure if applicable to the whole country): it's 2 quota bags per year per customer, however this rule does not apply if waiting to receive a Special Order.
I am waiting for a SO to come in a few months.. so she told me that after that I will be able to get a new bag.

We also discussed about the wish list and we updated it with my preferences. Wishlist can have 1 B/K/C bag with a choice of 3 different colors. Not sure about the hardware but I specified Rose Gold, Gold and Palladium depending of the color.

I know other SA's I met in other boutiques in my country won't be as open as my SA. They would be vague or worse, they would lie, which I can't stand.
