I wondered about Hawaii. I hear so many first time customers getting lucky for a quota bag but wasn't sure if they had preexisting H relationships.
The only things I would consider getting elsewhere would be items my SA has indicated are not readily available for her to order, the Pegasus Herbag would be perfect example. Or a Kelly pochette.
In fact, we're headed to Hawaii later this year. I get the sense that perhaps if one purchases many other items and then asks about a quota bag, chances night be higher, certainly their stock supply should be good. But it feels like a gamble and I don't want to spend too much outside my home store. Also don't want Hawaii trip to be about shopping but as we appear to be walking distance from at least one store, how can I NOT go in? Hence my dilemma...

Yes. I want a fairly sure thing before I commit to a lot of spend outside my home store.

I’ve heard great things about shopping in Hawaii! It sounds like serendipity should guide you, like if you happen to be passing by :D

So in my experience, if you have intention of purchasing more than just a quota bag, if they have supply they will gladly offer. Like I plan on purchasing some a Pegasus herbag (which they often receive) and some silks that don’t make their way easily to NYC, and a few shoes because there is never my size here. And my SA here is aware that I’ll be shopping there and even offered to ahve things transferred there if there something here that’s comes in that’s on my list. So in short, I think it depends on your relationship with your SA and SM. I’m super transparent about my shopping intentions and always ask my SA first. If he’s not able to acquire it for me, I let him know I’m going to ask my other SA. And he’s totally cool with it. I’ve even shopped at my home store with another SA when he wasn’t available and asked if he would be ok with that and he says yea definitely because things with Covid are so insane and appts are so hard to book now that the weather is better. He understands that I don’t necessarily have time to wait for him to have a free slot when I can come shop especially cuz I have a little one and my shopping times are so limited.

I'm not sure if this question was asked somewhere else but anyone knows if SA get credits for items transferred from other stores? I asked my SA to transfer a piece of fine jewelry for me, and she didn't seem to be happy about it, and didn't ask me to pay upfront either. So I'm not sure if I will secure the item or they will sell it to anyone walking in. She tried to get me buy a different item in her store bur I didn't like the thing she recommended that much..

From what I have read, your SA gets credit but the store that transfers the item gets credit instead of your home store. They likely didn't ask for payment because it was a transfer request and the store can possibly refuse to transfer. I have not had to deal with that myself, usually if I want something then my SA orders directly from the company and then we wait for it to come in.

Who gets the credit for a purchase should not be of any concern to a customer.

Well, it mattered to me as I could have got it at a different location with a cheaper price, but I did not as I liked my SA and I wanted her to get commissions. There is no point getting it from her if she does not get the credits. I would also feel bad if I made her go through all the complex processes to get the item for me without getting commission for it.

I know enough about this to be dangerous but it sounds to me in this particular case the piece that you wanted, the store that had it was likely not willing to do a 1 for 1 trade to allow for that item to be transferred to your store's inventory, then for your SA to sell it to you that way. Some stores will not be receptive to trade/transfer if they know they can sell the item to their clientele with no issue or if it is a high demand item.

I have had situations where I have purchased fine jewelry, my store conducted a worldwide search and the item was found, but transferred to my store's inventory where my SA then sold it to me. I am assuming in this case they sent a similar piece of jewelry to this other store in return. I have also had situations where they find the item I want (fine jewelry or no) and my SA states that the store does not want to transfer but they'll allow me to buy it from them and they'll ship it to me. I've found this happens the most often with the Madison store here in the USA in my experience. Unless it's an item I would literally die without, I usually wait for my SA to source something similar. This happened with a scarf I wanted earlier this season, and I opted to just wait a bit longer because shipments were delayed but my store had ordered it. It took a couple of extra months, but I got it.

The only other thing I could think of is if you are a newer client at your store, your store might could have a policy to not initiate store-to-store transfers until you are a bit more tenured. I know that mine would not transfer anything for me until after I got my first quota bag and generally encouraged me to buy out of their store inventory. It is a lot of work for them to do the store transfer and can put your SA in a tough spot if you back out of purchasing the item for any reason.

Hi, will you switch SA if you are already near your pre-spend, but your SA just don't seem to have your best interests at heart? My SA was quite good until when she was introducing me to RTW and I declined to buy on the spot as I wanted to mull over the designs first (I usually check out the designs and prices before I decide what to buy). I now know hermes stock is in short supply sometimes and it's not the wisest thing to do. I notice since then she doesnt respond to my wa if I request to try some RTW and she wasnt that happy when I asked her the price of 1 item at the store during my last visit. She also didnt invite me to the recent Mother's day event at the store whom I heard some customers are invited to. I may be too sensitive but it's making me uncomfortable as I'm not sure how helpful will she be, when it comes to getting bags on my wishlist.

It does sound like it did have some impact, perhaps she had you in the "will buy RTW" category and you fell short of that expectation?

When I picked up my first quota bag my SA also brought out a piece of fine jewelry I'd tried on previously and seemed to expect I'd buy it as well. I didn't because it wasn't in my plans to spend that much on the day and all I could think about was the first bag offer.

Yes she seemed disappointed. But I ended up buying the piece of jewelry a few weeks later because I really love it and had had the time to think about it. And now my SA knows I'm a regular spender, pre- and post-quota bag offer, but not a pushover and that's actually a healthier relationship!

So if I were you, and planning to buy RTW, just pick a piece you like next time and see if your SA's behaviour changes...

While it’s very kind of you to worry that your SA has been inconvenienced by the transfer process, it’s (an annoying) part of her job. And if she did the transfer anyway, then don’t worry. She probably was just thinking “ugh, transfer” in the same way as most of us go “ugh, time to file taxes”.

As for the commission, check your receipt. If it’s with your store and her ID, then yes, she got credit. There may be some behind-the-scenes “store who gets credit” wizardry (probably influencing what items each store selects in their assortment for further seasons), but it shouldn’t affect your peace of mind OR your customer profile.

Great post here! I was in similar situation that there were RTW and fine jewelry i was interested in… my SA has no problem initiating the transfer but one got denied bc the other store had a RTW event and can’t transfer… 2nd store just didn’t answer the request

It is much easier to buy current stock in your boutique or wait for ur order

Hello, just wondering how long it generally takes to receive the items once the SA tells you they have “ordered” it. I requested an item which the SA managed to “order” for me and I received it the next week however my other items have been “ordered” and I have not heard anything since.
Is it very hard work for an SA to “order” something for me and should I just try to buy whatever is in the store? I don’t want to be an annoying client who always wants stuff that isn’t available.

If the SA said it was ordered for you, she could mean the store has it on order and your name is put on the list for it. Anyway, when my SA suggests that she order something for me, I just wait, assured that I will get a call or email when it comes in. As has been said many times here, the stores don't know what will come in each shipment they get and can't predict a timeframe. Patience.
