I didn’t ask for it as didn’t think I was good enough :biggrin:but my SA is also my friend (though keeping things separate and being professional) and knew I love the brand + I’m one of high spenders here and voila, got invited around 8 months from first purchase. A friend of mine however was actively seeking the SO opportunity (bordering with stalking SA and SM) and think due to som issues with the order, SM decided to invite her as well.

Hello everyone, hoping to get some perspective. Just started my hermes journey recently and I am in a pretty competitive area. I wonder if I am spending too much too fast? So far I have bought 2 shoes and fine jewellery which total to 5 digits. Also ordered some plates which the SA is ordering for me. I know for some people this is not a lot however for me this is not insignificant. I have the SA contact details and they have been very nice but I am wondering if I am setting myself up to be expected to always drop these amounts regularly to get offered a bag?
I am now reading other threads and people always say to start slow buying twillies and scarves but I feel like I just went straightaway to those high commission items. Financially I am comfortable and can afford to buy the bags but can definitely not be considered someone who can drop $500k per year.
Am I being paranoid over nothing? My overall hermes spend would be over 1:1 at this point however I did start in 2016.
thanks for reading

In retail, there are customers who spend regularly and steadily, and customers who basically come in and shop once-or-twice a year and make overall larger purchases at those times. I absolutely wouldn't worry about your situation...both types of customers are equally as appreciated in the retail world. The steady customers bring in a nice steady income, and the splurge customers bring in a nice little fat bonus check here and there.

I have an online column for a popular business magazine. I am thinking about writing an article about what entrepreneurs can learn from H. This is less about "the game" and more about craftsmanship, relationship-building, exclusivity, etc. Everything around Hermes is so hush hush in store, would doing something like this be looked down upon/would I never get a B or K again? I'm a loyal customer and would never write anything distasteful, I just think this would be a great piece for my business column and my readers.

I have been offered 3 SO’s, all of which I have rejected. I buy RTW, fine jewelry, and blankets from my home store in Beverly Hills, Rodeo Dr. I have had the same SA for 7 years and my typical spend is in the mid five figures each time I visit. I only shop 4 to 5 times a year, when invited. I never initiate contact with my SA or have had a wishlist.

Other newspapers and magazines have done similar articles, so I wouldn't worry. Unless you're revealing trade secrets, being derogatory, naming specific individuals who aren't authorized spokespeople or encouraging practices Hermès frowns upon such as reselling, there's no reason why you'd be barred from purchasing anything.

I would love to read it once you're done!

Thank you! I have 3 bags in mind and 2 of them are my ultimate holy grails. Unfortunately they are pretty in demand so wondering if I should give the SA all three as I would still be happy with the third choice too.
I can’t believe I’m thinking about this so much. The H game is definitely not for the faint hearted!
So appreciate you asking all these questions! While I purchased my first H bag (a blue vibrato Herbag) in Paris back in 2003 or 2004, I have only picked up a few shawls and silks in the interim. I have only recently begun to foster a relationship with my SA beginning with the purchase of twillys for my 'new to me' gently loved B35. I have purchased a few other items and we have discussed bags casually but I have not yet mentioned my fantasy bag. She did offer me an Evelyne TPM with PHW that I had to turn down because I can't do silver. Did I screw it up?

You can never go wrong turning down an item you wouldn’t wear, or don’t love, especially at that price point!

And if you were clear about why you are turning it down, in regards to your preference for GHW, your SA probably just made a note of that.

I understand that buying a handbag does not count towards the spend for consideration for a quote bag. But do SAs earn a commission on these bags? Just wondering if I should buy these non-quota bags (lindy, evelyn etc) from my SA (so that she can earn a commission) or if I should just purchase them wherever and whenever I find them. I'm not in urgent need of any bag, so the alternative is for me to wait for my SA to find the bag I like, and practically I could wait forever I don't mind.

What do others do?

My SA told me that the only bags they do not receive commission on are the B and K. I am in the US so I am not sure if that varies by region. He said he gets commission for all other bags including the Constance.
