I chose to qualify the word 'relationship' with 'working', so it is only fair that you asked me to explain what I meant by doing so.
Before writing a hasty response I chose to sleep on it hoping to be concise.
The answer has two equally important aspects:
1) 'working' for the purpose of business to be transacted (in contrast to social)
2) 'working' meaning effective

In black and white they appear cold and impersonal, but they are bottom lines.
They have nothing to do with the demeanour of either a customer or a SA, which I hope would always be mutually friendly, cheerful and respectful.
You are a customer; an SA is employed to source and sell you items you wish to buy (in line with the policies of the shop).
However friendly an SA might be towards you in the shop, if you do not get what you want, the business relationship is not 'working' for you.

That is the distinction I wanted to make.
You do not have to look at very much on this forum to read about 'lovely' SAs who have fallen short of what was expected
for one reason or another leaving clients feeling distraught or betrayed because the customer had looked upon the relationship as one of friendship rather than a working partnership.
TY for explaining this to me! I love what you wrote!

Thanks for explaining this to me and for sharing your experience, Ball! I am after yes, a black B25 with GHW lol (though I've given my SA a few other choices I'm open to). I know I need to be more patient and I need to up my spending to possibly get it, but I'm losing hope because I've been seeing all these youtubers get a B in such a short amount of time with not that much spend either.
those exact specs are highly coveted and i imagine that's why you're still waiting. my store says they only get a handful of B25s a year (not sure how true that is...) so it can be very tough to get one especially in black with GHW (the most classic of all combinations)... don't lose hope though just be patient...in the meantime, only buy things you love. with respect to ramping up your spending to get a quota bag, that definitely has worked ime but only if its in the high commission categories like fine jewelry and RTW. offers do come very quickly after big ticket buys in those categories - and those offers include the highly requested small sizes.

Thanks for your explanation, chicfinds! I think I'm overthinking it. Like I wonder has my SA forgotten about me? Or will other people be able to get that bag at my city's store because they have a great relationship with their SA and I may not have as great of one (even though say I may have spent more)? I know I can't control the latter and just because I have spent some $, it doesn't guarantee me anything. But I do think of that lol. TY for the tips and for sharing your experience! I have been only buying what I love so far and they're actually in those categories. I have some more hope now thanks to you and the others who have kindly taken the time to reply to/help me!

I just have to say that this thread is on fire!! So much good info and help from all the members here.

@WhiteBus Thank you for your very thoughtful explanation of your wording. Yes, I totally agree that it has to be a working relationship between you and your SA. At the end of the day, it's a business relationship and it has to work for it to keep going.

im so sorry, maybe you can ask again?

I will ask again the next time I go in. With my last purchase a couple days ago, I did asked my Sa. He replied bags are very difficult to get but he remembers my wish list.

I spent 1.5:1 for my first offer in September. Then I’ve spent an additional 6k without any other offers, and my SA is placing another order for me now - for another 3k. We get along well, but I’m starting get antsy...

A lot of people say black GHW is very tough but I see at least 3 youtubers got B25/B30 black GHW within 3 months without significant prior spending. Soooo disheartening :crybaby::crybaby::crybaby::crybaby:

You have to remember that was in the us where there is no tourism really happening and I recall those youtubers got their bags in Vegas and NYC where I’ve heard it’s easier. I would not compare your experience with others. Every situation is different whether it’s because it’s the country or particular store or sa or what the client bought or whether the client is just too demanding. I am very doubtful those youtubers could repeat their luck in other places where bags are not as plentiful. I think it would be rare for an sa to go to bat for a client who regularly spends little. What would be the incentive when they work on commission?

Yess!! How I wish I was in the US :D I think I need to stop watching those unboxing videos for my own sanity hahaha

I agree that the recent conversation has gotten quite interesting and on fire! Lol. That being said, I think it seems the concern for some is that they feel they have spent the ratio that one expects or is hopeful to receive an offer (with understanding of course that nothing is guaranteed with H). Are you not receiving any offers? Or are they just not offers you like that meet your wishlist ? Because I feel those are 2 different scenarios. Receiving offers but not liking the bags, shows that your SA is trying to service you. Not liking the bag and waiting for your wishlist offer, I think this year is much harder than previous years due to production being low. Additionally, coveted bags will take a lot longer this year to receive as many have been waiting for them, including big spenders and VVIPs.

The fear that your SA is dragging you along and making you “spend” more and more without providing you with an offer, is a legit concern for a newbie that hasn’t established a repertoire with their SA yet and it’s your first bag. If you only buy what makes your heart sing, than you won’t feel guilt in spending on those items. But if you are buying hermes items just to get a bag, and you only want one bag and don’t want to develop a relationship, then I understand your disappointment. But if you want to create a relationship, buy what you love, your SA will start to see that you love the brand and after a couple of years of a healthy profile, your relationship with your SA will be stronger, you will have an understanding, less games, and more clarity in getting the bags you want. It just takes time to build that relationship.
