Aside from a few purchases in Paris, I’m new to H in the US. Stopped in a local store to meet an SA recommended to me, chatted and got along well in person. Didn’t purchase because I was on Ban Island lol. Texted SA to say thanks for chatting/nice to meet you, no response. No problem, I figured they’re busy plus I hadn’t purchased anything at initial meet.

Fast forward 1 month and I’ve emerged from financial lockdown and want to pick up some scarves and other things. Emailed above SA to see if I could make an appointment to purchase, no response.

I totally understand I haven’t built any purchase history with this SA yet so I don’t expect very much. In person interaction seemed great, but my concern is if I do build a relationship with said SA, the no response thing would drive me bonkers. What are your thoughts—stick with it and see what happens after I make purchases or keep looking?

If they gave you their information, then that's a good sign. I think after my first purchase, I sent my SA an email and she didn't reply, but I went in that day and she recognized me. So maybe try calling the store? Communication is really dependent on the person.

Does the person who recommended the SA have similar feedback about the SAs responsiveness? If yes, I would look for a different SA. If no, it’s probably just a function of you being an unknown at this point.

Oh, great idea! It didn't occur to me to ask, I'll do that. If it is because I'm an unknown, would responsiveness change as I build more purchase history? Hard to say I guess

SA's don't always respond timely.
I'd go back into that boutique if you see that SA & the connection is positive from your persepctive,
I'd give it a go.....

That was the approach I was leaning towards, I'll see what happens in person and if not, keep looking. Thanks!

update: person who recommended SA said their emails commonly go to spam and the reply was in my SPAM!!! I feel so silly, thank you all for your advice!

Awesome, glad to hear it's working out after all! Just have fun.

I do hear stories about other H SAs on here who are great in person but just aren't always great at communication in emails/texts. I can imagine that in high traffic stores, they can have a lot of different modes of communication to reply to for their customers.

I’m not a big spender by any stretch of the imagination ( I’m a shop assistant myself!) but I’ve been Hermès crazy for years and try and buy something whenever I have some spare cash.. scarves, happi, CDG 2 watches, coin purse ( tiny triangular one.. can’t remember name!)Perfume too and because of buying something every 6 months or even less I have built a history in my london stores over the years and there is one sales assistant who is always happy just to chat to me about the products when she’s not busy and I just go in to drool.. and I admit I’m in to look and dream. She also lets me try bags and told me the other day when I’m ready to buy a bag tell her my wish list bag and she’d keep me in the loop.
I think it’s relatively easy to build a relationship if you do spend ( in my case not £1000’s at a time) but show love for the product and don’t waste their time looking at hundreds of scarves or just asking for Birkin or Kelly
I’m confident I could get my dream bag ( jypsiere in raisin or rouge Hermès maybe) via my London store all I need to to start saving!

I’m really hoping to get a special order B25. Can anyone share approx how much they’ve spent to be offered one? My SA recently left Hermès and she wouldn’t tell me where I stood on the list. Should I try a smaller store? I’m on the west coast but frequently travel.

Can you ask the manager/director of your store? It's probably better to stay with the store you shopped with.

I honestly don’t think there is a particular set amount. It likely depends more on your relationship with your SA and store. I agree, I would ask the store manager if you could have an SO spot in the next year.

What kind of specs are you looking for? I know my store usually allows the clients to do SO when the color/leather combo not available via podium and/or not seasonal.

I think @burka188 was the one who wanted the SO. Good point about the combo/specs. I would think that a store would prefer to give SOs to their regular customers. Who knows, a big spender could make some of that special H magic happen. But in the world of H, there's a lot of big spenders.

Oops, sorry I quoted the wrong person.
This is why I like to shop in smaller boutiques because they don’t expect anyone really to drop big $$$. They prefer to work with local clients who stop in occasionally for various items.
I think SO usually offer to established clients but I’ve heard stories in Paris when SO is offered if spent $$$.

What specs/combo are you looking to SO? Honestly if you’re not a big spender it’s better to work in smaller stores.

Still deciding on color combo and willing to wait the 9 months - 1 year to join the horseshoe club.
I think the experience of the special order is worth dropping some $! But getting up to the jewelry, I wanted to match the hardware to either gold/rose gold or palladium. Definitely know that there are going to be some much bigger spenders than I am. I used to be a 1.5:1 spender for the B/K but never got a sense of what it would take to be offered a SO and now my usual SA is gone!

Spending is a consideration for sure, but it is only a small part. The SA can only offer a limited amount of SO per semester (now it’s a year)... for example my SA can only offer 2 SO per semester, meaning 4 SO per year. THAT’S IT. Therefore, of course you need to be a good spender at the store, BUT the biggest factor is whether or not you have a good relationship with your SA and whether or not she wants to offer you one of her few SO spots. I think your first move is to have a good working relationship with your SA. Just basing it off of what you spend will not be enough.
