Made in Italy vs Made in France vs Made in Spain

You should keep it if you love it, especially since you found a single flap.

It isn't that I feel like if a bag is made in France it is better (more well made) than one made in Italy. I think they are comparable. When I open a Chanel flap, I just want to see Made in France stamped inside. I must admit that I don't feel the same way about LV. I have a made in the USA LV and I couldn't care less. I'm sure that some LV fans may feel differently though. There are just some little things that get under my skin, and Made in Italy flaps are on that list! :p

It's funny that you mentioned that. I really don't care if my Chanel are made in France or Italy. But when I used to collect LV, I refused to buy bags that are made in US, but ok if they are made in Spain. To me, Spain and France are both in Europe, but US is in north america, it just doesn't seem right. It's like a LV bag made in Canada, too weird to me. :p

absolutely!!!!

Sorry, let me clarify something from my previous post. I have nothing against US or Canada (I live in Canada), please do not take this the wrong way. It's just I do not like to buy luxury goods that are made in non-european countries.

I remembered once I was going to purchase a burberry wallet, just before I was going to pay, I realized that it's made in China (again, nothing against China). I was like, 'what'??? If that's the case, they should adjust the price for 70% off since the labour cost is so much cheaper in China when comparing with Italy, that is just plain wrong.

My Chanels that are "made in Italy" are SUPERB. My "Made in France" bags are okay...one had a random thread sticking out when I bought it brand new and doesn't look so so great after only 2 years. Now I only want Italy bags :p

I know me too!! first I thought France sounded more exclusive since most other designer bags are from Italy. But after seeing couple very poorly made France bags while my Italy ones are fine, I'm very happy with my Italy bags now :D

I just bought a flap bag in the black caviar 2 days ago from NM. However, I noticed that on the inside flap, there's no stamp "Chanel Made in France or Italy" under the CC. Does that mean its not authentic? I thought all the new flap bags have that stamp underneath the CC? Also, is the serial number stamped somewhere on the interior of the bag?

I originally bought a black jumbo in caviar with GHW in Paris and it was made in Italy. The next day I changed my mind about the hardware and exchanged it for the SHW at the rue cambon store. The first bag the SA showed me was made in France but I noticed a dent on the front of the bag to the side.

I asked the SA for another one, preferably also made in France but she said she wouldn't be able to tell where it was made without having to pull them all out of their boxes and where the bags are made varies at random. She said it doesn't have anything to do with the size, leather or hardware. It's just that some are made in France, some in Italy and some in Spain.

The next one she showed me was made in Italy but was in perfect shape. In the end i went for that one because I would rather have a bag in perfect condition regardless of it's origin.

They are also made in Spain. From what I have seen all the runway pieces are made in France but the rest are a gambit. Lately I have been noticing a quality issue where wallets even have a crooked cc.

I just received my new jumbo caviar double flap from Saks and it's "made in italy". Now all 3 of my jumbos are "made in italy" and my two ML are "made in france". my sister's new jumbo that she purchased from the Chanel boutique is "made in france". Does it make a difference if you purchase it from a department store or from the actual Chanel boutique?

No, it does not make a difference to purchase from department store compared to a boutique. The only real difference is how much the bags are handled and stock availbility. Here's the thread where this question was already answered. HTH
