a lot of classic flaps are made in italy... i'd say half of mine were... including black caviar with ghw single flap... which was too soft vs my 09a dark blue so i sold it... i found that the italy ones from around that time were even tho still think caviar soft and i didn't like that so much... if you like the bag and it's made well (no major quality issues) i say keep... and enjoy! even moreso with impending price increase!! made in italy shouldn't be biggest concern ;) btw the one bag i have that is made in italy and is lamb but o so rugged and fabulous is the cocoon bag! LOVE IT otherwise i have one seasonal and my reissue camera case made in italy...

I tracked down a single flap before the increase....which I was totally happy about...after the navy maxi search ended in a bust. It came yesterday, but I was out of town. I looked it over today...no problems....but I just realized it's made in Italy. UGH

All of my other flaps are made in France. I thought all classics were made in France.... Should this be a deal breaker? I could just get a double flap...but I really wanted the single...since they aren't made anymore.

Also, it's shiny caviar. I thought the classic colors didn't follow the seasonal caviar, but I guess they do.

Someone talk me off the ledge or encourage me to jump!

Nah, as long as it looks good without any issues it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me.

I admit when I first glance at my reserved black jumbo in the store n saw Made it Italy it did throw me off a bit. But then it is still Chanel right? QC is still likely to be the same. So I took that without a question. Unless it said Made in China or another 3 world country then I would have a problem. I wouldn't worry about that too much about Italy. Plus lots of brands start opening up another factory line in another countries(European mostly) it is a trend that we customer have no say in it as long as u still love the brand n the bags!

But after I brought a made in USA LV for my mom as mother's day gift, I am pretty sure I ain't buying another made in USA LV no more, I cant justify the fact I paid that much for a USA bag. Just my2c.

generally i like made in france but ironically my custom made in france is wonkiest of all i have owned!! prob with my made in italy caviars was too soft caviar but not sure that was an italy thing or a timing thing!! i sold a made in italy maxi lamb that just seemed too smooshy... could have used a second flap!
mp4, my 10c red jumbo caviar is made in Italy!. made in France i think is better craftsmanship, but made in Italy won't bother me either. so keep it! :p

Thanks everyone!!!! I feel better.

I know made in France doesn't guarantee anything. My 10A maxi was made in France and a stitch popped the first week I carried it....easy fix, but still.

I know Italians are known for their craftsmanship...the made in Italy still threw me.

I want another single flap and another maxi before the increase....so she's a keeper.

You should keep it if you love it, especially since you found a single flap.

I must admit, Made in Italy is something that bugs me too. Some people just don't care, but I'm one of the weirdos who does. A brand new flap from the boutique with a "Made in Italy" stamp is a dealbreaker for me. I won't buy it. I want my flaps to be in good shape and Made in France if I am going to pay full price. Although it may not make sense to anyone else, it is a real hang up of mine. Difficult for me to explain but I will try... Chanel is a French fashion house. Coco was French. I have read a lot about the history of Chanel. The historical context of the products that I buy are important to me (if it is a brand that I really love like Chanel or H). I suppose that I expect French products to be Made in France for the most part, especially the products that are considered iconic, like a flap.

It isn't that I feel like if a bag is made in France it is better (more well made) than one made in Italy. I think they are comparable. When I open a Chanel flap, I just want to see Made in France stamped inside. I must admit that I don't feel the same way about LV. I have a made in the USA LV and I couldn't care less. I'm sure that some LV fans may feel differently though. There are just some little things that get under my skin, and Made in Italy flaps are on that list! :p
