Layla! Of course I have access to read /buy/google the book whatever ! what I wanted to highlight was that since the sentence you're quoting has very cleverly been cut out of its context and glued on another It should be put right there with its context FOR EVERYONE TO SEE AND MAKE ASSUMPTIONS !that at least will be the right thing IMO!
And since you very willingly posted excerps of the book here in several threads I invite you to post this particular sentence WITH ITS CONTEST if this does not bother you!TIA!

No, Chanelspell, I will not engage in playing games with you and I have provided documentation with links ad nauseum. If you find my past post too tedious to read that's all right, I understand. http://forum.purseblog.com/chanel/is-that-just-plain-inflation-194503-4.html#post4154715[/B]

At this point in this discussion (thread) more heat is being generated than light and as in real life, I will no longer participate and enable this tableturning; a defensive tactic used at diverting attention from the matter at hand. It would be an act of futility and one in which I do not have the energy or desire to continue with you.

Out of respect for and deference to the TPF readers & members...:back2topic:

I was pretty sure I was going to get that answer!I did not expect you would post the real context ever ! Thanks for replying anyway!

Oh and you are welcome.:flowers:

Swanky, pardon me for being redundant since I said this in another thread where this info was reposted, but I wonder why some bags then are stamped "Made in Italy?" I think my GST was made in Italy...

I don't care where the heck my handbag is made. I do not think craftsmanship is genetic nor do I think the stellar-handbag-maker-gene is inherent to Italians and French people. If the Chinese or the green people from Mars can make excellent bags, then cheers for all of us!

I'd really like it if good quality handbags were made in China in good conditions, but most of the time the places making things in China are sweat shops. I can't justify giving a company my money and them making so much, when people are being worked to death. This goes for any thing, not just bags.

Intlset:
Most perfumes are produced not by perfumeries but by huge chemical labs that stuff bottles full of synthetics. Where do you think J.Lo Glow or Sean John Unforgivable is made? Not in Grasse...

I was not referring to the "lesser brand" perfumes.

Why not send a message to the headquarters (surely the former chairman of GAP must understand English) and ask for the location of the factories???

Hermes even has this free for anyone to view in their annual report. I don't see why Chanel couldn't do the same thing. IF it changes location all the time, it's not really proving anyhting, but it suggests outsourcing.

I absolutely agree !!

In the 80s I read an article about Ralph Lauren sweaters that were hand knit by folks across the globe and the pittance they were paid. I knew what R.L. was selling them for as there was a shop on Connecticut Ave in D.C. Being the Jane Fonda/James Dean type that I am; i.e, rebel with or without a cause, I passed over a pair of croc shoes that I adored, and never went in the store again.

Today this sort of "slavery" is rampant that if I were to boycott things not made in the States, I'd be naked and sitting in jail somewhere in a prison uniform made -- where I wonder?

You may disagree about my use of the term slavery. How is this any different from slavery 100 years ago. Capitalistic societies exploit and call it free market. Oh yes, I know their wage of 2 cents a day lifts them from poverty. Bite me twice. None of us could live on 2 cents a day.

Finally, after numerous substantial price hikes there is dialogue in the trenches. People are thinking and "speaking". Whether it's Chanel, politics, the war -- any issue -- follow the money, who are the players, and who stands to make the most money.

My medium classic lambskin was made in Italy. I wish it was made in France as this is the home of classic Chanel! What's the difference of lambskin made in these two places? Is any one of them better? Will it affect resale value?

I received my East/West Flap yesterday and was suprised to see that it was Made in Italy because all my other Chanel bags say Made in France.

Just curious, for those who own an East/West Flap, is yours made in Italy or France? Is there a difference?

I just double checked mine, it's black caviar with silver hardware and the silver stamp inside says made in Italy. I purchased it from Bloomingdales NYC in March of this year.......
