Thanks for the infor ParisLV, i always wondered why they shouldn't be able to see infos from other stores on the world aswell, or at least the store manager should be able to do that, so that makes sense :smile1:

Will a VIC status be announced? I ask because i purchase alot from LV , not only for me, but also for family and my girlfriend under my name, even if they pay it - i don't want to know about the number and i guess nobody knows it, but i'll let myself be surprised :D

See, it's these comments that make me wonder why I was banned. I just don't get it. One thing's for sure, they're not consistent with their rules.
I'm happy for those of you that get all the extra goodies and things though.

I think it is changing though. This limit issue is vey new and i think we VIPs are going to become extinct. I believe it is corporate that is regulating the stores/managers and cracking down on the limit. And they are trying to put strict rules in place. If the SAs and stores start getting in trouble with corporate, they will all have to adhere to the limit and shut out their VIPs.

This is a long and old thread so I'm sure this has been answered but, VIC status is set by the company. I don't know the number but it will be the top percentage of spending. Just an example would be say .... VICs would be the customers who spend in the top 10% in the world. So the number changes each year and the stores are notified if one of their customers becomes a VIC. Fortunately VIC status usually sticks, so if you have a low buying year because nothing excites you, you don't lose your status. The number to become a VIC is huge. Now, VICs and Gifts are not the same. You can get a gift without being a VIC. The SAs control who get the gifts.

I think there's more to it than that. I understand the same, that VICs are part of the top percentage but it isn't as cut and dry as being top 10% company wide. It is based on region or broken down by state or state groups. Something like that. So it is top percent by region or state. So someone can be a VIC with a $20k annual spending or a $20k monthly spending, depending on your region or state. For example, i am a VIC in a state other than the one i live in. Lol. Also, the SAs can recommend you to corporate to become VIC.

Sure, I can see that it could be broken down into regions because places like LA and NYC would have all the VICs. So yes I agree that's totally possible. I can't imagine that 20K a year would get someone VIC status but honestly I don't know. As far as the SA recommending you to corporate to become VIC - okay if you say so I won't argue with that.... however that then lends itself back to the "what's the difference between a VIC and VIP?" It's the SAs who decide who are VIPs (clients who get gifts, champagne, invites, presales, etc. even though their spending doesn't "warrant" it) so... what would be the purpose of requesting VIC status from the company. Please understand I'm not disagreeing with you are agruing, but rather trying to understand WHY would someone want to be a VIC when VIPs can get just as many perks?

Yeah, no i completely agree with you. I always confuse the VIC and VIP terms and can never remember which trumps the other so i might be referring to VIPs instead. Lol.

Okay, I know what - according to my SA - the difference between the two are. A VIC is based solely on money. A VIP is selected by the store as one of their favorite customers. That's what I was told. I don't think there is a difference when it comes to perks. I think your SA and SM loving you can get you anywhere a VIC can go! I know there have been years when I've not spent enough to be in a VIC. My store is Scottsdale and there's a LOT of Money here! But, I know the service and perks I receive have never changed from year to year. I don't know what perks others are receiving that I don't - I mean how would I know I'm not getting something if I don't know about? But I do know my SAs give me 200% so I count myself lucky and I don't care what title they give me... even it's it's PITA! hahahahaha

This is great information and makes perfect sense! Thanks for the info, ParisLV and Lilmountaingirl!

Edited to add - Is any of the criteria based on what is purchased versus just the dollar amounts?

Okay, so here's what I got straight a little birdie's mouth...and a very dependable little birdie. Lets call him a regional manager whom I sat right next to during an event last night. Asked him point blank if this 5 bag a year rumor was true...at which he coyly smiled and said "no".

So there you have it. I don't know if this 5 limit rule is imposed on certain customers, but it seems like with these inconsistencies it's definitelly dependent on how they view you as a customer.

And FYI, I am not spending 30K a year on bags..so I'm definitely do not fit the rumored VIC criteria...but my SA has referred to me as a VIC before. I also bring in my friends and family to buy with my SA, so I go the extra mile for her in order for her to build new sales relationships. I think with LV, it's all about good relationships. My SA is good to me, so I go out of my way to thank her and be good to her as well.

Well, with all due respect, it's a little hard to have a relationship with the LV website and there's some of us that don't have any other choice. I'm just thankful if this is the way the company *views* certain customers, I found out when I did and not after I'd spent even more money with them.

Yes, I agree, it's hard to have a relationship with an SA when you can only buy online. I'm sure if you had a store near you and developed a close relationship with an SA, they would probably let you buy anything you wanted within reason. I'm so sorry you were told this. It's happened to others too, and we keep hearing both versions retold.

All I can say is that I was invited to an event that I'm guessing VICs may go to, and the regional manager did say there was so limit. So I can only go by what he says and what my SA says. Both say no limit except for one bag in a day.

Okay, I got some eye opening news yesterday! I was told by LV that VIC status is money and only money. No one really knows the amount because it changes but it's "a minimum of 100K of purchases per year"! OMG, LV doesn't make 100K of merchandise every year that I want to own! However, again let me stress that your SA makes the determination on VIP status and that most certainly can get you everything or at least almost everything a VIC gets. I'm not really into labels because most are either self-assigned or given to impress or appease the client. I just don't understand why people would care if they are or are not a VIC. If I'm getting the service I want then that's all that matters. Though 1/4 of this year is over and I've spent upwards of 20K, I will NOT be spending another 80K this year THAT I can guarantee you!!!! If I do I'll have to sell both my Kidneys! hhehehe.. So NO VIC status for me!! Hey, I get FAB service, I get to bring my Dog in the Store, I get lots of gifts and freebies, I get treated like a queen, I got to visit the home of Vuitton and spend the day with the head of guest relations for the world, I get first shot at bags, I get invited to every event... what more could I possibly want????? And I get all of that without spending 100K a year so I think I'm "Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner"! (hahahah... Sorry cracked myself up with that statement!) However, if some of you are still determined to know if you are a VIC I was told that all VIC's have a notation on their file in LV's system so when LV contacts headquarters the "powers that be" can instantly know the status of the customer they are discussing.

Now, that being said, I can GUARANTEE you there are 20 other TPFers who have been told something other than what I said above. There's one thing we can all count on when it comes to LV and that is Inconsistancy in Information Provided!:smile1:

I agree! Every year, I only see about $10-20k of items that I'm interested in and may not even purchase. At the same time, though, I've received invites and things, but I don't think that I am a VIC/VIP by any means. To be honest, I think I'm far from it. One of my regular SAs even walked away from me in the middle of paying for an item to help someone else (probably someone classified as VIC/VIP). Not sure if this has happened to anyone else, but it completely caught me off guard and slightly irritated me.

That said, I haven't purchased anything this year, because nothing has caught my eye as of late. I'm still holding out for some awesome new styles and LEs/seasonals and haven't seen many that I've been interested in enough to buy.

OMG, if my SA walked away from me to help someone else he knows I'd snatch him bald! hahahaha... That was completely rude of that SA!

I bought more than normal this year. I started a new company last year so I was on a complete ban. I decided to break it January and almost broke the bank! I really like the Empriente line because I think, especially in Infini, it has the classic look of Chanel but the durability I've come to expect of LV. So I bought some of that and then about 10K of stuff just because I knew that I liked it enough at the old price but probably wouldn't step up for the new price, like the Mahina. I love her, but I think she will be an only child (from that line) because I don't love her 4K worth! I do wish I'd thought my purchases through a bit more but I didn't know about the price increase until 3 days before it hit. If I'd thought about it I would have purchased more luggage. There is nothing in LV now that I want, since SOs are on hold. According to my SA they haven't been notified of any LE bags being launched. However, I'm in LVOE with several item from the fashion show. Can't wait to see what really gets made!

Hmm! Is there a difference between VIP and VIC? One of the SAs I dealt with considers me a VIP... Not sure what it means, but I haven't received any gifts from LV to date! Not like it matters unless if I get to choose the gifts I want LOL.
