Question, when a SA pulls up your information at LV when you go to make a purchase, does it show your purchase history from other stores/online?

Yes, but only for the country the store is located in. The store in New York didn't have my data from Germany, and the store in Paris doesn't have my data from New York :D

Yes and No.

Your SA can most certainly can see your shopping history from around the world. I was in LV a few weeks ago and when my SA asked me when I was going to Paris this year I said I may not go. He said, "Great, then I should be seeing some major purchases from you!" (I've bought 9 bags, I kind thought that would have satisfied him!) I said, "I don't buy that much in Paris!" He whirled around and read off to me every item I'd purchased in Paris in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010. He about choked when he was 2008... it was a BIG shopping year! They have a relatively new system so he couldn't see back any further.

The site they see when ringing you up is may be for the country they are in. However, they do have access to the worldwide system. I don't know if accounts are flagged so that SA's know to look into the international system. But I can assure you, my LV status follows me and I don't announce it.

This is a long and old thread so I'm sure this has been answered but, VIC status is set by the company. I don't know the number but it will be the top percentage of spending. Just an example would be say .... VICs would be the customers who spend in the top 10% in the world. So the number changes each year and the stores are notified if one of their customers becomes a VIC. Fortunately VIC status usually sticks, so if you have a low buying year because nothing excites you, you don't lose your status. The number to become a VIC is huge. Now, VICs and Gifts are not the same. You can get a gift without being a VIC. The SAs control who get the gifts.

Thanks for the infor ParisLV, i always wondered why they shouldn't be able to see infos from other stores on the world aswell, or at least the store manager should be able to do that, so that makes sense :smile1:

Will a VIC status be announced? I ask because i purchase alot from LV , not only for me, but also for family and my girlfriend under my name, even if they pay it - i don't want to know about the number and i guess nobody knows it, but i'll let myself be surprised :D

I got a handwritten card from an SA today! It's my first purchase in that store (I've barely spend over 2k in total) and I was pleasantly surprised by this. Hopefully, actual gifts will be coming my way one day :p They are so dang cute.

My SA told me that gifts are typically controlled by corporate in terms of who receives them...but once in a while, SA's do have some control on which clients get gifts... or do SAs have full control on the gifts?

Not sure if this was already answered, but how do you know if you are a VIC? I haven't received any gifts but my SA has given me a bottle of champagne to take home for my birthday and I've been told that if I'm planning to go to France, she would arrange a visit for me to the LV home. I have a great relationship with my SA and she holds stuff for me when I call with a list of bags I want to see when I visit. She always writes in "VIC" on the tag but I don't know if she's doing that to make sure no one touches all the stuff she has on hold or if that's really my status? Is it kosher to ask--and would they even tell you the truth?

I have no idea. I guess if you asked they'd probably tell you... but then that goes back to the old... "if you have to ask the price, you probably can't afford it." I think VICs don't care they are VICs and that's why I think the SAs have so much control over the gifts. I think stores are sent an allotment of gifts but many VICs would not want knicknacks so the SAs know they are free to give them to their favorite customers.

Once I was sitting in the woman's shoe department, which is in the back of the store and it's always where I sit because I want to hang out and I have a huge dog with me and I normally have 20 items out at any time so it's less of a security risk being in the back. Anyway, there was an LV convention/ leather workshop in town. It was in the town my store was in but it was at a resort and SAs from the region were there. 3 people came in the store, they were from the workshop, I don't know if they were SAs from other stores or if they were corporate. They were just dressed like people. One of the SA's greeted them at the door but when they got about 1/2 way through the store he turned to them and said, "There are two VICs in the back so I'm going to take you through here... I hope you don't mind!" And he took them into the backroom through one of the register stations. My sister and I looked at each other and laughed. I have NO idea if I'm a VIC. I don't see why I would be. I have seen collections on here that make mine collection weep in it's unworthyness! hehehehe..

Thanks!!! Sometimes, some things are better un-asked and un-answered! :D My SA has been so awesome to me, and to be honest, whether I was a VIC or not, she always treats me like one!

Ya I guess that was the point. I don't know and I don't care. I know I'm a VIP to my store and LV as a corporation has been good to me... so that's all I care about!!!

Ya, they definitely can see it. However, my SA is a manager so maybe that's why it was so easy for him to access. However, remember this is the only way they could take returns from one country to another. There will be something I impulse buy in Paris and then regret on the flight home. My store can see the purchase and can do the refund or exchange for me.

I didn't understand what you meant by "even if they pay it". You mean if you are with someone who is purchasing something, you have the purchase put under your name even if you aren't the one paying for it? I don't understand why you would do that. I mean there's no risk for you, I don't mean that, I just don't understand why you would want to have it put under your name if you aren't paying for it. Doesn't the store question why you do that?

Also, sorry, I don't understand what you mean by "will VIC status be announced" You mean like... will they come up to you and say.. btw you are now a VIC? I don't know that sounds a little cheesy, I don't seeing LV doing that ....I guess unless they thought the customer wanted to hear it. hahahaha.. I can see an SA telling a customer they are a VIC when they aren't. They can be so goofy! They say anything to make the customer happy. The SA who referred to my sister and I as VICs no way thought we could hear him. I don't think they'd ever come out and discuss that unless directly asked.

As I said above, most VIC's only care about being VIC's because of information and access that's received long before the public gets it, having first and sometimes the only shot at getting certain items. The rest is just gravy.. VIP rooms, private viewing (that's my FAV! Having the store to myself!) ... getting your Big Old Dog in the store...hahah..stuff like that is fun but it's not WHY you buy. It's really the ability to have access to merchandise that's the big perk for most VICs. I'm going to guess here but I would say you need to spend.... 20K - 30K a month, every month to be a VIC and honestly I think that's probably low, it's probably twice that amount. I know on several occations I've spent 5 figures in one visit and they don't even bat an eye. So I'm sure there are people who spend in a week what I spend in a year.

Nono, thats not what i meant, i always pay, but even if the item is for someone else i get it under my name, thats why i actually "buy" alot under my name.
No not like that, that really would be cheesy :D Thought of a subtle way, like a letter with one of your purchases or simpy a way where you notice it.
I always get coffee, water or champagne offered when entering the store - but i guess that doesn't mean i'm a VIC, just that my SA likes me, right?

Yes thats true, took me along time to find a SA who's honest and tells me that i look stupid with this bag or with this sunglasses when asking for their opinion - the others just would tell me everything looks great, just to sell it!

Oh!... okay that's makes more sence. I couldn't imagine what LV would think if you just told them to put other people's purchases under your name, without you paying for them.. Got it now!

No I don't think a VIC ever knows unless the SA thinks the person wants their ego stroked and so needs to hear it. The "perks" you can see means that your SA likes you (although the other day I was sitting in back having champagne and two girls were looking at wallets and ASKED the SA for some, he felt really put on the spot! ... Kinda tacky I thought - especially since BOTH of there handbags were fakes!!!!!) HONESTLY having a great relationship with your SA can get you almost as far as a VIC! The SAs can be the almighty. They know the information they are passing to the VICs and they can pass it along to their favorite customers as well. I remember when I was very young in LV my SA called and said a VIC ordered an item but when it arrived they didn't like it. They were "supposed" to call the next VIC but instead he called me. He said..."If you want it come in the store and asked if we have one. Don't tell anyone I told you it was here!" I did just that and bought a very sought after item before it was released.

Hahahah... yes I swear SAs don't lie to be evil they just don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. That's why my sister and I shop together. Everyone tells her that things look great on her... and they do... but I know her and I know what she'll never use once she gets home! I think finding/developing a great relationship with an SA is more importantly that being a VIC!

I've always been told the same thing about gifts, corporate vs. the SAs.

I also saw VIC written on something on hold, but I know that my SA wrote that since she was on vacation when I came to pick it up and she did not want another SA to sell. I KNOW for a fact that I am NOT a VIC in terms of spending at the LVs in my area. I've seen the $13-$20K bags in their 'special' dust bags waiting for their mama to pick them up!!

before it was released.

I don't know about international..but my store could see my purchases from other stores and online and they could see all the way back to my first purchases in their store (2002):p
