I won't shop if I don't get good service. I think it is because I was a SA for so long (Coach) and I know that it is not difficult to give great service. That's what you're getting paid for and if you don't like the job find a new one!:p

I agree completely, I worked retail for 4 years, our store manager used to tell us "Pretend there is an invisible bucket at the front door of this building, when you come in the front doors, drop everything in there except the retail person you are." Basically he said he didn't want any personal problems coming thorugh the door. He was cool.

I've only been to three Louis Vuitton stores.

SAs in White Plains, NY have been SUPER nice except for one time. I was returning a bag that I bought earlier from Saks and the SA wouldn't take it back, saying that I used it! I've never used the bag! I had it for two days! She was calling half the world in order to find out what to do. I kept telling her that that is the condition that I bought it in and she would keep telling me, "I'm sorry, M'am, but I can't do anything about it". Anyway, she did take it back after FINALLY believing me that I never used it! I was super embarassed.

I hate shopping at LV in New York though. Of course, they have more stuff than most of the other stores (the only store in my area that carried Speedy in Mocha Epi) but the service there is AWFUL! I take my time when picking out bags. I do research online beforehand and then look at the bags I liked in the store. Well, one time, I was looking around and NO ONE would help me. I stood by one SA who was helping another customer for about 20 minutes but she wouldn't even look at me! I was almost in front of her!

I always thought of LV as a high-end store with wonderful service. Not anymore! I work in retail, too and try to be as nice as possible to customers at all times! And I don't work on commission!

My local LV is in Boston. All of the associates are kind and attentive. If you tell them you just want to look around, it's "no problem, take your time, etc."
I went to an LV in Italy once - a very tiny boutique - only one salesperson who told us ' No touching the bags..' not very nice until he found out we knew what we wanted and were ready to spend money, then he was a lot nicer.

In Italy it is the custom to ask before you touch in any store, not just a high-end boutique. I lived there for a year, but had been told this before. It is considered rude not to ask (and the SA's will appreciate your 'common sense' if you do ask).

Service in Paris is terrible wether you speak English, French or Ethiopian... It's all a question of how you look.

I tend to dress like a student in tshirt, jeans and trainers. I've gotten some of the worse looks from SAs like that. What's really funny is that they don't remember me when I come back a couple of days later wearing my nice clothes and they're all over me like a rash.
The latest was the Chloe store.

The one place where I've always had a decent to excellent shopping experience is the Printemps. The SAs are usually very very nice to me and some of them are even friends now.

I just wanted to comment that the 3 SA's at the Vuitton boutique at Neiman Marcus at Northpark Mall in Dallas were beyond friendly and helpful. I haven't met a SA in the handbag dept at that Neimans that I haven't liked yet.

same here. I've gone to LV boutique at Lenox Sq to purchase my Cabas Piano and Theda GM and recently just purchase a Manhattan PM at LV in SAKS at Phipps Plaza and their SA(s) were always nice. I am sorry some of you have bad experiences with LV boutiques in ur area. Thats just not fair..

But I was surprised! Maybe I just got lucky but I got this adorable older Japanese SA who was nothing but nice. She was a bit aggressive (haha, grabbed my bf and I the moment we walked in) but she showed me everything I wanted to see (and more).

I've found that I sometimes get better service when I shop with my boyfriend. Well, perhaps better is not the right word. Most of the attention is directed on him, and SA become super friendly to him ... and that transfers onto me. Of course, it may help that he makes it very clear that he is there to buy me something. (He doesn't say this directly to the SA right off, but it's obvious in the way he responds to me when I ask his opinion on something.)

I've read somewhere that when men shop, a higher percentage than women actually purchase something. I think SAs know and capitalize on this.

As for the service at LV. I've found certain SA in the Boston store to be super friendly, and the ones in Troy to be much friendlier if you are carrying an expensive handbag.

Its not that they're rude when i'm shopping alone/ just w my mom, but they're not as nice as when u have men w u

That is very cool to know! Thanks for sharing.

When I bought my Speedy 40 and pochette the SA put both of them in boxes for me and a big huge bag, the mall was closing so she was afraid to let me walk out to my car alone, she told me to get my car and when I pulled up the the door she and the security guard walked to my car and she put the bag in my backseat and said "Thanks hon, hope to see ya soon!!" I felt soooooooooooooo special !!!!

Awesome SA!! That's very sweet of her to do that. :D

I've shopped at LVs in London, Paris,Hong Kong, LA, Hawaii and Toronto, all SAs except one were nice and helpful. The snobbish one was at the LV in South Coast Plaza in the O.C. Thankfully I was just there to pick up something I had been on the waitlist for so I didn't have to put up with her for too long - and she managed to not include the padlock and key as she should. Perhaps she didn't get the sale and that was the reason for the attitude.

i've actually never been to an lv boutique. i only know of one near me which is in the neiman marcus at tyson's galleria. but i've heard they aren't nice so i'm gonna wait until i buy my chanel to go in there! :D

Mariah, There is a LV boutique Right near Tysons Galleria. It is across Route 7 in the same building as Tiffany, Hermes, and Gucci.

Generally, I've noticed that the LV MEN SA's are very nice and helpful. Whereas the women are kinda hit and miss--some are friendly and helpful, others are catty, and some act as though it's going to kill them to show you something. I just approach the men since I've never had problems with them. I "think" that the male SA's seem to know that I'm there to buy whereas the women seem to think I'm just another chick looking or something....

You never know what service you will get at LV stores........!!
I had horrible service in Pennsylvania.LV STORE.....yet in Nice, France-I had the most amazing SA at the LV who talked to me about LV history..I had the best service ever and didnt even buy a bag!!!!!(They didnt have it there...)I will never forget how great they were because in France...americans arent always treated well in stores.even when you are spending a ton of money!!!..while the LV store there made the US LV store look horrible! you never know-
