I went to an LV in Italy once - a very tiny boutique - only one salesperson who told us ' No touching the bags..' not very nice until he found out we knew what we wanted and were ready to spend money, then he was a lot nicer.

Most of the attention is directed on him, and SA become super friendly to him ... and that transfers onto me. Of course, it may help that he makes it very clear that he is there to buy me something. (He doesn't say this directly to the SA right off, but it's obvious in the way he responds to me when I ask his opinion on something.)
I've read somewhere that when men shop, a higher percentage than women actually purchase something. I think SAs know and capitalize on this.
Sanguar said:In Italy it is the custom to ask before you touch in any store, not just a high-end boutique. I lived there for a year, but had been told this before. It is considered rude not to ask (and the SA's will appreciate your 'common sense' if you do ask).

I felt soooooooooooooo special !!!!
