LV Resellers.... Japan?

Apologies as I meant to post sooner. So after sending Elady a personal email inquire they did respond back with the tracking information and the second bag ordered was being shipped. Arrived in a timely manner and the Keepall bandy was in great condition as described. We are still fans but are concerned with the different choices now presented on the site. If Elady has become more of a marketplace site we'll have to keep our guard up now where we didn't feel that way before and that is too bad.

So I just came back..

Little tips on anyone buying from Japan/visiting Japan. I feel like that definitely prices are better on eBay but also it's more of a gamble. So far I've been happy with my purchases and conditions were better than expected. But at the stores they seemed to be in even better conditions(especially epi line) with of course prices to show for it. SLGs were NOT worth it I feel like. They were only around $50 or so cheaper, for CAD. And for that why not just go brand new. Definitely lot of people carried LV. While getting in we saw two young Japanese girls with vintagey looking LV going to upstairs to browse as well. Stores are also popular amongst tourists. Interesting enough Brand-off from Ebay had store fronts, two in one long shopping district. One store in particular had all Chinese speaking staff. Some bigger stores were like Birkin museum with glassed off cases and even the rare ostrich skin one. Brand-off in particular had a sales corner... Where bags of LV were just piles carelessly with discounted price and needs bit of work. They were more along the lines of 200+ yen. PILES and PILES of LV. It wasn't just big cities though. Even smaller cities had pawn shops advertising Birkins, Kellys, LVs, Chanels(mostly). But selections weren't as good, prices weren't as good.
By this point of my trip I was running low on cash and had to glance at patience of my bf but it was something to see.. I would definitely save some cash for it next time as they would give you tax free(cheaper than shown on tag) and no duty pay from online purchase/postage. Sorry for a bit of a ramble.. It was 14hour trip back..

Oh, interesting bit.. After gate check at Narita, Tokyo, they had a glass cases displaying real vs counterfeit bag. I guess they're trying to fight/discourage?

I'm not having any jet lag, but just major fatigue. My last three days were a killer and I had connecting flight. Canada sucks for buying luxury goods or international shopping/mailing/duties. But in general I think our country is taxing us to death on ANYTHING and Everything.. With new trade deal with Europe I'm hoping prices will drop on luxury goods...

I didn't get anything this time as my cash was running low and right before I left, I actually purchased pochette accesoire mini by a mistake. I thought it was a regular pochette accesoire. Plus shopping was testing my sweet bf's patience, so I decided against it. Way I see it, I can still find deals on eBay, I can buy first and show bf later, and what I was trying to find(Chanel carmelia coin purse) was not available.

Little story/warning on buying things on eBay to Canadians though... I bought my mini pochette a month before my departure thinking it will be shipped quickly like my other purchases from Japan and that I can use it during travel. But the item came to me on day before my flight and I could only pick up my parcel AFTER my flight hour. I had to have one of my friend pick it up for me and to give it to me when we meet up in Japan. So yes, I am aware of the irony of buying from Japan to have it end up getting picked up from Japan after it came to Canada. Canadian border services is having some major problems right now, so anyone ordering from Japan may or may not have same issue. Even if seller states maximum 7 days, I would give at least little over 1 month time so please be patient with sellers. I've loved all my sellers and they were incredibly sweet people.

I’m actually visiting Japan at the end of this month and was hoping to visit these stores. Do they only accept cash?

A search on bait and switch will show posts on the topic from as far back as 2006. Not only do posts describe situations where sellers are suspected of switching bags (posting pictures of authentic bag and shipping fakes), but with buyers returning fake bags as returns.

I stopped purchasing from Japanese websites global elady et al and especially eBay Japanese sellers because a bag I received was absolutely not the same bag in the listing and was indeed a "bait and switch".

Japanese sellers and affiliates (who may also be tPF members) know that buyers use pictures to authenticate bags (on tPF and via private authentication services). Posting pictures of an authentic bag and shipping a (barely used, pristine condition, better than described, almost new) fake bag is easy and a surreptitious distribution network of counterfeit goods.

Thanks for the info, were you able to return your bag?

I think they accept all forms of cash. Also sometimes what's on the tag seems different than the prices offered to those with passport to show so make sure you carry passport. And when you enquire, they calculate it for you. I recommend doing a through research on second hand market prices on eBay and on FB group first and also consider currency conversion. Which cities are you visiting? Some cities have higher prices as well.

Ooh good to know. Thank you! Will they take credit card as well? I was hoping to just use my Chase reserve since there are no international currency fees. I will be visiting Osaka, Kyoto, and Tokyo. Do you think I can purchase secondhand items at reputable shops (such as Daikokuya, Brandoff, etc.) without a doubt about authenticity? Slightly worried about the whole "superfake" thing.

Sorry, I meant all forms of payment. But specificity of credit card I can't answer. I know they accept all major, but Chase I'm not familiar with. Osaka, most famously would be Dotonbori district. But from what I've heard.. Rent is so high the cost is passed onto the consumers. Like I said, you can go through the "bargain bin" for average $300 or so but Ebay would be the best bet. Yes, there are Daikokuya and I think I've seen three Brandoff. Fakes are illegal in Japan and it's usually not sold in these stores but I always tell people there are that 1% chance of authenticators missing. Your best bet is be familiar with the brand and study a bit. If you don't own any LV items yet, maybe go into shops or purchase low priced vintage ones to get the feel of what authentic vintage should feel to your touch.

Kyoto I have not seen any resale stores. Tokyo probably has many, but I wasn't big fan of the shopping district areas so can't really say. Oh! And if you are not going with a baby or ok with smoking area.. In Kyoto, try Noen cafe! It's by major temple and near Starbucks. Their morning hot sandwiches are soooo good. And also try Tiger gyoza! Sooooo good. Oh and Shinpuku Saikan Ramen(order fried rice). Have fun!!!!!

Most stores will accept all types of payment.

If you’re in Tokyo, I recommend going to Shinjuku. There are a lot of pawn shops there and they’re pricing is a little better than other parts of Tokyo. Even then, you really have to scour to look for deals. My favorite stores in Shinjuku were Birthday (www.brandshop.co.jp) and Ginzo. There are tons of Daikokuyas but I didn’t have luck finding great deals there.

Thank you for all this info! I actually just purchased my first secondhand LV off elady after having it authenticated here. I'm so excited for Japan! I'll definitely add these to my itinerary :)

Ah thank you! I was thinking about how much cash I should bring and I was a tad uneasy about carrying a lot around (even though Japan is super safe). I'll definitely check out these stores since Shinjuku is on my list :)!

I hope someone can help me.... so I’m all new to this and I wanted to buy my first Chanel purse at a low cost because I want to start a collection especially for my girls. I’ve bought gucci and LV, I have some Tory Burch but I don’t consider them to be a collection vintage item (I hope I didn’t offend anyone). Anyways, with that said, I was looking into EBay Japanese seller especially Yuko and love peace Tokyo. It seems like their some pros and cons with them. But do you think it’s worth risking it???? Is there another Japanese seller anyone recommends taking a risk??? Also what about Posh??? Thank you for your helps. This website has been so helpful.

Which country are you in? Kind of depends on that too.

I definitely recommend elady or brandoff. Check out their website rather than eBay listing. Elady is kind of a marketplace now but I can verify that they check all items out first before shipping them to you. I recently purchased an item from them that came from a different vendor but they actually received the item first, inspected it, and then shipped it to me. Of course you’ll need to do your due diligence and get it authenticated as well (caroldiva, authenticate4u, tpf authenticators, etc).
